Shooting occurs at Mike Vick's birthday party

Eagles quarterback Mike Vick, who remains on federal probation following a two-year prison term for dogfighting, celebrated his 30th birthday with a party at a Virginia Beach club.  And, apparently, one of the games was pin the tail on the donkey.

With bullets.

A shooting reportedly occurred as the club was closing.  A fight broke out, and then someone whipped out the ultimate peacemaker.

One man was shot, per WTKR, which also cites unnamed sources in reporting that the shooting occurred at the party.  The victim initially refused treatment but then went to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesman said that the victim and witnesses were being “uncooperative.”

The invitation to the party boasted that Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall and Colts safety Antoine Bethea would be attending, along with former NBA star Allen Iverson.  (That is, we think they meant Antoine Bethea of the Colts; the invitation says “Antwoine.”)

Though there’s no indication that Vick was involved in the shooting, the
mere fact that someone possibly came to the birthday party of a guy on
federal probation with a gun in his (or her) possession could invite the feds to examine very
closely whether Vick has honored all terms of his supervised release –
which usually includes not hanging out with folks who carry guns.

Was Vick even there? The link said that it occured at one of the many spots where vick was celebrating and occured at 2:10 in the morning. Was he still there. By the way, I live 5 minutes from that guadalajara location and it is some of the best mexican food I have ever eaten. It’s not a nightclub at all. It’s a restaurant. There is music and a dancefloor, but it is a restaurant. It does not even resemble a nightclub. Another case of the media stretching the truth. Good on ya.

Regardeless of whether Vick is charged with breaching his probation, I’d imagine the folks at 280 Park Ave will be taking a close look at this. Goodell has made it clear that any player who ‘tarnishes the shield’ will be subject to discipline. Let’s hope this is the final nail in the coffin for this turd, and that a lifetime suspension is handed down. Considering his past, he should be very careful with whom he associates with. Mr. Vick isn’t doing a very good job of that.

Vick needs to just stay at home. Don’t go to Walmart, don’t go to Pathmark, don’t pump your own gas. Just show up to games.
In fact, get one of those “beam-me-up” things from Star Trek. If something bad happens, and Vick is in the vicinity, it will be related to Vick.

  26. breeze says: Jun 25, 2010 12:03 PM

What the hell! I’ve been many to many clubs in my life. I remember only numerous occassions when people got into altercations outside the club. Sometimes someone got their gun. Michael Vick doesn’t own the club. It’s not like he’s a psychic and can tell someone going to shoot outside. The man can still go out out and have a good time. I have yet to see Vick on video charging at a guy for a upside-down “hook em horns” hand signal. I’m stationed in Alaska and I’ve seen guys shoot at others over a girl in nightclub parking lots. It happens. I would probably be more concerned about the security of the club over what Vick was doing in the club. The guy isn’t stupid. He knows he’s working on his last chance. Let the man live his life.

You get on here all the time spouting the usual drivel directed toward anyone and everyone (especially the Cowboys) and then you go on a post about “you haters”. Vick put himself in a position to be ridiculed and he can deal with it. The Eagles decided to sign the sorry bastard, so they and their fans can deal with it. Actually, the Marvin Harrison and Pac Man lines were quite humorous

  33. JimmySmith says: Jun 25, 2010 12:07 PM

Due process is the first step but if it should happen that Vick was there, Vick or one of Vick’s circle of friends pulled the trigger, say goodbye to holding a clipboard on Sunday afternoon and join your friends in the hood.
I never bought Vick’s sincerity about turning a new leaf but then again, I wasn’t hiring the punk. The Eagles has to question why they even have him, he doesn’t improve team, doesn’t play much and is a PR disaster.
Get rid of him now before someone or some dog gets shot.

  34. breeze says: Jun 25, 2010 12:13 PM

That’s the thing: NO HE CAN’T. He lost the “benefit of the doubt” a long time ago. If he wants to retire from the NFL and go run a donkey show in Tiajuana, more power to him, but as long as he is in the NFL, considering his past, the most wild place he should be seen is at an Applebees, at 5pm. He already blew through EVERY chance he has. This isn’t a 2nd chance. He’s on his…….36th? The fact that he isn’t more careful where he puts himself (and at what time of day) indicates that YES he IS stupid.

  37. Dude17 says: Jun 25, 2010 12:17 PM

Of course the witnesses are being uncooperative. Given some of the crowd that was probably there (guns in tow), would you turn evidence over to the police?

  38. E.F.Cuttin says: Jun 25, 2010 12:18 PM

Its painfully clear most people on here have no clue what these “parties” are all about…This isnt some invite only soiree that you might have on the family estate, rather a nightclub event that is open 2 any and all…They use the athletes or entertainers as the draw 2 get patrons…The oneness for the shooting is on the club itself for not having stronger security measures…This more than likely has nothing 2 do with Vick other than it happened at an event with his name on the flier…

Leave it to Florio to post one judgemental completely false story a day. How the hell is Vick supposed to know someone was going to shoot at the club that night. It wasnt even a club, its a restaurant, thats a lounge at night. People, Vick paid his dues and is now a Eagle, get over the dog fighting. This a a simply a case of him being at the wrong place at the wrong time. If it was his celebration, I’m sure he didnt think their would be trouble, nor was he looking for it. Some of you need to get off your soap boxes. As someones said earlier, he isnt VY, attacking people in the club. He was simply there to celebrate his bday. The same people who hate on Vick are the same people who said Percy Harvin would be a bust after falling in the draft. In the end, my two Virginia comrads are both still rich and both still could care less about your idiotic opinions..Love them or hate them, they will continue to feed their families playing the game they love

“The guy isn’t stupid. He knows he’s working on his last chance. Let the man live his life.”
    @breeze,
Yes he is extremely stupid. In his situation to even go to an nightclub is asking for trouble in a big way. I’d be happy to let him live his life if he was asking “would you like some fries with that whopper”, but he certainly does not deserve to still be in the league.
For all the whining you Vickites do about how poor poor Mike got so harshly punished, Goodell ignored the fact he ran a gambling ring which should have gotten lifetime ban from the league. G00dell also ignored the fact that he failed a drug test while out on bail waiting for his trial. Vick should be in the league substance abuse program as well.

  42. bbww40 says: Jun 25, 2010 12:27 PM

    Wow!
Poor Mike wasn’t grocery shopping when someone happened to rob the store. He wasn’t invited to a “soiree” to gain publicity for the establishment’s owner. He was at HIS birthday party! The fact that some you think an athlete of that level of fame would have a birthday party in a restaurant/bar/club that was open to the public while the party was ongoing is very naive.

He doesn’t deserve to be in the NFL.
When people make mistakes they deserve the ability to learn from them and adjust, but Mike Vick did not make a mistake. He sat out and did everything he wanted to with the dogs up until he and his co-thugs got busted. Even then he’s had everything gift wrapped by his Uncle Poinvickster. naive? No your just not where we are from. When athletes have parties in the 757, they dont rent the whole club out, they havetheir party and get a table or vip but they dont get the whole venue. Think it has more to do with Virginia than the athletes themselves. I’ve been to parties for Iverson, VIck, Bruce Smith, Alonzo Mourning, , David Wright and etc. Its always the same thing. General population is there. So while im sure Vick’s party had table service, to isolate them some what, you cant control who else is allowed in the venue if they are complying with the policies of the venue

Now, that’s funny. Mike Vick has a better chance of being named CEO of PetSmart than he does of being the Eagles starter by week 4.
Eagles are still hoping to dump Vick on some desperate team that loses a QB in OTA’s or training camp.
Even if something happens to Kolb, the Eagles won’t use Vick as a long term starter. He is only listed at #2 on the depth chart so he can be used in the wildcat. If you don’t understand why that is, read the rule book- I don’t have time to explain it to you.

These felons like Vick just can’t stop and become citizens. They are always attracting, or are attracted to crime and in the area when a crime occurs.
The best outcome would be revocation of probation/parole and send the druggie back to the pen.
    Be it
    -a herpes spreading Ron Mexico(allegedly),
-a water bottle with a special compartment,
    -doing drugs while awaiting prison,
-running an organized crime ring with illegal interstate gambling and animal mutilations,
    -giving paying customers the bird,
    -lying to the commissioner,
and whatever else I left out, this convicted felon with this long record of evil behavior should not be in the NFL at all.

The Eagles should have signed Bulger as their backup when they had the chance. Now they’re really going to be in trouble when Vick is suspended.
    Jeff Garcia…start getting in shape!

Michael Vick birthday party a.k.a. gangster and thug convention

Nothing good could possibly come out of a party Michael Vick is throwing. Its probably safer to be in Kabul Afghanistan then at a Vick event. Did they use a pitbull as a candy filled pinata?

Florio you obviously dont know how celebrity parties work. They throw a party at a club as a promotional event. They invite some of their friends there to hang out with them. But the majority of the people at the club are the general public. These people usually have no contact with the celebrity at all.
The celeb usually gets paid alot to do this . Its a money making strategy for club owners. They charge more on nights like that and the club is usually packed. Also it helps them with name recognition . Because if the place is good enough for joefamous it most be good enough everyone else too.
If your not P Diddy and willing to spend a million+ and rent out an entire club this is how its done. So unless it was someone with Vick who got shot or did the shooting you or the federal government cant hold him responsible for what some else there did.
Its like holding Miles Austin responsible for a guy in Dallas banging his sister. Its not Miles’ fault that he lives in a city where that happens all the time.

Are we sure Allen Iverson didn’t do it. He is the only one on the guest list above that was in prison for assaulting someone.

    Commisioner Goodell said:
“It’s my responsibility to protect our reputation and our integrity. That’s what the personal conduct policy is; we all have to be held to a higher standard.
“First, as a league, we rely on our credibility for acceptance with our public,” Goodell said. “The integrity of the game and people participating in it is a critical element.
“Second, protection of our brand. It reflects poorly on our brand.
“That’s why everyone came together to strengthen our policy years ago to make certain we keep that high standard.”

    BTW,
All you huggers talkin’ bout Vick’s money need to remember: In reality, he’s broke.
He owes more to creditors than he has in assets.
These “party for pay” gigs are what he (along with Jamarcus Russell) will be relegated to doing for the rest of their lives in order to care for their parasitic possies (or “security blankets for pu….s” as I like to call em’) once what little cash on hand they have is p….d away….

For all of those defending Vick…..
I find the argument that Vick did not shoot the gun or bring the gun pretty funny. I have been to many places in my life, good and bad, shady and classy. Yet, never have I ever had anything to do with a gun shooting incident. It just goes to show you the type of person Vick still associates with and his complete lack of responsibility as a human being. He has done nothing to make up for the damage he has caused and proves time and time again that he will always be a thug before an athlete. How many times does a guy gotta screw up before you stop defending him??
