Lions rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh says he expects to have his contract signed before training camp. Then again, he also says he has no idea whether his agents, Roosevelt Barnes and Eugene Parker, are making any progress in getting that done.
“Like I’ve always said, I hope and plan to be in training camp,” Suh said Friday. “Where the contract stands? I have no clue. My agents are handling that right now.”
There was some criticism of Parker last year when another of his rookie clients, Michael Crabtree, held out until October. But Lions General Manager Martin Mayhew doesn’t seem to think he’ll have any trouble sitting down and hammering out a deal with Parker and Barnes.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a big issue,” Mayhew said. “I know his agents very well. He’s got two great agents who are very accomplished guys.”
