My last birthday party “guest list’ consisted of my wife of 28 years, three grown children and my recently widowed mother-in-law( a grand lady).
I don’t believe I have ever had 300 friends collectively in all my 56 years on this planet.
To this day, outside of my immediate family, I have perhaps four or five people I would sincerely call friends.
Is it me?
Can’t be.
I’m just a retired middle-school math teacher.

It’s always amusing to see Vick’s mindless sycophants twisting themselves into knots defending his atrocities. I can’t imagine forfeiting my humanity for the sake of some scumbag who couldn’t care less about anybody but himself and his own base desires. Losers taking up for a giant loser. I try not to reply very often because this isn’t debate on this site but rather argument. However, I have a few points I’d love answered in a constructive way.
1) Does Vick’s probation prohibit alcohol? I’ve heard it said several times but from past articles (particularly when he had the drink in the airport) it was reported he has no restriction on drinking. Which is it?
2) Was anyone who he was not supposed to associate with on a guest list or invited by him? If he invited anyone that shouldn’t have been invited he is at fault. Otherwise I’m not sure what he did wrong here.
3) were the terms of his probation not to go to public events? this was a party organized by his brother correct?
4) Do you feel that perhaps Vick saw people in the party he shouldn’t be around and that’s why he left? I don’t know one way or the other but it occurs to me that everyone talks about him leaving but never think of WHY he might have left.

I hear ya’ Mooch, and don’t disagree. That was the point I was making with the last part of my post. I live in his home town and know all too well about the people he runs around with. They’re not good people at all. I was just pointing pout that he didn’t make the guest list, so if someone was invited whom shouldn’t have been, it’s probably not Vick’s fault. I completely agree that putting himself in an environment like that, was stupid, but it’s pretty well known that he’s not the brightest bulb in the pack.

Dwayne, what team do you cheer for? Would you be happy if that team traded for Vick? If so, what is the max you would offer?
Face facts, Vick didn’t even get us an offer for a 7th rounder. He is worthless. I might make excuses and defend an actual player, like even Nick Cole who is 20x the football player Vick is, but I don’t care about tossing a bit/gadget player aside and getting back the $5mm.
It’s a business. No “hating” here.

Wow, I don’t know what’s worse, Vick associating with women who pose for “racy” photos or Big Ben hanging with dirty cops. What’s with today’s QBs. Plus Vick should have known he needed to cancel his birthdays after all the trouble he has been in. Doesn’t he know that just because he served his time doesn’t mean “time served”? He should spend the rest of his life groveling at the feet of those who judge him and be humbled in the presence of those of us who do no wrong.

He went to an uncontrolled environment in a bar in the town where he committed crimes.
When Vick got his 2nd chance he forfeited his freedom to go to events like this.
And if he does, he puts his livelihood at risk. Because the negative decision is at odds with Lurie’s “zero tolerance, no third chance” stance.
No one is saying he should go to jail, but I think it is best for my team to release him.
And if Vick was even a backup center I may feel like cutting him some slack. But Vick has no value whatsoever. He is stealing oxygen from real football players in my locker room.

I am far from being a Vick supporter, but in all fairness to the guy, he didn’t organize the party. A friend of his organized the event and made the guest list. He was interviewed by our local news here in Hampton Roads, Va., and from the way he made it sound, not much can be blamed on Vick. Well, other than being stupid enough to attend such an event, knowing full and well that when you get a bunch of thugs together in one room, sooner or later something bad will happen. It never fails.

There’s nothing wrong with eating animals, only with intentionally inflicting pain on something for fun. Hunting doesn’t qualify, as long as you eat it afterwards, because it isn’t done for fun, it’s done for food. Now, we can get into a discussion of whether or not hunting is really “sport” (it isn’t – when you have a high powered rifle and a deer doesn’t even know you’re there. If you want a real sport, go fight a bear with a knife), but that’s a discussion for another day.
Also, Vick is a douche, a monster and he should probably be shot on sight.

Ok, of course Vick (and all other black people in the public eye) are on a shorter leash. That sucks, its stupid and unfair but it is a reality. But that, in no way, excuses Vick’s behavior and lack of judgement. I think the Eagles should cut him, and the NFL should suspend him 4 days (with the chance to make it 2) for violation of the conduct policy. That is perfectly fair. He is getting less of a punishment than Ben did but he is still getting punished. As far as him being cut (and Ben not) Ben is better than Vick at QB. That is just business. If Vick had been really good, than he could get more slack but since he provides very little to that team, why keep him around for the headache?

I wish some of you would get off of your tractors and come into the city some day. Maybe you will learn that not every single African American is a “drugged out thug.” I know far more whites than blacks on crack, FYI.
All athletes have a tendency to be idiots. Some rape drunk girls (or 17 year olds in a hot tub). Some do… whatever it was Manning did to that girl at Tennessee. Some knock up Hollywood starlets and leave them for supermodels (Awesome, yes, but still kind of douchy, Tom Brady). Some crap in clothes hampers. Some kill dogs. Some break into their ex’s house and wave guns. These are kids with money; what do you expect, other than that they grow out of it eventually? And yes, they are kids. Life is tough for you and me. Reality hits us a lot earlier than it does them. That’s our fault for not being blessed with that kind of talent.
Just because you can relate to having sex with minors (your sister, for example), yet you can’t relate to growing up in a culture where killing dogs is “okay,” (however, you or one of your pals likely hunts for sport), doesn’t make someone a “thug” or a “monkey” as people have been saying in this thread. They’re just young people making mistakes. Vick made his; but he can’t cut complete ties with his family just because his brother is a douchebag and his brother’s baby’s mama has hot pictures on MySpace.
Iverson recently had to choose between his family and basketball – he chose his family. He is not a thug. He has tattoos, and used to be an immature rich athlete, but that doesn’t mean he will always be that way. To suggest that is ignorant, and honestly, racist.
Vick’s probation doesn’t state he has to avoid his brother. This entire topic is just a non-story meant to give people ammo to crucify Vick. What other things call one’s judgment into question? Maybe he enjoys the Twilight films. Maybe he likes fat girls. Maybe he’s a soccer fan. Let’s twist that into him being a “thug” and a “monkey!”
