Former NFL player Kevin Ware arrested for theft, escape

Former Redskins and 49ers tight end Kevin Ware was arrested Sunday and charged with theft and with escaping police.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Ware was initially apprehended by police after he was accused of assaulting a valet at a Houston bar, and that after he was put in a patrol car, he forced his way out and ran down the street while still handcuffed. Ware’s mug shot shows that his face was bloodied and bruised when he was taken into custody.

Although Ware wasn’t charged with assault because the valet refused to press charges, he was charged with escape and also charged with theft in a separate case when he ran out of a bar without paying his tab.

Ware, who played for the 49ers in 2003 and the Redskins in 2004, is being held at the Harris County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
