Rams get another rookie under contract, giving them six of 11

At a time when many coaches and front-office employees are thinking about a much-needed vacation, the St. Louis Rams have been working hard to get their class of rookies under contract.

The latest? Per a league source, Louisiana-Lafayette defensive end Hall Davis has agreed to terms, per a league source. The Davis deal was done, we’re told, on Saturday.

On Saturday, the team worked out contracts with third-round cornerback Jerome Murphy, fifth-round tight end Michael Hoomanawanui, seventh-round defensive end George Selvie, and seventh-round linebacker Josh Hull.

On Monday, the Rams agreed to terms with fourth-round wideout Mardy Gilyard.

It remains to be seen whether the Rams intend to finish the deal in the near future. It’s possible that they’re hoping to get all picks with the exception of first-round quarterback Sam Bradford and second-round tackle Rodger Saffold signed, sealed, and delivered before lighting the first lady finger of the Fourth of July weekend.

If so, the Rams need to sign only three more guys: sixth-round tight end Fendi Onobun, sixth-round defensive end Eugene Sims, and seventh-round defensive back Marquis Johnson.
