i think the nfl had both espn and bowe do exactly wat they did and then nothing would come of it… because he actually did say this sites like this and “reporters” like Florio would never let it go and want to know every freakin detail about wat went on.

My guess is Bowe made the comment but he made it with the intent of it being off the record. The recording that ESPN wont share probably does have the comment on there but it also, probably, makes it clear that Bowe didnt want the comment published in the article.
So, in essence Bowe said it but it wasnt supposed to air. ESPN can prove that Bowe made the comment but they were never supposed to report it because he made it clear that it was off the record. Releasing the audio of the interview will cost ESPN crediability with the players and the audience.
Just speculation on my part but its probably what happened.

As much as ESPN has went downhill in the last 5 years (much like the news media of today is geared toward a soap opera instead of a actual news org.) I would vote for Bowe being the one telling the truth.

Why is it so important for the media to try and embarrass or insult players? The sensible position for players is to just blackball those in the media who create dirt about players. Also, if they do interview, no taped interviews. ESPN or any other media outlet is not to be trusted. The media is merely looking to create controversy, so it is natural for every editor to pressure each writer to look for the controversial angle rather than the truth.
