Report: Marcus Vick could be involved in shooting

So I went on the Game 102.1 FM in Virginia Beach this afternoon to talk about Michael Vick.  Before the segment was over, the hosts (Johnny D. and Bartley Barefoot) proceeded to break some news.

The radio station has sources that Marcus Vick, Michael’s brother, was involved in the shooting that took place after Vick’s 30th birthday party last Friday morning.  It’s uncertain what “involved” means here precisely.  ESPN’s Adam Schefter said earlier on Wednesday that he believes the shooter will turn himself in to authorities soon.

I was surprised initially to hear the Marcus Vick connection, and couched my response with a lot of “ifs” and “possiblys” regarding the situation.  Barefoot had no such equivocation, saying his sources were sure Marcus Vick was involved.

We’ll continue to track the story, as will a growing number of national sources.  ESPN led their NFL coverage today on air and online with Michael Vick’s timeline problem.

The longer this story drags on, the more uncomfortable it grows for Vick, not to mention the Eagles and Roger Goodell.

Vick could really use that shooter to come forward quickly.

After reading how insanley stupid your earlier comments have been on all previous Vick postings you say that. Are you kidding me? His brother threw the party for him and likely had something to do with who was invited. It is his damn brother as opposed to some random thug that had something to do with the shooting. If anything it raises the question as to what Mike said to his “bro” before the shooting happened.

My question is this: If the African American community want people to stop “stereotyping” then why on earth would African Americans rich, poor or whatever continually place themselves in a position to be involved in shootings such as this? Why would Marcus or Michael even remotely take part in an event (actually plan and make money) such as this or actually participate knowing the NFL commissioner can take it all away if ANYTHING goes wrong? What is it? Why? I just don’t get it?

  41. Coach says: Jun 30, 2010 7:33 PM

Hey Jon the Genius…how does this help Mike conVict in any way? His original alibi to the police were that he and his brother left together. That 0.1% is looking a little higher every minute. At the very least big Vict put little Vict up to it, perhaps little felon is going to take the rap for his big felon.
Big surprise in a family filled with rapists and murderers. This is actually just a minor crime for the Vict family.
I see this ending with Vict getting suspended from the NFL for life and a parole violation landing him back to the friendly confines of his local penitentiary. Couldn’t happen to a seedier loser lying thug.

Different situations. Stallworth drove drunk and had an accident. A one-time deal. Vick the POS led a lifestyle of BEING a POS. He didn’t get drunk and had a one-time deal of killing dogs- he INTENTIONALLY DID IT FOR YEARS!
Why can’t supposedly common sensed people see the difference between ONE time and a LIFESTYLE?

  50. bigrig says: Jun 30, 2010 7:48 PM

Whether Michael had anything to do with it or not is really no longer the point.
The point is he is once again bringing negative publicity to the NFL.
Vick apologists ask yourselves this question. If you were looking at this through Roger Goodell’s eyes, would it look to you like Vick was more interested in keeping his NFL career in good standing, or would it look to you like Vick was more interested in going back to his old lifestyle?
At this point, teams are going to look at him and decide he is just not worth the trouble and baggage. The on field production doesn’t measure up to the headaches.

  64. Wonka says: Jun 30, 2010 8:32 PM

Per Goodell’s track record with the personal conduct policy there should be a major suspension of Mike Vick here, regardless if he had anything to do with the shooting.
    As we’ve learned this offseason:
    1. Things that could be construed as embarrassing to the league = suspensions regardless if charges are filed or if there is a conviction
    2. “Pattern of behavior” trumps convictions, even when the pattern never results in charges or convictions.
    3. The more media coverage an even gets, the more harsh the suspension. Again, regardless of charges or convictions.
Vick has a pattern of violence that has followed him, and this issue is very embarrassing for the league, and the media has been all over it. Minimum of a 6 game suspension, or Goodell has to come out and admit he punishes white star QB’s more harshly then black players with repeat issues and convictions.

A couple things need to be cleared up: 1. Marvin Harrison is guilty. Those living in the Philadelphia metro area already know this. 2. James Harrison of the Steelers is a top 5 scumbag in the league. As is Ben, Santonio, Reed, Wilson, Porter, and Plaxico. All Cowher guys, yet nobody seems to make the connection that Cowher was not a “high character” guy. 3. Jerry Jones was negligent when that building collapsed. 4. Eli Manning has a noodle arm. 5. Most PFTV segments are filmed at “Vice Versa” in Morgantown. 6. The Eagles defense is horrible. 7. David Wright uses steroids. 8. The NHL sucks, as does the World Cup. 9. John Wall is overrated . 10. Al Morganti sucks.

For the people trying to compare vick to stallworth your missing the facts. 1st after the incident stallworth stayed at the scene, fessed up to what he did and cooperated with police and the commishoner. Vick has tried to lie after every single time he gets caught doing something. The reason Stallworth is back in the league is because he is a bigger man than most of us will ever be, he fessud up to his mistakes and took the consequences head on. The reason Vick is barely in the league is because he panics and lies, as well as does not learn from his mistakes.

Actually this makes all of the Mike Vick haters look foolish. If his brother was involved in the shooting, that makes it much more believable that Mike did not have to encourage him to do anything.
A person is more likely to do something ignorant to defend their family member than a stranger.

Cruells is just another one of those people who don’t understand that there are often mitigating factors in an incident and that if one really considers what happened that night, Stallworth’s case handled was properly.

    =================================
It also didn’t hurt that Stallworth coughed a couple million bucks to the dead guys family which kept them from filing a civil suit.

I’ll be Mike Vick’s creditors are pi$$ed. I believe the terms of his Bankruptcy are that he keeps the first $750,000 of his earnings. Outside of the NFL he’ll never make that much and they get nothing unless it’s revised.

You’re right, that didn’t hurt, and it shouldn’t. That money was exactly what that family needed to move on and DS coughed it up.
He could have forced them to file a suit, and fought it vigorously with his high priced lawyers and maybe even won. Who knows what kind of lawyers those poor people would have had? And clearly, the case wasn’t open and shut. There was plenty of doubt as to whether DS’s condition caused the accident. Who knows what DS’s lawyers could have gotten a jury to believe?
The Stallworth case is proof that America loves to give second chances to people who face up to what they’ve done, tell the truth, and do everything in their power to make it right. And why Americans are less forgiving of people who decieve, lie, and cover up. You know, like Mike Vick.

Let’s just look at this from a logical standpoint. Since I don’t have a dog in the fight (oops bad metaphore when talking about Vick) I can look at things more realistically.
Even if Michael Vick was not there, even if Michael Vick had nothing to do with the shooting or the shooter, if it can be proven that Marcus Vick either is somehow involved with or turns out to be the actual shooter, Michael Vick is toast.
He either has to lie to cover for his brother (strike three and he’s out of the league), or he has to rat out his brother to appear to have clean hands.
So, does Michael give up a family member to protect his job? Having worked in the ‘hood as a police officer I can tell you snitches aren’t exactly on everyone’s Christmas list. Michael is now in a position of choosing career or family, but he certainly can’t have both anymore.

Do people realize that drinking in a bar till it closes, which is usually between 1:30 or 3… (yes, I am not in a party town, some places are open later), you go home (hopefully safely) pass out… wake up at 6 or 7, and drive to work… you are more than likely still over the legal limit and driving drunk, whether you feel like it or not? From what I gather that was Stallworth’s situation, something that people do, and shouldn’t do, all the time. Of course another situation developed from this, which resulted in a life taken, which is the fault of both the person walking and the driver, debateable I know, not my point.
Vick had created a lifestyle, which he was only partially punished for and was illegal in many ways.
Why do people insist on comparing the two? These are completely different situations.
But, for the hell of it, lets compare what we can compare, Vick was on parole… and if everything shapes up the way it is looking like it will, he will be violating his parole (alledgedly of course, until proven otherwise). If it isn’t parole, then call it agreement, or whatever settlement he has.
Stallworth, has from what we know, complied from the start, and the last thing I would expect from him so far is to break the agreement put on him. That is the comparison, if there is any at all.

TO ALL VICK DEFENDERS: PLEASE HELP!!
I’m trying to become the blond blue eyed “racist whitey” devil that you claim I am. I really am trying. I want to hate Vick for just being black. I work hard at it every day.
But every time I try, I forget he is black because my mind is fogged with the memory of his lies about gambling and dog fighting to the FBI, the commish, the media and the fans; his airport pot smuggling; flipping off his own fans; the whole “Ron Mexico” incident; the stolen Rolex; the drug test he failed while awaiting his gambling sentencing; the fact that he never did any jail time for the dog fighting; claiming that his 6 year lifestyle of dog fighting was a “mistake”; and, of course, the dogs.
My question to you is, since all of you are so good at it, how do I forget all of those thing Vick did?
    Is it denial?
    Is it ignorance?
Is it a little of both?
Or is there something else I’m missing?

After reading how insanley stupid your earlier comments have been on all previous Vick postings you say that. Are you kidding me? His brother threw the party for him and likely had something to do with who was invited. It is his damn brother as opposed to some random thug that had something to do with the shooting. If anything it raises the question as to what Mike said to his “bro” before the shooting happened.
    ========
and another comment about me being a genius and how does this help? Because… you just all want him to go down.. and keep connecting imaginary dots that are motivated by your own personal agenda. Again, You keep trying to push the issue that M. Vick some how went and had this guy shot with no logical reason to do so. Unless you are actually that lost far off from reality that you believe hes going to go have him shot because he showed up at a party and got a little cake on him. if this is the case, you have lost your mind. if anyone else went and did it from an argument? guess what, thats THEM not him. case closed. He can’t control anyone.
As I stand by my original statements and these “new findings” support my conclusion 100%. m. Vick will not be charged with anything, COURT, Parole Board, NFL.
BTW a few VA parole officers have said they see NO REASON AT ALL to think Vick violated his parole.
Thank you, have a good day.

    John Evans,
You obviously don’t like to read anything that does not agree with your persistant implatation of your lips firmly on Michael Vick’s glutimus maximus region.
I did not say Michael Vick was “toast” from a legal standpoint. He’s toast either from a social or professional standpoint.
Let me spell it out for you at the third grade education you apparently have.
    1) The party was planned by Marcus.
    2) Marcus is now being linked to the shooting in some fashion.
    3) Marcus is Vick’s brother. So that means unless Michael wants to do the old fingers in the ears while going “LA LA LA LA” he is going to hear things about his brother’s involvement.
    4) Michael either then has to withhold this information from the Authorities and/or the NFL which if shown to come out that he didn’t tell what he knew is the end of his NFL career OR he rats out his brother which is the end of his involvement with family and friends.
THAT is what I specifically said. Where at any point did I talk about the LEGAL ramifications about law. Oh, and by the way, I’m a former cop and now a lawyer so I think I know more about the law than you have ever learned watching CSI and Law and Order on TV.

Never watched the shows once in my life, my legal knowledge comes from actual SCHOOLING (which I can gurantee is far more indepth than yours)Well, FORMER officer, You obviously are making assumptions and concluding based off of nothing. As a “former” officer you would know that there is just as much case against any of the 300 other people at the club as there is Vick and hes simply being targeted (by the media only) because of who he is.
So Mr. Former Officer now a Lawyer I know that these basic facts are known and after that whole spew about Vick has to know cause he’s his brother! guess what, As I mentioned yesterday.. How is Michael going to control someone else? and who says they were together? Guess what? media reports show they weren’t together during this ordeal.

If you knew about the law you would know that it would be almost impossible to prove that Vick new anything about the shooting. Obviously he did if it was his brother but without real evidence there would be no way to prove it. Although proving something means nothing to the league so he will still probably be suspended (not that anyone should feel bad for him).
