Favre re-joins Oak Grove High teammates

Brad Childress must wait.  For Brett Favre, summertime belongs to Oak Grove High.

Favre threw passes at the Hattiesberg, Mississippi high school on Thursday morning, just like he often did last year at this time.  Oak Grove coach Nevil Barr told Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that Favre has made occasional appearances ever since the quarterback underwent ankle surgery in May.

“His arm is great like always,” Barr said. “As far as
how his ankle is I haven’t heard him say anything about it. We don’t ask
him a whole lot on that.”

Barr hopes Favre returns to play for the Vikings, not that there is any doubt on that fact any more.  Favre’s return to the high school practice field is yet another transparent step along the way.

Contra, Sheep, Perv, DC etc all collectively say:
WE JUST WON THE 2010 SUPER BOWL
And they are right! According to the months of June/July the Vikes have won 12 consecutive Super Bowls in a row, very impressive.

These things are only a story because the media keeps talking about it. Stop following Favre around and their wont be any stories.
I’m sure the Vikings already know the date he’ll join the team. He proved last year he can stay in shape. Given the Vikings’ success last year maybe more older QBs should spend their training camps at local high schools.

  3. BigEasy says: Jul 1, 2010 5:14 PM

Same talent at Oak Grove and the Viqueens…all NFL players should forgo any OTA activities and rejoin their childhood pee-wee teams or local high school teams and see if they’re ready to go…..lol
These Brett Favre “so called articles” are scrapping the bottom of the barrell….
This is a Florio post under Gregg…no doubt!!!

    - I don’t get that. It seems like everyone who talks to Brent never asks him about the important things. Like “how is the ankle”, “are you going to play”, “are you waiting until August to come back”.
Chilly, Bevel and the rest all say the same thing. “Gee whiz, we talked to Brent but his status for next year never came up”.
Why the hell are you talking to him about?
How about a little honesty. How about “We talked about his [ankle, retirement, status, etc] but he asked me not to say anything”. That simple. Don’t lie and say it never came up. Of course it came up. It comes up all the time. Just admit you discussed it and move on.

    —————-
The NFL Execs are no dummies. Combined with media connections, they have created the perfect faux persona that any fence riding football idiot would say, “He’s so cool,” even though they’ve never met him. He skips team workouts and practices (isn’t that a big deal to the media?), he’s a chronic philanderer, spent his entire 20′s as an alcoholic absentee father, threw his team’s management under the bus on national TV, refused aid in his teammates development, and let’s not forget…hasn’t won HALF of the playoff games McNabb has in the last 12 years.
Other than that, he’s so cool.

-He’s earned the right to skip workouts, if his team mates don’t care then why should anyone else?
-I’m sure he’s the first athlete to drink and cheat on his wife. What a stunning piece of info you brought to our attention.
-And Rodgers is a spank, his act this off-season has shown us that.

Just ran accross this from last years NFCC game. Were you involved?

    Sunday, January 24, 2010
Minneapolis, MN (AP) – A bandwagon carrying most of the population of Minnesota was brought to a sudden halt Sunday evening, according to wire reports. Authorities blame the accident on the sudden piling-on of a vehicle which did not deserve the weight. Captain
Olaf Anderssen of the Minnesota Highway Patrol called it “the worst de-railing in Minnesota history.”
“We have had incidents like this before,” Anderssen said. “We had them a lot in the 70s, but this one was the biggest. The sad thing is, there was no reason for it.”
Investigators at the accident scene report that many people were not securely strapped down for the ride and were merely “hanging on” when the accident occurred.
“The vehicle’s capacity was severely tested and something had to give” said Inspector Erik Svensson. “Most of those people had no idea what was going on. I don’t think any of them saw it coming.
Also on the scene were several investigators from the OSHA offices in Atlanta. “We tried to warn them,” said Bobby-Joe Thomas. “We tried to get them to jump back off, but they just jeered us in that weird orgy-borg talk of theirs.”
One of the survivors, Guther Fahrfegnugen, spoke to reporters from the hospital. “I really thought this was the one. I thought Favre would take us to the promised land.” Fahrfegnugen describes himself as a
“full-time” bandwagon jumper. “I’ve been doing this since 1969, and I just knew that this was the year.”
“Next year is definitely the one, though,” Fahrfegnugen said. The injured were taken to Tarkenton Memorial Hospital.
Other traffic through the area is still slowed, and most likely will be for days to come. “There’s a lot of debris to recover,” said Anderssen. “Our clean-up operations are being hampered by a
large crowd of Green Bay Packers fans standing around and laughing.”
“You really can’t blame them,” Anderssen added

Not quite our claim to fame Perv (see Lombardi, Lambeau, etc if you are looking for GB claims to fame. Losing to Brett might make the top 100). I’ll take two loses in the regular season every year to see the Viking choke it down like they do every in the post.

If we lost both this year to you, we would be 5-5 since Childress and MM’s arrival. So at 5-3, you have no leg to stand on Perv. But you’re right about the Stone Age. Most of the Vikings posters were toddlers in ’97, so it would feel like a lifetime.
Fortunately, I can remember that title as plain as day. Winning one is a feeling that, well you kn…oh wait, sorry about that. It’s like the first time you ever make love to a wom…oh wait, I forgot about that too. Don’t worry, there’s always next year, Perv.

Hes back to ruin Jimmy Smiths year for another NFC North Title! Hey Jimmy eat a fat one you turd buglar whine bag!! That is all.
    ————-
This is one of the reasons most NFL fans shrug of Vikings fans as banwagoners. They think NFC North titles matter.
As a Packer fan myself, I’m not happy with the season unless they bring Lombardi home. GB won the 1st what, 4 or 5 NFC North titles? Who cares?! You guys are so focused on Division titles and beating the Packers twice a year that is makes you look foolish when they choke down hard year in year, on a consistent basis, regularly, always and forever.

  52. mnmaverick says: Jul 1, 2010 8:48 PM

Bandwagoners rave about twelve championships 80% of those which came with 6 teams in the league and then try to rip on Viking fans for never winning a Super Bowl in the era of 28-32 teams. Give your team a 40 year head start in Championship collecting and then rave about your antiques. Nice…
We could say, “Well, the Minneapolis Lakers and Minnesota Golden Gopher Football team were powehouses back in the day and rave about our National Championships while asking how many the Badgers have? Or ask about the last time the Brewers were in a World Series?” That’s bandwagon.

Yeah, that. None of us matter in the eyes of the NFL whatsoever. As a Viking fan, you wouldn’t feel good about a Viking title though? You guys are set up for a major fall this year. And it all starts with Favre. He tried to do it the “right” way last year and what did it get him? Zilch! Nada! Nothing! What, like Aaron Rodgers did? 3-2-1…here comes the but, it’s not the same, he was fouled and the refs cheated us comments. Yeah, like the Saints didn’t take any cheap shots at Favre. Packer fans (at least the biggest online talkers) are a bunch of fickle hypocrites. All of your players are the best in the league, until they go elsewhere or threaten a holdout. At that point, they become bums and trouble makers. Even more impressively, that transformation seems to be retroactive, and all of the success they used to claim these players helped create was now created in spite of them. Best football fans…what a joke.

    Let’s take a moment…
Anyway I think Favre will be in camp this year. With the tough schedule the Vikes have, the first few games will be critical – he really should get to know the new guys.
Should be an interesting year with the probowl ladened squad plus the addition of Toby Gerhart, Joe Webb, Everson Griffen, Chris Cook and not to mention Lito Sheppard.

Everything I am about to say can be proven. I have a picture of me shaking hands with Vince Lombardi. I have photographs of me with Paul Hornung, Jim Taylor, Boyd Dowler, Max McGee, Bart Starr, Fuzzy Thurston, and too many other ex-Packer greats to list here. I attended the Ice Bowl. I was at the controversial 1965 Western Conference Championship when Don Chandler kicked the winning field goal, which led to the raising of goal posts because some say it went over the top of the post, not in-between. I have had access to my fathers (which are now mine) season tickets since 1957. These are just some of the reasons I feel entitled to my opinions. Now….let the crap storm begin.

I love reading all the hateful Packer fans. Favre’s a good football player with a typical superstar ego who wants everything he’s entitled to. He’s never been anything more or anything less than this. Ever. You guys just can’t see it.
Now the last two seasons he’s proved that he can drop into different teams late in camp and basically dominate. With the Jets the injury derailed him but he was great before it. All the Vikings teammates say they don’t care if he comes late as long as he comes.
Yet Packer fans make these posts about how he’s hurting his team and will make them suck. All I have to say is that Ted Thompson must sell a pretty good bag of BS because even after his crap being proven wrong twice you morons still cling to it. Do you realize how stupid you guys look to us?
QB’s that have played 18 seasons and are still rock are an exception to the rule. At 41 years old it is in the Vikings best interest for Favre to take time getting his ankle right rather than running around in the Mankato heat. The Vikings know what they are doing and have the best team in the division. And you know it deep down.

Really? Even after we told you how it would end badly, directly because of Favre? You and your fellow Viking fans forget that we have watched this guy for sixteen years…we know his tendencies…he has placed himself above it all too many times. You have had him for one spectacular and unexpected season, one in which he actually tried to be a teammate for once. And I can’t disagree with most everything else in your post. But enjoy it while you can. He is the bright light a bulb makes just before it burns out…the smooth writing instrument just as it runs out on ink…the never-run-better vehicle just as it runs out of gas. It’s coming. The law of averages requires it.

I honestly think the Packers will win the NFC North. I think the Vikes have a good team and will finish 10-6, good enough for a wild card berth. And what, beating the Packers twice last year (to improve to 3-5 against MM) proved what? We were a young 11-5 team and have improved from within. We made a move for the future regarding Favre, you sold your soul for one or two years. Long term, which team is in a better spot?

  92. RC IV says: Jul 2, 2010 11:40 AM

Playing the way he did last year led to the NFCCG. Why would he mess with the formula?
It’s conjecture and wishful thinking on your part that ” the law of avreages requires it”.
Face it, the only way the packers get by the Vikes is if Favre reverts to having to carry the team like he did with the Pack, he had to, TT wont get him any help.
He doesnt have to do that for the Vikes, and he knows it.
To expect him not to be nearlast season is idiotic.

I agree with much of what you said, especially the part about carrying the team. Favre was asked, by Childress, to carry the Vikings late last season. I think it caused a disruption within the rank-and-file and made him try too hard (again.) You saw the results, and AP wasn’t the same either (from that point on.) But to say the Packers need Favre to fail to assure their own success…you couldn’t be further from the truth. This is a good Packer team staring the Vikings down.

  94. PackFansLikeSheep says: Jul 2, 2010 11:55 AM

Long term the Vikes are in a way better spot cause they have management that is willing to use free agency and trades as well as the draft to put together the most talented team. And I’m pretty sure the Vikes will win the division again this year, the Packers just don’t have a pass rush and it’s to easy for top qBs to pick them apart, plus your OTs are ancient and injury prone and Rodgers holds onto the ball too much and plays hackysack too much.
Also, I have a pic of me shaking hands with Lombardi too, a couple of us dug him up last month just as a joke but then we thought we might as well shake hands with him and it was pretty cool until Ted Thompson came into the graveyard looking for a victim to feed on and we had to run for our lives.

I don’t honestly think the Vikings are as good top to bottom as the Packers. Definitely not as deep. Your whole point was that the Packers couldn’t possibly re-sign all of their FA’s and here we are on the cusp of training camp with the entire team back, minus Kampman (great team guy, great player, just not the right fit in the 3-4).
“Face it, the only way the packers get by the Vikes is if Favre reverts to having to carry the team like he did with the Pack, he had to, TT wont get him any help.”

The road down Favre worship never ends well. There were years (namely 05 and 06) that Favre’s erratic play hurt them more than it helped, like his 29 int year. 17 picks in the 4th quarter that year, can you imagine how God awful that is?

  97. RC IV says: Jul 2, 2010 12:28 PM

Ambrose, it’s a good team. It’s just a team that can’t beat the above.500 teams. Especially the ones with good QBS.
Favre twice, Big Ben, Warner….well you get the picture.
As long as Favre is there, the Pack have to battle for 2nd place.
The Pack is not nearly as good as you think they are. Defense was exposed. Creaky OL, no Harris….

Favre is just a proven winner. He’s won everything there is to win including the Super Bowl and he’s only had 1 losing season in 20 years.
Rodgers is going into his 6th year, he’s like 27 and I think he’s got talent but he hasn’t won anything yet, it’s so hard to know if he has what it takes to win a close game or a playoff game.

Face facts. Farve doesn’t care about championships, those are team records, and he’s about individual stats. Ask him about the ’96 SB and he’ll tell you about the audible HE called. That’s all he cares about. Numer uno.
What about all the film footage of him hugging the Lombardi and running around the field with it? Oh that’s right, there isn’t any.
He hurt his arm with the Jets, and wouldn’t sit down because of the streak, and killed their season! You think he’d go to Mangini and say “I’m hurt, you better sit me for the good of the team.” Hah! Never.

D-line. My favorite. Jenkins, Raji, Jolly and Pickett and the linebacking core are quietly the toughest team in the league to run against.
Meanwhile, the steroid masking Williams sisters and ‘roid rage, mullet-headed one trick pony (if only he could play against converted guards and backup tackles every game) can have the headlines. That’s what Minnie is all about anyway. Portraying an image. No substance. 1. Minnesota Vikings: When you start with the best defensive end in the league (Jared Allen(notes)) and perhaps the best 4-3 defensive tackle (Kevin Williams(notes)), that’s a pretty impressive foundation. Throw in Pat Williams(notes), who is one of the best run stuffers in the league even at 37, and complementary pass rusher Ray Edwards(notes), and you have a group that can do just about anything necessary.
    20. Green Bay Packers: Over the past four years, Green Bay has become the home of defensive linemen with unrealized potential. Cullen Jenkins(notes) never seems to stay healthy. Johnny Jolly(notes) never seems to stay out of trouble. B.J. Raji(notes) wasn’t consistent as a rookie in ’09. Justin Harrell(notes) just never seems. Bottom line, it’s pretty damning when journeyman Ryan Pickett(notes) is the most consistent guy on the depth chart. In fairness, there’s still plenty of time for Raji. But barring a stunning shift, the rest of the guys are what they are. The blame clearly lies with Ted Thompson who keeps drafting players like this and is too cheap to sign free agents although the problem may also be that free agents are scared to sign with a gay vampire.

What football idiot wrote the article you are referencing? High dollar free agency is NO way to build a team. Every few years you can suppolement your team with a big money free agent ONLY if it makes sense. The only way to build a core NFL team is through the draft. Supplement hear and there tactifully and cautiously through other means. But your core HAS to be the draft and Thompson is widely known by his peers as a draft genious.

#1 Rush Defense in the NFL…20th on Jason Cole’s list. I bet he has our linebacking core at 24 or something. Somehow this group of chodes is the #1 run stopping unit in the league, and #2 overall defense. Ahh, Suck, you returned once again. I was afraid we’d lost you for good when you called me an African and then ran for the hills with your tail between your legs.
Strange choice of insult, since I’ve never even been off of this continent, let alone as far as Africa.. I’ve been to 40+ US states, and also to other nearby countries like Canada and Minnesota, but nowhere else. I don’t see why.. but I digress.
That was arguably your most accurate post to date, so long as you remove the closing statement. Good work. I fully agree. You have to build your core through the draft. Then you use free agency, spend money occasionally, and also make trades to fill the holes in your roster (unless your name is Ted).
It shows you may actually know a thing or two about football, except, once again, for your closing statement. No one considers Ted a “genious” except for you, and you have to post under six usernames (and counting) to get anyone to back that up.
Ted has made a few good draft picks, but far more terrible ones, and his unwillingness to ever admit mistakes prevents him from improving in that regard. Hawk and Harrell alone would have cost many GMs their job, but he stands by them, and to this day considers them both smart picks. No one in the league considers that mentality the mark of a “genious”. No one.

  137. Majik Bullet says: Jul 3, 2010 10:22 AM

    Super
I have never once heard one of the other 31 NFL head execs. call Ted a draft “genious” (it’s genius by the way). And I doubt anyone else has either, because it’s never happened. But if it has, please, prove me wrong, and provide some evidence to back your BS.
Also, I believe Tom Benson would disagree with your theory of how to build a winning NFL team. I’m pretty sure that many of the core players on the Super Bowl Champion Saints came from trades and free agency.
Sorry to rain on your Teddy worship parade by throwing those pesky facts out there, but it had to be done.

  138. bluestree says: Jul 3, 2010 1:09 PM

@Soup and Majik; I agree Ted’s not a “draft genius”. Nobody is. The draft is a crapshoot, and going back and saying he drafted this guy or that is just hindsight. Of course, eventually he will be held accountable.
But the real point is this. When he came to Green Bay, there was no depth. Our defensive starters weren’t that good, and the backups were pitiful. Ted’s replaced nearly the whole team, and we have some decent depth. We’re on the cusp of being elite, and we’re young and we have some depth. That’s bad?
Somebody brought up Hawk. Say what you want, there are 20 teams he would start for tomorrow. Now you can point to anybody who went later and has had more sucess, but you can do that with anybody. That the way the draft is.
As far as the whole free agent thing goes, there’s more to it the just “signing” the guy. First, there has to be a player available you need. There are fewer of those guys every year. Free agency is nearly dead. If there is a big name free agent available, it’s because someone else wants rid of him. Second, the guy has to want to play in Green Bay, and let’s be honest, to a lot of young men, that is not appealing. It’s a fishbowl, and there’s little there that resembles the life a kid from Florida, Texas or California can relate too.
And again, for every impact free agent acquisition you can name, I’ll give you two that busted.
Ted isn’t a genius, but he was voted exec of the year by his peers. He is well regarded in the league. The only guys that have no respect for the job he’s done are fans. Like Hawk, if Green Bay dumped him he’d have a job tomorrow.

Normally, it would be a great accomplishment to build a team up to a playoff team in 5 years… if said team was a perennial bottom dwelling loser. But Ted was handed the keys to a team that hadn’t had a losing season in over 15 years, and has had 2 losing seasons in 5 years.
His team has finished 3rd and 2nd the last 2 years in a 4 team division. Now, I realize that Rodgers puts up great fantasy numbers, and that the defense looks great stat wise. But fantasy stats don’t win actual games. And that #2 defense was definitely exposed against the Cards, and they did nothing to upgrade it.
Rodgers once again put up impressive numbers in that game as well, but his early pick set the tone of the game, and the late fumblepunt is what sealed his teams’ fate.
As for players not wanting to be in GB just because of the non appealing climate and lack of local attractiveness, that may be part of it, but not all. Pittsburgh is a cold, dump of a city, yet they have no trouble bringing in players. It’s got a lot more to do with the level of talent, and how the management treats its players. Look at it from a player’s perspective. A potential free agent has to say to himself, “Wow, if they just shit all over Brett Favre, they wouldn’t think twice about giving me the shaft.” I know I would.
GB fans all pretend, and some may genuinely believe, they are better off without Favre, but truth be told, this could be something that the Packers’ franchise never recovers from.

Thankfully Ted has turned over a pitiful roster that he inherited that went 4-12 from Sherman. yes Thompson was hired but a GM cannot turn around a train wreck in 1 year. GM’s think of seasons like coaches think of games. they think long term. Impact players? What about Matthews? As a ROOKIE!!!!! Thankfully we shipped idiot Favre to the Jets for the pick that Ted craftily turned into Clay Matthews!!! jennings? No he isn’t an impact player. Finley?? Nah….him neither. Jones? nelson? nah….Williams? nah Collins? nah Majik you need to get over the Favre thing. he’s gone. Now hes throwing to high school kids instead of his own teammates at OTAS!! Maybe he should make the 2 hour flight and throw to his guys instead of 16 year olds. What a joke he is.

  145. bluestree says: Jul 3, 2010 5:01 PM

Hey Majik………So you’re contending that the team Ted inherited was a good team? That’s your argument? Hadn’t had a losing season in 15 years? And where they were had what to do with where they are going? Ted got an was an old, tired team headed south. Maybe he should ahve waited till we became the Detroit Lions before taking painful steps like letting Rivera (who did nothing in Dallas) or Wahle (who got all pro money for a couple of good years in Carolina but is now going on two years out of football) go?
And please with the “stats” argument. That is so weak. AR puts up great numbers so now that’s a bad thing, cuz he put up great numbers but didn’t win the Division or the Championship. It’s a team game, man. AR did all he could. And bringing up the end of the Cardinals game is so lame. He made some great plays in that game and a couple of big mistakes. Gee, BF never made mistakes in big games! Come on man!
Then you’re going to compare GB to Pittsburgh! My Steeler fan buddies will appreciate you calling it a “cold dump”. If you’re a young African American man, how hard is it to find a good barbershop in Pittsburgh? How hard is it to find some food that reminds you of what your mother made for you.? How hard is it to find a church to take your family that worships in the way to which you are accustomed? You heard Woodson say he didn’t want to come to GB. And it took him a while to adjust, and he played in Michigan!
And of couse, you had to bring up Brett, cuz that’s all this is really about, maybe? No player will tell you they shit on Favre. They say it all the time, it’s a business. The only people that think that are fans. Bottom line, it’s a business. The idea that the organization is the reason FA’s don’t want to come to Green Bay is cuz how they treated Favre is purely ludicrous.
Listen to Nick Barnett on NFLN. What he says about Rodgers, and maybe you’ll get it. “He’s in the locker room with the team…” Now Brett can suck up to the whole state of Minnesota to make himself look good, but he quit on the Packers and his teamates long before he left town.
I got news for ya, we recovered from Brett after ’08. As far as the Packers, and their real fans, that’s history. It’s the Vikings that will have to try to recover. You’ll see, and I’ll be here to remind you.

Tom Dimitroff and Jeff Ireland are probably going to disagree with you there, as do I. These guys took over 4-12 and 1-15 teams, and led them to 11-5 and playoff appearances in one year.
And you act like Ted traded Favre for Matthews heads up. In reality, Ted traded a QB who has been voted to 2 consecutive Pro Bowls since the trade, along with a 2nd and 3rd round pick for one Clay Matthews. Yep, that’s crafty. And for every othe Thompson draft “success” you can list, I can produce at least 3 failures.
No one ever said that you have to make Peppers and Haynesworth style signings. That’s foolish. But you’re only speaking in extremes, because using logic and speaking rationally aren’t your strong suits. I mean, look at the Saints. A few years of drafting well, making a few good trades, and being active, yet intelligent in free agency yielded them a Super Bowl win. Ted’s methods have resulted in 2 losing seasons and only one playoff win.

I never said Favre never made mistakes. In fact, I’m fully aware that he has, and I’m the first to admit it. Unlike the majority of Packer fans, who blame every loss during Favre’s tenure entirely on Brett, but conveniently call it a team game, a team loss, when Rodgers blows it at the end.
Fact is, Rodgers put his team in an early hole, then choked with a chance to win in OT, twice. Like I said, impressive stat line, but even more costly mistakes.
As far as Packer fans being over Favre since 2008, well, the 152 posts on an article about Favre throwing passes at his local high school just as he has done for the last 3 years makes it pretty evident that you aren’t even close to recovered.

    @ Majik,
You are correct. Packer fans are not over the Favre deffection. We either love him r hate him I fot one think he played us for fools and he’s played the Jets and Vikes for fools. He’s a great football player but a lousy human being. To get into why I think so would take pages of comment so I’ll let it go at that. Just because some still feel passionately about how Favre crapped on people who supported him through some of the worst times of his life doesn’t mean that we’d rather have him as our quarterback. I like Rodgers. He’s young and will make mistakes. Unfortunately Favre was his tutor (even though he didn’t want to be) so he probably has some bad habits to lose. He’ll be alright long term. I also believe the long term outlook for the Packers is brighter than the aging Vikings.
    @packfanslikesheep
I never said I fully supported TT. He’s made some lousy moves yet he has done some good things. I also think both he and McCarthy are on short leashes this year.

Dan Snyder is a moron who doesn’t know how to build a team. Ted is also a moron who doesn’t know the first thing about building a team. They may have different approaches to failure, but the end result is the same, so who cares?
It’s like Olbermann and Hannity. They spew very different opinions, but they are still equal at being douchebags. Reality is somewhere in between. It’s all about finding the balance.
You don’t need to sign Peppers, or trade away your first round pick every year. You also don’t need to avoid free agency and trades altogether. Hopefully the Packers’ next GM can bring some of that balance into the equation. Then, and only then, can they be a successful team again.

  159. bluestree says: Jul 4, 2010 11:05 AM

Majik; I’m getting a little confused. Are we talking about Packer fans or the Packer franchise?
Let me say this as far as the fans go; love and hate are two sides of the same coin, and given the situation, no, this will never be forgotten. But those of us who blame Brett for what happened have long since recovered. He’s gone, he’s a Viking, and we’re thrilled to have ARod, a tremendous young qb that will be around for a decade of more. If you blame Ted, then since he’s still around, I guess you haven’t recovered.
As far as the franchise is concerned there’s nothing to recover from. Beating Minnesota has always been a challenge, and always will be. You don’t think Ted Thompson or Mike McCarthy are worried about what the fans think about them? They know that all they have to do is win games with the guys they have, and if they don’t, it won’t matter if the fans think they “ran off” Favre or not.
When I’m doing my typical anti-favre rant, it isn’t because he wanted to play somewhere else. It’s because in the last couple of years Brett and the NFL have been exploiting this gunslinger myth, and I’m just here trying to show people who he really is.
“Brett, why did you throw all those interceptions?”
“Because I’ll do anything I can to give my team a chance to win.”
