Joe McKnight aims to "get his wind back"

Jets running back Joe McKnight desperately wants to change the first impression he made in New York while vomiting and cramping his way through rookie minicamp.

“I went home and worked on my cardio — I did a lot of core training and
running to get my wind back, ” McKnight told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “It’s helped me because a
lot of papers described me as lazy and not hard-working. I’m still
changing that perception of me.”

The New York tabloids will quickly forgive some meaningless minicamp fun if McKnight can produce on Sundays.  The former Trojan never quite lived up to the hype at USC, but the expectations remain modest for a fourth-round pick in New York.

Then again, we have little faith LaDainian Tomlinson will replace Leon Washington successfully.  McKnight is ultimately more important to the future of the Jets backfield.

Ladanian Tomlison — worn out. Leon Washington — coming back from major injury. Joe McKnight — can’t even make a good first impression. Thomas Jones? — BEST YEAR OF HIS CAREER, AND THE JETS LET HIM GO. Duh…

Sounds like he is getting his act together after an embarrassing debut. with Shonn at the helm I don’t think he is ultimately that important to our backfields future. He is a scat back and special teams return man that can be replaced. Rosenthal, you need to learn to think before you write dumb statements.

If by replacing Leon Washington you mean that L.T has to be a mean kick returner, you’d be right.
I don’t see any reason to doubt L.T’s ability to play as Kevin Faulk for a few years before calling it quits.

So, let me get this straight. You show up at your new job with your new employer, out of shape. A job that requires you to be in shape, and you cramp and vomit all over the place. Which seemed to be the result of a lack of conditioning, then you say their is this perception of me being lazy and not hard working. Yes, it’s not reality, just a perception..

Thomas Jones was god awful the last 6 games of the season, it was smart to release him. He’s just a slower version of Greene. At least LT can catch out of the backfield.

“Thomas Jones was god awful the last 6 games of the season”
LT was god awful the last 30 games

TheRamshackler — I can always tell when someone is blowing smoke. And you’re blowing some serious smoke. Go read for yourself, then tell us how he was any worse in the last 6 games than during any other 6 game stretch of the season: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2138

Getting his wind back? I guess he means trying to catch his farts in a bottle and save them for later.

LT will be just fine idk y anyone doubts it.

HellRelle24 — Maybe because there have already been published reports from NY that detail how much trouble LT is having with the new offense, and how worn down he looks. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/37824942/ns/sports-player_news/

Let’s face it—nobody can know ahead of time how well or how sucky LT is going to be in the role assigned to him. He’ll probably be required to catch the ball on dump offs, and if he can be in the right place and not drop the rock, he’ll contribute. And when people try to compare McKnight already to Leon in some positive or negative way, it might be good to remember that Leon wasn’t used in tons of plays in his rookie season. He contributed, but it took him a while to be the Leon Washington we came to admire—which he may or may not be able to be in Seattle after his injury.
I’d love to see LT do okay this season, although I’d put the chances at 50/50 at best. As long as he understands that he’s not about to be a featured back ever again, he might help the team. It’s hard to see someone who had some greatness in him become so limited—makes me admire the way Barry Sanders retired, leaving only good memories.

in the last six weeks of the NYJ season, Thomas Jones only had over a 3.0 ypc average once. If that’s not breaking down in the stretch, I’m not sure what is.
I watched every Jet game last season, and near the end of it, he was a decidedly negative factor.

He had 518 yards in those 6 games. That averages out to 86.3 yards a game which if you extend that out to a full season comes out to 1381 yards.
Not too bad for someone who lost a step.
Let’s face it, he ran the rock 331 times, which is the most he’s ever done that.
He had roughly the same number of carries that your QBs had attempts.
I doubt any other RB experienced that. Any one of us might be a bit beat up if they were in his shoes and he still put up decent numbers.
Now, I understand that Greene had betteer yds/att and if that’s the way the franchise wants to go, that’s understandable, but to say that LT is a better option than Jones, you gotta be smokin crack.
