Sean Payton’s new book Home Team, if nothing else, has provided a lot of fodder for the PFT rumor mill during the ssssslow period of the offseason.
Payton talked about a literal Super Bowl hangover, he imitated Bill Belichick, and revealed Reggie Bush wanted no part of New Orleans. Now comes a story from Bob Glauber of Newsday, who also spoke with Payton about his time in New York.
Payton had the flu for the NFC Championship game against the Vikings. He approached Favre before the game, gave him a fist bump, and said “I don’t want to give you guys the flu.”
Favre smiled and nodded toward Vikes coach Brad Childress. “Go over there and give it to Chilly.”
Payton adds, “He [Favre] was joking. I think.”
The only downside to leaking all these stories is that I’m no longer sure I need to buy the book.
