The Miami Dolphins generally have been avoiding questions regarding the team’s offseason outbreak of bad behavior, punctuated by defensive end Phillip Merling allegedly punching his pregnant girlfriend.
Recently, Sarah Talalay of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel tried to obtain on-the-record reactions from some of the high-profile female co-owners of the franchise. But the folks who handle such matters for Gloria Estefan, Venus and Serena Williams, and Fergie either ignored the requests or referred all questions back to the Dolphins.
After Serena Williams won on Saturday a championship at the possible location for Mike Vick’s next “All White” party, she attended a press conference to discuss the victory (apparently, she only shows up when she wins). The assembled media had their chance to get what could have been a potent sound bite regarding the men partially in her employ who choose to break the law by, among other things, beating up on pregnant women.
So what did the media do? They asked her about LeBron James.
Seriously.
