Sam Bradford doesn't think contract negotiations have started

Rams rookie quarterback Sam Bradford said last month that he expects to be signed before the start of training camp. But he said today that he doesn’t know much about the status of his contract, and doesn’t think his agent, Tom Condon, has begun negotiations.

“To be honest, I really don’t even think my agent is talking contract
yet,” Bradford said today on the Dan Patrick Show. “I think that’s
something that’s going to happen in the next couple weeks, though.”

The Rams open training camp on July 28, so Bradford, Condon and the team have three weeks to get a deal done — or else the first overall pick in the draft won’t be in camp on time.

Ultimately, Bradford said, he’ll sign his contract, “Whenever my agent feels comfortable with it.”

The Rams have been very good about signing draft picks so far. I can’t imagine them not getting it done. (They only have the 1st, 2nd and a 6th rounder to sign.) I would expect the dominos to start falling starting with the 6th rounder first.

Is this guy an f-ing idiot?
“There’s tens of millions of dollars at stake but I have no idea what is going on.”

How hard can it be? You take Staffords contract and raise it 3%…
There, now give me that commission.

Maybe if these rookies didn’t leave it up to their agents comfort status, there wouldn’t be holdouts to begin with…

Does Bradford realize Condon works for him, or does he think it’s the other way around?
There are a lot of teams that dislike Condon to the point that they stay away from players that use him as an agent. Condon has a history of keeping his players out of camp as a standard negotiating tactic. While that may not be that big of a deal for veterans, it makes a huge difference for rookies; there first season can easily become a complete waste because they are so far behind their teammates in understanding the playbook and developing timing.
If Bradford wants to be in camp on time, then he needs to give Condon orders to get the deal done before then; if he doesn’t, I won’t be surprised if the deal doesn’t get done until mid August.

The rams are lucky they have a kid that gets it. Bradford is concentrating on football and he is letting his agent earn the money he will get. Bradford is not an agent he is football player. Personally I like that he isn’t being a jackass about his money’s.
Do the Rams want an idiot like Jamarcus thinking of nothing but his contract and his money. Bradford will get paid just fine and the rams are lucky to have him.

This guy does not have the maturity or the balls to be an NFL QB.
“He’ll sign when his agent feels comfortable with it.”
What wimp and dummy!! It is like saying he has his funny haircut because the barber cut it that way.
    Another Tom Condon idiot client.

Sorry Bob, I have to agree with seals on this. Bradford is mature, has the balls and is smart.

Its nice to see that young talent is coming into the NFL as puppets for the sports agents.
I’m sure Condon, like most agents, will be focused on getting their own best payday since the rookie salary wage will kill this initial free money payday. Let it be known.., Bradford will report to camp when Condon gets paid.
If there’s a holdout.., it will be because of the agent’s need for more…, not the player. Bradford is already saying he wants to be there on time and will sign any good deal. Any agent that really cares about the best interest of the rookie, would have this one signed, sealed and delivered by now.

This tactic was tried by another fool last year. See: Crabtree, Michael.
As others said, the agent works for the player, and that player needs to dictate this part of the business and make sure stuff gets done, assuming the players wants to be there on time.

all the players have to do it tell the agent to get it done or you are through.
same with the CBA. the players need to tell de smith get it done or we find someone who will.

Sam’s been so caught up in the Twilight episodes and that really neat adventure novel his friend gave him, he hasn’t been paying attention. Besides, it’s summer vacation and school is out and everyone is down at the pool or over at the mall.

The Rams organization does well with signing picks it should be no issue by the time camp rolls around. Sam is more worried about football than his contract, as he should.

Haha. Look at all the conspiracy theorists on here. Bradford will be signed, sealed and delivered by start of camp. He is saying and doing all the RIGHT things thus far. He will do fine in this league…..

  15. douchie says: Jul 8, 2010 11:31 AM

how is anybody calling him immature? i’m sure that when training camp nears, he’d tell condon to get it done if he hasn’t already. bradford is focused on football and not the money, it’s good to have a player like him in the league, the nfl misses players like kurt warner and isaac bruce.
