A.J. Trapasso can't catch a break

One of the biggest names of the 2009 preseason was A.J. Trapasso.  The undrafted punter went untouched for a touchdown in the Hall of Fame game, and he later shtoinked a non-fake punt off the District 9 spacecraft hovering over the floor of Cowboys Stadium.

Since then, he has bounced around the league, most recently being cut by the Broncos.

So he landed with the Hartford Colonials of the UFL, where he presumably would be able to stick around for the season, given his ability to remain on the fringes of the NFL.

Presume again.

Trapasso is out, and Aussie punter Jy Bond has joined the team.

Bond recently was cut by the Giants, with whom he had signed in March.

And so Trapasso’s quest for another chance to score a touchdown and/or touch a scoreboard continues.

Well, the way Italy played at the World Cup, he could probably catch on there if all else fails.

I think the rest of the season showed that he boinked one off the screen just to prove he could. That limits my sympathy for him. Punt like you mean to punt in the real game.

Wow. A UFL punter got cut. No new leads on that Vick story, eh?

Should have worked more on technique, less on trying to hit the video screens.

You’d think the Packers would give him a look. Is there a team with a worse punting situation than Green Bay?
