Browns sign Carlton Mitchell

The Cleveland Browns have announced that they’ve signed one of their sixth-round draft picks.

Carlton Mitchell, a wide receiver from South Florida taken 177th overall, signed his contract today.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Mitchell was a two-year starter at South Florida who had 105 catches for 1,648 yards and nine touchdowns in his college career. Mitchell is credited as being a physical player who’s a good blocker and willing to go over the middle.

  1. BAAM!!! The city Cleveland Strikes back by signing one of Southern Florida’s own!!! I guess Florida aint so special after all. Sure they got King James, but Cleveland now has Carlton Mitchell! Time will tell who gets the better of the two cities as these signings play out….

  2. ‘Mitchell is credited as being a physical player who’s a good blocker and willing to go over the middle.’
So he’s the exact opposite of Braylon Edwards? Sounds good.

  3. Good value pick by Cleveland.
They made some reaches in the draft (Tj Ward,) but I think they also had some value. Especially in Mitchell in McCoy. Also Clifton Gathiers in the 6th could prove to be an absolute steal in a few years.
The reach makes some people grade the draft a C+ or B, but those who look at the later rounds see the value and give it an A.
In fact I believe Mike Florio himself gave Cleveland (along with Carolina,) his highest draft grades. Though I saw it on TV and am not %100 sure is Florio and not the dude who looks like Florio.
