Charles Woodson escapes before fire burns house to ground

Packers cornerback Charles Woodson was one of 11 people who escaped a house fire in Bay Harbor, Michigan, on Saturday, WTMJ is reporting.

No one was injured, but the multimillion-dollar home burned to the ground.

According to the report, Woodson and his business partner, Rick Ruiz, were in the home and smelled smoke around 4 a.m.

The Petoskey News-Review reports that there was a gathering at the home for “a celebration for the family for a large gift and naming of the University of Michigan Women’s Hospital.”

Woodson donated $2 million to the hospital last year. The owner of the home that burned down is a member of a family whose foundation donated $15 million to the hospital.

    Enough with the “classy” comments.
There isn’t a shred of class anywhere on this site, and that’s precisely how we like it. All the Viking fans, Pack fans, Saints fans, Steelers fans (who are the worst of all), and everyone else that posts here, right on up to Florio, have no class whatsoever. If that’s a problem, you’re in the wrong place.
That being said. Let’s let all the Pack haters get their jabs at Woodson now. We know they won’t have much to say about the man once the season begins. Thankfully, at least no one got hurt in the fire.

  65. Justin says: Jul 14, 2010 2:55 AM

I’m a Raiders fan and Charles Woodson was my favorite Raider for a long time. He’s still one of my favorite players, Aso taking his place as #1. I’m glad to see he and everyone seems to have made it out safely. He was never this mature while he was in Oakland and still a young man helping out with charities and such. I wish he would’ve had the maturity to study film and not party as much while in Oakland but I can’t blame him when I’m guilty of the same thing (being young and partying). I’m glad he finally grew wiser. I just wish it were with Oakland, although he would be extremely miserable right now. Ha.

No…. It had nothing to do with the P.F.T. articles, or the information provided by Florio and his staff.
P.F.T. has “Jumped The Shark” by allowing readers to post more than one comment in each article.
Why on earth, PFT would allow the BRILLIANT comments by readers to be watered down by an idiot who continues to bait people to respond to his comment’s is beyond me.
The greatest thing about this site WAS ABOUT the articles, and then the one line great comments by the readers.
Now… The comment section is becoming a trash talk idiot fest against other people who have posted comments.

Bitter and envy is their trademark and it goes well beyond the fan base, it extends to their management and ownership who seem to think the best way to build a team is to take your rivals castoffs. That ignores the fact that there might have been a reason the Packers were letting these players go in the first place ( see BrINT’s INT in the NFC championship game for example).
If you ever wondered what no Lombardi trophies might do to the psyche of a fan base, just read the comments from the Viking fans above. Proof that choking in the big games can have devastating consequences

If you have the time and motivation to come on here and do that, that’s fine I suppose. However, at least do it creatively or say things that are true. Saying the defending defensive player of the year can’t cover receivers isn’t funny or an insult to the team/player, it only makes you come off as an idiot.
Also, when 90% of your jokes/insults revolve around someone’s supposed liking of the same gender it shows your lack of cerebral ability to come up with something creative.

Cue the haters from Minnesota. Never about class, always being haters. GB fans would have class enough to be thankful everyone is okay. They have those values, along with loyalty, that you would never know.
    —————————————————————–
i, as a vikings fan, would like to express my relief that everyone in this situation is okay. things can be replaced, human life cannot…there are enough tragedies that happen in just the small sample of humanity that is the nfl and i am glad to see it turned out a lot better than it could have been.
that said…the first place you had to go to was the fans. you didn’t say how glad you were woodson is okay…you immediately had to try and take the comments to a sub-human level with the petty rivalry crap.
GB fans can be just as classless as the rest of the nfl’s fans. i dunno how many times i’ve read a jackass comment about the I35 bridge falling in MN-a situation in which PEOPLE ACTUALLY DIED-from a cheesehead on this site. i’ve also personally witnessed a middle aged cheesehead physically threaten a child of no more than 10 because he had a vikes jersey on.
don’t pretend your precious packers have an immunity to jackass fans. EVERY team has those fans. to pretend otherwise is denial, delusion, and idiocy.
you and bob nelson can take your false righteousness and shove it up your cheeseholes.

Jared Allen holds drunk redneck golf tournaments, Charles Woodson is donating money to a women’s hospital.

you mean drunk redneck CHARITY golf tournaments…haha
seriously though does anyone ever notice that the closer we get to the season the more amplified and more juvenile the trash-talk gets? the anticipation is palpable.
oh, and if you get sucked in to pervy’s banter, he wins…just so you know…

only half serious…pervy’s whole purpose on these boards is to say anything (no matter how outlandish) to will rile up the packer faithful. this is his goal. if you get sucked in he has achieved his goal…this is what i meant by he wins.
“he wins” doesn’t mean he’s right…it means he got the effect he wanted.
some would call him a “troll”. i have yet to determine whether bob nelson is one of these trolls or whether he really is as nuts as he comes off.

    @Bob Nelson
While other teams have players facing suspension this offseason the Green Bay Packers players are out donating money to hospitals and doing good for society.
Thank goodness for the moral leadership of the Green Bay Packers and their players. Too bad the rest of the NFL cannot come close to their example”.
Ummmmm, does that include Johnny Jolly, dumbass . . .
