No progress on first-round negotiations

We’ve mentioned that no first-round picks have signed rookie deals. But the fact that no contracts have been signed doesn’t necessarily mean there has been no progress behind the scenes.

In this case, it does.

A league source with knowledge of the pace of the negotiations tell us that the talks are going “very very slowly.” In many cases, the discussions primarily focus on possible meeting dates.

The source believes that most if not all of the second-round picks will have to agree to terms before any significant progress can be made as to the first-round selections.

Meanwhile, the first camp opens in less than two weeks -- and the Cowboys’ first-round pick is receiver Dez Bryant, whom many believe could be this year’s version of Michael Crabtree.
