Sean Lissemore becomes first Cowboys rookie to sign

The Dallas Cowboys have finally gotten into the act of signing rookie draft picks.

According to Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys on Wednesday came to terms on a four-year deal with seventh-round pick Sean Lissemore.

A projected defensive end in Dallas’ 3-4 scheme, Lissemore is listed at 6-foot-4 and 298 pounds. He recorded 14 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and two interceptions as a senior at William & Mary.

Defensive end is among the deepest positions on the Cowboys’ roster, so Lissemore also took reps at nose tackle during offseason workouts. Jay Ratliff is Dallas’ starter at the position.

Lissemore will have to really stand out in training camp to earn a 53-man roster spot. Most likely, the Cowboys will attempt to sneak him through waivers and sign him to the practice squad in September.
