Vikings have played in 4 superbowls in their approximate 50 years existence. This is one every 12.5 seasons. Your odds of winning a $200k scratchoff are probably closer to one in 500,000 tickets or more.
This "joke" is just stupid enough to appeal to dorks and morons. Obviously it was written to attract the Vikings' incredibly low brow rivals. And judging from the comments it worked beautifully.
Well done Florio. If only you could lead sheep off of a cliff as well as you do into our threads...

"Now they can spend more money on Vikings tickets with a far less likely chance of paying off."
I think history shows that as being debatable as far as Super Bowls are concerned. They'll probably have a pretty good regular season again.

Thanks for that about the NFL not going to approve a Vikings move. I'd seriously hate to see that. Way too much history.
Heck, if the NFL let the Vikings move we couldn't come on here and have all this fun....

People always talk about the Bucs, Chargers and Billss as the teams most likely to move but the Vikings will not get a new stadium in Minnesota (Government there is vehemently against it and the governor has vowed to kill all stadium deals) and they desperately need a new one.
Unless Ralph Wilson dies in the next year (Bills will move when he does) the Vikings are the most serious threat to move to LA, followed by the Bucs.
And also, the Vikings needed an extension to sell out a playoff game last year and that is awful. Good or decent teams (looking at you, Bucs) shouldn't have any empty seats. Teams like the Lions or Rams have an excuse but certainly not teams who are have won 7 games in a season or are IN the playoffs.
----------------------------
Uh you couldn't be more wrong on this one... I hate it when people talk like they know what they're talking about and yet know nothing about the situation... Minneapolis/St. Paul is the 15th largest market in the United States, the NFL already said that they will not approve to move the Vikings out of Minnesota because it wouldn't make any sense to do so. There are teams in much smaller markets i.e. Buffalo, Jax, even Oakland and San Diego.... The Vikings will not move so please everybody just stop hating.

A shame the Florio version of this story left out so many facts...like that the Vikings will now be the 19th team to have such a lottery, after they waited a year on the legalities. That the Vikings got approximately $ 200,000 to allow the state to use their logo, and that once sales go over $ 9 million, there will be revenue sharing with the team; and that John Randle is the spokesman for this initiative. There's lots more, wish the story here included some of the additional info.
The poster that mentioned "regressive tax" is dead on right, lotteries are typically played by the lowest socio-economic class out there, as a desperation retirement plan. I guess Jimmy Smith is in line for tix right now...

I'm surprised the NFL would allow a gambling connection. Seeing as the vikes aren't really an NFL team anyway they'll probably let it slide.
___________
So does this mean that the Packers got beat down twice last year by a UFL team?

Sounds about right

@Bordner
Are you seriously implying that the Vikings don't have fan support???
I'm sure someone has the exact year but they have sold out every game for as long as I can remember. The problem is, your dealing with dumb politicians. Also you got people who aren't football fans who don't realize how much revenue the vikings bring in now and how much more a new stadium would bring in
We love our sports teams and we have as much love for at least 3 out of the 4 four major sports(NFL, MLB, NHL) as any other city/state in the U.S.
here is how I see the blame for a potential move to L.A.:
30% economy/budget deficit
70% Bull headed people

I'm surprised the NFL would allow a gambling connection. Seeing as the vikes aren't really an NFL team anyway they'll probably let it slide.
___________
So does this mean that the Packers got beat down twice last year by a UFL team? Please, think before you speak.

Another nonstory. The Vikes just joined 18 other NFL teams - including the Packers - that are taking advantage of the league letting them make deals with state lotteries to use their logos on scratch off games.
And no Steeler79, Goodell already ruled out the Vikings as a possible team to be relocated to LA according to Ed Roski who is building the stadium in LA. The league said it has to be a smaller market team which probably means Jax.

Funny......the MN lottery determined that 45% of their scratch off tickets are bought by people from ..........Wisconsin. I'm sure the Vikings and State of MN appreciate it. Nobody ever nominated packer fans as being the smartest.

You know WI as it's own lottery, right?

So does OK but along the border, people from other states will play the other's lottery.
