Pete Carroll says the Seahawks won't sign Terrell Owens

Teams continue to speak out that they don’t want Terrell Owens.

Speaking on 710 ESPN in Seattle, Pete Carroll said the team wouldn’t sign T.O.  Carroll said he went way back with Owens (to his rookie season) and liked him, but that the Seahawks would “continue to work with the guys we’ve got and be in a “different direction” than that.

Carroll mentioned some of the “young guys” at the position, although they are scheduled to come off the bench. Deion Branch and T.J. Houshmandzadeh could hardly be young guys.

The Seahawks would rather pay Branch $5.47 million than pay less for Owens, which says a lot about Owens’ market value.

    Deion Branch sucks.

I’m no TO fan or hater but to have him there for less than deon branch is a no brainer. Housh and branch are both #2 receivers and are long in the tooth as Owens. But Owens is a #1 type receiver who is in better shape than either of those guys. Here Carroll goes again with another mediocre run in the NFL

Owens will get in a team. I hope it’s a better team then the Bills. Any team that needs a WR should b giving him the money he wants. Owens is better then any WR that Oakland, Denver, Carolina, Kansas, New York (Jets), Minnesota, Buffalo, Cleveland, Tampa bay, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Chicago and Seattle.

Pete Carroll isn’t making a mistake in ths case.
    T.O. is locker room poison.

Boy – I was getting worried there, for a moment, that the Pete Carroll Talk column was out of commission for a whole day……

T.O. would be a great fit in Chicago…
    just do it already.

Terrell Owens is going to Tampa Bay.
    I’ve got sources.

Well, I don’t think that Deion Branch makes it through the pre-season in Seattle. They’ll cut him in favor of cheaper options.

  10. FumbleNuts says: Jul 19, 2010 8:03 PM

Deion Branch and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are better receivers then T.O.??
Spare me the details, you have to be kiddin’ me!

FYI Florio and Branch haters – all depth charts with a clue have Tate and Hoosh starting and Branch on the bench fighting with Butler for snaps.

Dixon29, you are absolutely right! Seahawk fans need and want TO.

this all stems from T.O. admitting he wants to be an interior decorator after football. Gay as a french horn

  15. Ravenmuscle says: Jul 19, 2010 8:21 PM

What T.O. doesn’t get is that good teams don’t want him because he’s a locker room poison, he isn’t worth $5 mil, he’s old, he drops a lot of balls, he wants every ball thrown to him, and the only place he’ll end up is somewhere that they are having trouble selling tickets….like the Bills did last year

  16. youngtorice says: Jul 19, 2010 8:32 PM

Fine with me. It just makes it easier to keep the seachickens in 3rd place. Housh proved he was nothing without having a player like ocho being double teamed on the other side of the field on every play. Branch just plain sucks, but it doesn’t matter anyway. Hasselbroke will be injured by week 4. Maybe week 1 if he’s stupid enough to try to dive for yardage against Patrick Willis again!

Good thing the Seahawks traded their first round pick for Deion Branch.
I was hoping earlier in pre season the Seahawks would cut Branch making him available to reconnect with Brady and now I know he could not make the Patriots roster as it stands today.
Poodle Pete should shut his mouth.

The fans that have brought up Minny or K.C as places he could play show they have no idea why he is still not signed. And view him more as an X-box player or fanasty guy.
What was it TO said to the OC in Philly? “You don’t talk to me, I talk to you” Who is the head coach in Minny now?
And when he went to the press and said he no longer trusted his WR coach in Dallas and would not talk to him any longer. Who is the head coach in KC now?
When TO burned bridges with 3 different teams. Do you not think that many on those staffs took other jobs with other teams?

That also says a lot about the reason the Seahawks can’t put together a competitive team.

i’m a seattle fan, and i think the last thing we need is another aging wide receiver on the roster!! it doesn’t look like we are gonna be making a run at the super bowl this year so why take on the extra luggage. it’ll only add stress to the locker room and take reps away from the young guys. what we need to do is try and trade hill and a pick for a younger up and coming wide receiver! T.O, Housh, Branch old and fading out!!

  24. gatorbaitnow says: Jul 19, 2010 9:50 PM

Miami please sign T.O. You will get him at a steel just like Bess. Imagine Miami with Marshall on one side T.O. on the other and the other studs in the middle. Miami would be dangerous!!!!

  25. VASeahawk says: Jul 19, 2010 10:15 PM

Hawks don’t need TO. He will sign for a year and take reps away from the young guys like Tate and Butler. Then next year when they should be stepping up their games, they will be behind due to TO. TO is a short term answer for some team, Hawks need long term vision at this point. Good call Carroll.

  26. FumbleAllDay says: Jul 19, 2010 10:35 PM

    Gatorbaitnow,
TO will go to Miami… the heat! Have u seen him ball? He is a beast and I’m sure he could back up lbj. Parcells wouldn’t date sign the “player” would he?

  27. rovibe says: Jul 19, 2010 11:00 PM

TheOne says: “Owens is better then any WR that Minnesota has…” ——————– Dude, please. Minnesota sent two of their 3 starting WR’s to the Pro Bowl last year — Sidney Rice, who finished 4th in the league in receiving yards, and Rookie of the Year winner Percy Harvin. T.O. wouldn’t even crack their roster.

Maybe TO will end up in Denver, where he’ll get to play with Brady Quinn…and I mean play with Quinn!!! (Ravenpenis would understand)

  32. phillyfinsfan says: Jul 20, 2010 7:03 AM

I don’t want T.O. in Miami. He’s a cancer in the locker room. The Phins already have a nice group of #2 receivers who will be able to find more space to run with Marshall in the fold. T.O. has to be the most insecure person I’ve ever seen. He demands constant attention or he will act out until he gets it. My four year old is more mature than him.

  33. TheDPR says: Jul 20, 2010 7:54 AM

Owens and Housh are the same type of relatively slow possession WR except Housh has slightly better hands.
I can see why they don’t want Owens. They need a different sort of player. Granted, Branch isn’t that player either.

    T.O. to the Colts.
