Packers sign third-rounder

As training camps approach, more and more players are agreeing to rookie contracts.

Except, that is, for first-rounders.

The latest non-first-rounder?  Packers safety Morgan Burnett.  The team announced the deal today.  (Reports of an agreement arose several days ago.)

Burnett, who played college football at Georgia Tech, is the fifth of seven draft picks to agree to terms with the Packers.  Terms of the deal, however, weren’t disclosed.

Not gonna matter, they have a gay QB and the worst GM in the game. (Trying to sound like the usual suspects on here)
Btw – when does the worst GM in the game have an 11 win and 13 win seasons under in his tenure? And players like Rodgers, Finley, Jennings, Matthews, Woodson, Collins, Grant all acquired since he took over. Shouldn’t his team be a plain Jane – devoid of talent, a team that looks like the Browns teams of the past few years?

  4. Gophersnot says: Jul 20, 2010 6:13 PM

    OK Bob and Jimmy,
Let me guess. Morgan Burnett will be the best safety for the best defense for the best team in the best state in the best universe for all eternity.
First question though. Who the hell is Morgan Burnett?

  5. TedTheSledge says: Jul 20, 2010 6:18 PM

The team always waits until the league has the approved paperwork before announcing officially … when is the Neal deal??? I hope the Jolly news on friday has not caused him and his agent to get more demanding after it was looking last week like they were close.

LOL at you Packer douchers…Ted ” I only draft” Thompson sucks on so many levels….
Ted Thompson sucks because he is not doing his job well. Period. He ran the icon of your franchise out of town and doesn’t try to put an better team on the field. He took an above average roster, made it a below average one, and now it is sitting at average with no signs of getting better.
Losing Brett Favre is not the only problem( Yah,yah rodgers is good but Favre was your ICON!!!). The problem is that he took an all-pro offensive line, completely destroyed it, and has completely neglected it ever since. The problem is that he has been a piss poor drafter with the exception of one position: WR. The problem is that he refuses to spend the millions and millions of dollars you have under the cap and take you to the next level.
Ted Thompson should have been fired for more than a few years now, and you all know it.
Joe Montana beat the 49ers after he went to KC. You know why no one pays attention to that? Because the 49ers won the Super Bowl the same year. You know why everyone will remember Favre’s wins over the Packers? Because the Packers are not a good team, and it’s because of that bug-eyed,homo clown with an ego that eclipses even Brett’s that runs your roster. OUT!

That same GM just happened to be GM of the Year in 2007, and the runner up last season. Yep, he sucks.

Morgan is the daughter of Carol Burnett. We will refer to her as Carol Jr. from now on.

ted thompson doesn’t seem like the worst gm in the game to me, he just seems really mediocre which is why he has a mediocre record after 5 years. his teams won’t usually suck but he also won’t do enough ($$$) to put them over the top, and he’s pretty much hit or miss in the draft. spielman is WAY better than thompson, he drafts Pro Bowlers, signs Pro Bowlers and trades for Pro Bowlers.

  11. Sacram3ntal says: Jul 20, 2010 6:49 PM

Still can’t believe this kid was still there in the third round.
Don’t be surprised when Burnett looks like one of the biggest steals of this draft class in 2 years time.

Pervy – I agree that Brett was a pretty good player for a long time for us.
At the end of the day – he just didn’t have the mental toughness to win the big game when it mattered. ARog is obviously without question a more intelligent and physically resilient QB than Brett ever was. But that’s OK. Brett will still go down as the 3rd best QB in Packer history.
Maybe beating the Pack twice with a ringer QB is good enough for the Queens, but here in GB nothing but championships will be accepted.

Once again you’ve outdone yourself, Pervy. This is a classic example of Pervyism at its finest. In the interest of space I’ve replaced your rant with a reasonable facsimile.
Yeah, I’m sure the 49ers were crying in their beer over losing a regular season game to the Chiefs. But that shiny LOMBARDI trophy they picked up in January probably made it hurt a little less. Or maybe the fact that Steve Young became a HOF QB and proved them right.
At least the Chiefs still have that 1994 week 2 regular season trophy in their trophy case. Wait, what? You don’t get trophies for revenge games? Oh. Sucks to be you, then.
In retrospect I really like your analogy, Pervis. Sounds like you’re on our side.

    Wow – nice current reference!
I think the last time Carol Burnett was relevant was back when the Queens were relevant (oh wait… the closest the Queens ever came to being relevant is when they signed our ex-QB, so that would be last year… and before that, the only ones who cared about them lived in East Dakota).

more intelligent and physically resilient?? what????? favre holds the all time consecutive starts record, not to mention all the other records, MVPs, superbowl ring – and rodgers after 5 years in the league has accomplished… what exactly? 17 regular season wins?

  18. MACK DADDY says: Jul 20, 2010 7:38 PM

Ya, Speilman is way better than Thompson, he just hasn’t been GM of the Year like Teddy. Kinda like the Vikings are a way better franchise than the Packers, they just haven’t won a superbowl yet. Keep wearing pigtails and shoving horns up your a$$ you buffoons.

  19. NoGravyForSconnies says: Jul 20, 2010 8:04 PM

thompson has 2 winning seasons and 1 playoff win in 5 years and he’s the cheapest gm in the league. if that’s what you like then you must be a masochist like your gay gm.

  20. flop 4 strahan says: Jul 20, 2010 8:06 PM

    Sorry Pervy –
Brett’s lack of toughness is CLEARLY obvious to anybody who knows anything about football.
ARog played 30 min. of football on a broken foot and 1/2 a season w/ a separated shoulder. No contest.
I’m sure Fanny Tarkington could teach Brett a ting or two about what it takes to be a man.

  21. flop 4 strahan says: Jul 20, 2010 8:13 PM

    I agree Brett’s fantasy stats are impressive…
He just clearly doesn’t have the manly grit or physical toughness to perform well when the pressure is on. Now, just because Brett chokes in big games doesn’t make him a bad QB. On the contrary – Let’s say my life depended on a QB winning a meaningless regular season game for me – Brett’s my guy.

  22. mattgso says: Jul 20, 2010 8:29 PM

Funny thing is all the bi-queen favre apologists are the same ones that hoped Hovan would hurt him when favre was a Packer.

What a bazarro f’ing world we live in. I remember in college, my roommate from MN laughing when we thought Favre blew out his knee against Washington (I was about to cry). Now, that same guy loves Favre and acts like he always has and I am tempted to go the way of Cleveland Fan and burn the shit out of everything Favre that I own. Bunch of hypocrites we all are.

And Jerry Angelo has two 13 win seasons and another 11 win season including three division titles and a trip to the Super Bowl and most of the people that know anything about football think he sucks.
Then again Packer fans really don’t much of anything let alone football.

“ARog is obviously without question a more intelligent and physically resilient QB than Brett ever was.”
Without a doubt, the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen on here. No PLAYER in the history of the NFL has been as resilient as BF….let alone a qb. And just because Rodgers punts the ball to the defense vs. Favre’s throwing it, doesn’t mean he’s smarter. 33 tds vs. int’s is pretty impressive in my book….but keeping talking shit…maybe you can convince yourself you guys don’t need him.

pervy and no gravy are shakin’ in their boots. whether either of you want to admit it, aaron rodgers is the only quarterback in nfl history to throw over 4000 yards in his first two seasons as a starter. TWO SEASONS. do we forget he has only started for two seasons? no matter how much you dream about servicing him. favre is not the favre of days past… and by days past, i mean maybe the LATE 90S…… i mean come on. you’re as bad as cowgirl fans getting in my face about their five superbowl rings. hahahahaha. the question is…. will your big daddy be back? wont he? he will! he wont… wait… will he?

  30. 2Blackaces81 says: Jul 20, 2010 10:17 PM

As a Vikings fan, this pains me to say it, but I’d rather have A.Rodgers on our squad. I dont like want to bash the my fellow vikes fans’ but Rodgers isnt gay, in fact he is dating a f’n goregous singer(hillary scott of lady antebellum). But back to football, TT”s only good signing has been Charles Woodson, but it doesnt matter cause the pack wont even make the playoffs and the mystique of lambeau is well…DEAD

  33. RealMenDONTWearPurple says: Jul 20, 2010 11:19 PM

To all you Viking fans……Why do you care soooo much about the packers?? Telling us how bad are team is and our GM, and how we let a Icon leave our team? Did that Icon win a championship since he left? No….The packers suck? they’ve had 2 losing seasons on 19 years….Our GM Sucks? He’s one of the best talent evaluaters in the league…
So you Viking fans, to sit there and preach about our team, maybe you should look at your own, and see that you have never won a Super bowl, let alone, been to one since 1975?

  34. SoupSandwich says: Jul 21, 2010 2:41 AM

Pervy, sir, Thompson may suck, but his teams have won exactly as many Super Bowls as your team has during his tenure.
What does that say about YOUR GM?

  35. Strick says: Jul 21, 2010 12:24 PM

  36. TedTheSledge says: Jul 21, 2010 12:33 PM

Actually Thompson has a SB victory and another appearance as personnel director of the Packers during the 1996-1997 seasons before being promoted to a gig in Seattle. People seem to forget this is his second go around with the Pack.

  37. RC IV says: Jul 21, 2010 1:43 PM
