Brad Childress: "All quiet" on Favre front

Vikings coach Brad Childress was interviewed by the Associated Press on Friday, and was again evasive when asked about the 2010 plans for Brett Favre.

Childress called the situation “all quiet,” and indicated that his recent trip to Hattiesburg, Mississippi was made to improve his relationship with the wishy-washy quarterback.
Minnesota’s head coach added that he’s on good terms with running back Adrian Peterson, who was conspicuously absent from the team’s June minicamp.  Childress called Peterson’s lack of participation “not the end of the world.”

Cue the Fackers fans on hating all the diva attention BF gets.
It’s not BF’s fault that all of the media attention is on him, it is the media’s fault, they just will not leave the wrangler king alone, leave him alone untill the third week of the pre-season.

You know what I think is funny is that for the next 2 to 3 weeks everybody is going to rip Brett Favre apart. But for what? He’s not creating a “circus” or “flip flopping” his decision. The media is doing this. This website, nfl.com, espn & all the major sporting websites and news networks.
Brett Favre has no retired this offseason. He’s said all along that it all rides on the ankle he had repaired. He hasn’t said yes or no. He has made any indications he won’t return. He’s under contract. Whether he decides to return or not doesn’t matter. Fact is the MEDIA CREATES THIS CRAP. SHUT THE SHIT OFF! If he shows he shows.

here’s something i’ve been wondering about packers fans.
most of the ones that comment on these message boards still go into fits of rage every time favre’s name is mentioned and still say they love ted thompson even though he’s only got 2 winning seasons and 1 playoff win in 5 years as gm which obviously means they love him in spite of his record as packers gm so presumably they love him because they hate favre.
and yet you also hear about for sale signs still being left on ted thompson’s yard all the time. practically every weekend there’s something on the radio in the news about someone leaving a for sale sign on ted’s yard in the middle of the night and ted with his filipino houseboy come racing outside in their bathrobes just in time to shake their fists at the culprits who are running away and laughing.
so my question is, if all packer fans really hate favre and love thompson, why does thompson keep getting all the for sale signs stuck on his lawn??

What if Brett Favre doesn’t come back just to stick it to the Vikings? One last poke-in-the-eye from a former Packer!
Although pervy did say he’s talked to Mr. Favre and said he was coming back. Have to believe him.
Look, Favre is/was a great quarterback. I have loved watching him play since he got to the Packers. He isn’t robotic (how many teams would draft a player with his footwork/throwing motion) and plays the game as a game.
He just stopped playing well in the big games. In COLD big games. He’s 13-11 in playoffs but only 4-6 since 2001.
I’ll look forward to watching him play again this year. Except when I’m cheering for the Packers! I don’t hate the man, just the drama he brings.

Sorry, Brett, but I hope you play this year because the Vikes are not going to do shit. I predict the Lions will beat them at least once, and Packers and Bears will also beat them once. 8-8.

So after Favre leaves or your beloved team leaves will your local newspaper begin covering the Packers again?

I’m sure your head would explode too having your football idol dump all over you. If there were blogs back then I’m sure you would be going on to every Packer story every day without fail to insult the Packers fans in anyway you could in order to vent. Favre’s INT did not end or lose the game. Hey moron-it went to OT, and with more than favorable homer calls, the Saints won the game.
I know it makes packer fans feel better to remember it in their own way. Without Favre in that game, who played EXTREMELY well, we wouldn’t have been in the position we were in.

It must feel nice though getting absolutely embarrassed by Brett those 2 games last year. I mean 41-59 515 yds, and 7 TDs against the Packers in 2 games is just hilarious. Oh yeah funny how your “superstar” Rodgers cost you your playoff game last year as well. If only he didn’t hold on to the ball for 40 minutes every snap. Or if he didn’t overthrow Jennings (who had nobody within 10 yds of him) with his “brilliant accuracy” that could of sent you to play the Saints. It always seems like Rodgers can never come close out a game, or come back and win one.

  49. nutnbutnet says: Jul 24, 2010 2:57 AM

There are major problems with the Vikings. My sources tell me that Childress is furious with Favre for some personal insults that were conveyed to him by Darrell Bevell, which involved comunication from Favre to Peterson and other team leaders, essentially undermining Chilldress’ authority, calling him a fool who could not even recognoze his own son while in Iraq. Despite their statements to the media, discussed and agreed upon in a players only team meeting this spring, Viking veterans had expressed their displeasure with the preferential treatment of Favre, especially the defensive leaders.
Peterson was chosen to speak to Favre by the veteran leadership commitee, who responded by calling into question Childress’ ability as a game day coach. According to my sources, Favre told Peterson he didn’t think the team was treating Peterson fairly in regards to the extention of his contract as well.
Favre reportedly told Jared Allen that he didn’t think Childress was a capable coach, and that he would not return if he was not given assurances that he would be able to approve all game planning and offensive personnel decisions. He let it be known that he wanted Sage Rosenfels gone, because of a personality conflict.
Eventually it was Rosenfels who went to Bevell, after Webb was unexpectedly given Rosenfels reps on orders from Favre, who shared Favre’s evaluation of the head coach with Childress.
Sources close to the Vikings believe it is Bevell that is playing both sides in an attempt to get Childress’ job, with Favre’s cooperation.
When he became aware of the situation Wilf ordered Childress to go to Hattiesburg and mend fences, essentially humiliating him before Favre once again. Insiders suspect Wilf is trying to keep a lid on the situation while he secretly shops the team, reportedly to a group in San Antonio. It is believed that Texas, which had had less effect from the recession than California, could support three teams.

I heard that the Viking organization will be handing out vuvuzelas for home games this year. Seems that someone stole the eight track player they used to pipe in crowd noise. This all makes sense as it fits well with Viking fan posts, the monotonous tone never changes and the sound/message is pointless.
Dial a Douche, I know statistical information is beyond your comprehension but I will say this:
According to the Packer Country Visitor and Convention Bureau, more than 100,000 spectators from around the nation and as many as 20 foreign countries (not all Packer fans) watch practice and pump an estimated $60 million into the local economy…..ya means “dick”. If you, Twizzle and Contra would like to leave the computer, get off your big fat turd pinchers, leave the trailer park and see a class organization pay us a visit.
By the way, I learned another definition of ugly, I saw the 4 Viking Fans that went down to see Favre on ESPN2….had to look away….

@ Phlegm-Yah, I said it….Lombardi is as overrated as the crappy steakhouse named after him. He is history,a winner when football was a simple sport with simple players.
The real Super Bowl Trophy should be named after…..Belichick. Hedid the impossible: he created a dynasty in the salary cap era. Greats like Lombardi, Brown, and Noll, among others, were able to keep their teams together because of the lack of a salary cap and more restrictive free agent rules.
Second: Belichick has been able to deal with the bad boy athlete as well as any coach in the modern era. Though there are exceptions, players in the Lombardi and Brown periods, and even into the Noll and Landry dynasties, mostly respected authority. The coach said jump and the player said how high. Today, in the era of Belichick, a coach says jump, and the player says “f— off. I don’t do jumping.”
Third: The Chicago, Cleveland, Green Bay, Dallas, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco dynasties (not to mention the Jimmy Johnson Cowboy dynasty) were not ravaged by free agency the way the Patriots have been. Yet New England continued to win.
So Belichick has mastered playing under a salary cap, won championships despite the ravages of free agency, and got the me-athlete to listen.
Also, no coach with the exception of Brown, Walsh and maybe one other coach in history has been more innovative than Belichick. Some of his defensive schemes in Super Bowls both as a head coach and defensive coordinator are legendary.
And while Tom Brady might some day go down as the greatest pass thrower of all time, Belichick’s rosters while with the Patriots have been more like Paul Brown’s than Noll’s. In other words, the New England roster under Belichick has had very good players but it is not overflowing with Hall of Fame talent, so Belichick has had to roll up his sleeves and coach hard to create that dynasty.

You still haven’t answered my question.
Do the Vikings have a hall of fame? Or is it the hall of shame?
i mean you have so many memories to chose from, from Fran Tarkenton losing big, to Randy Moss quitting on the team, to Brett Favre losing big … to the most accurate kicker of all time missing a chip shot field goal that would have won the NFC championship game ….
I’m surprised Minnesota hasn’t built a monument commemorating 50 years of failure by the Vikings.
In fact, we should just change the word “failure” to the word “viking”
From now on Packer fans, the word viking will be used as the word “failure.”

You treasure those 2 wins against the Pack. I’ll never get sick of hearing the Viking announcers call Favre’s last interception.
Irrelevant is a team that can’t sellout a stadium for a playoff game, plays in a balloon, repairs the roof with inner tube patches, Can’t get a new stadium built, has a transvestite mascot in a dress blowing a vuvuzela, pipes in crowd noise, players take steroids, get drunk and pay for women to go on houseboat rides, carry around artificial bladders with other peoples urine in them so they can pass drug tests, try to run down parking cops or at least use them as hood ornaments, provoke bar fights in Arizona (poor Jared had his feelings hurt when his girlfriend was insulted, next stop Dr Drew’s rehab!), has an owner named Ziggy and a coach named Chilly.
No one get’s excited when the Vikes make the playoffs because they already know how the story ends!

Actually we are not. At least I know I am not. I am still more pissed about giving up 51 points in a playoff game. See that is the difference between Viking and Packer fans. Back in the 80′s when the Packers stunk the majority of the time, Packer fan would take solace in the occasion where the team beat the Vikings or the Bears during the regular season, but that all changed when we actually experienced seeing the team we follow achieve greatness. Now those meaningless regular season wins don’t even resonate for us. Packer fans didn’t pull out the “Well we killed the Vikings twice!!” argument in 2007, because we know that don’t mean shit when your so close to the big game.
So in the end keep trying to throw those two regular season games in the faces of Packer fans. We get it. We truly do. We understand that it is just a defense mechanism to mask the pain of watching your team choke away another opportunity to shed the “Biggest chokers in NFL history” label.

  71. pervy harvin says: Jul 24, 2010 1:28 PM

The real Super Bowl Trophy should be named after…..Belichick. He did the impossible: he created a dynasty in the salary cap era.
Time to scrap the Lombardi and live in 2010. Lombardi was the beginning of football evolution.Lombardi= the ape
    Belichick= modern man

No shit. I don’t even dispute that point. As a Packer fan I am looking forward to the season to see if the team can improve upon that. Now obviously the first step is winning the division and beating the Vikings is imperative to achieve that. Even if the Packers beat the Vikings twice, you won’t see me here using that as a measure to a successful season if the team loses in the playoffs again.

You’ll love these “current” stats – they’re huge!
The Monday Night Football game between the Packers and Vikings, drew a staggering 21.8 million viewers – including viewers from the 20 foreign countries (not all Packer fans) who realized they’d wasted their money traveling to Green Bay to watch the Packers failed practice.
Want more staggering stats? The game produced a 15.3 rating.
Let me put that in plain speak for you. The Minnesota Vikings defeating the Green bay Packers is the most-watched program in cable history.
How about this stat: America, and indeed the entire World were pulling for football legend, Brett Favre, to beat the crap out of the Packers and Ted Thompson became a villain by name, as suddenly he was despised for his treatment of Favre, by everyone in 49 states, 100 countries and American Samoa.
Perhaps an even more mind-blowing stat:
The rating in Green Bay was a 49.7. The rating in Minneapolis was 58.3. Those numbers are Super Bowl-esque.
The Packers will NEVER live down that game!

The girl was a known friend of the family and babysitter to Chmura’s children.

As you have already figured out, I have a special loathing for Mark Chmura. He revealed himself to be a cowardly piece of shit that refused to take responsibility for his actions and hung a young girl out to dry to easily beat a conviction. There will be a special place in Hell for him.
I truthfully had no axe to grind with the Packer Hall Of Fame until July 17th when the bar was lowered for Mark Chmura. When he was enshrined, the Packer HOF and whatever it stood for were diminished and it became fair game.
As much as I detest the Packer organization – I expected a lot more from a franchise that prides itself on integrity. So for you or anybody else to use the Packer Hall Of Fame now (as some benchmark of greatness) is worthless. I have no respect for it. And for you to say Chmura wasn’t convicted is like saying it never happened and is especially disgusting. Do you really believe a 17 year old girl is any match for a seasoned defense attorney. What were your feelings when O.J. was acquitted?
Your motive to defend Chmura, in an effort to protect the Packers HOF legacy, is also sad indeed. If Chmura had been an ordinary citizen of Green Bay I believe a jury would have convicted him. If you had a 17 year old sister you would feel differently about defending him and protecting his Packer HOF legacy. And if Chmura had been an ordinary citizen of Green Bay I believe a jury would have convicted him.
What happens when Lawrence Taylor or O.J. Simpson turn into pieces of shit after they’re inducted into the HOF is another matter. Michael Irvin’s legal problems concerning cocaine probably should have stopped his enshrinement in the HOF. The charges of sexual battery turned out to be an extortion (money for silence) gone too far. The accuser was later proven to have fabricated the entire incident. She recanted her story, pled guilty to perjury and filing a false police report and was sentenced to 90 days in prison and a fine.
This is getting long and involved. I stand by my earlier post. The Green Bay Packer Hall Of Fame means nothing to me or Viking fans or fans of the other 31 teams. If it is a source of pride for you – God Bless.

I have been there probably five or six times (some in the course of my profession and some as a season-ticket holding fan,) and found it to be detailed and very professionally done. And nearly all NFL teams that are considering similar additions to their environments have come to see how it can be done. And each time I have been there (sometimes game day, sometimes not,) there has always been a huge number of sports fans from a lot of different places. On game day it must be 30% or more opposing team fans. Any fan would like it, even jaded ones. You won’t get kicked out if you’re wearing purple.

Is this a Viking fan making fun of Lambeau’s facilities? Really? The Packers HOF is probably worth more than the entire metrodome.

Dude was engaged once. Do your homework. When you are 57 you will still be hammerin’ on yourself into that same tubesock you’ve used since you were 13.

    Douche,
    When did I defend Chmura?
Larence Taylor’s problems started while he was a player as did Irvin’s. Make all the excuses you want but your argument that the NFL HOF is relevant based on your own qualification is pure stuidity.
Brent, the urinal cakes in the bathrooms at the Packer HOF are worth more than the HHH Baloon
Sconnie no matter how many times you change your name the idiocy of your posts remains the same.

“I’m disappointed the Packers chose to allow Chmura into their HOF–never thought it would have happened. The facility itself is 1st class ands worth a visit”.
“By your own logic however, the NFL HOF must have no meaning for you and does not earn your respect”.

The the NFL Hall Of Fame speaks for itself.
It means means more than the bogus (10 Packer NFL legends, 100 above average players and a pedophile rapist) “Packer Hall Of Fame”.
The Packers should kick out Chmura, tear it down and start over with Lambeau, Lombardi, Starr, Hornung, Nitschke, Gregg, Ringo, Taylor, Adderly, Wood and Favre (yes Brett Favre!) and maybe, Reggie White (he played longer and had his most productive years with the Eagles).
Get a lesson on integrity from the lowly Detroit Lions on how high to set the bar.
All 12 members of The Detroit “Pride Of The Lions are in the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.

Seriously. Did your mother ever have any children that lived?
The class of Minnesota fan base! You only help prove my point that you are a no substance trash talking tool with no backbone.
Every other teams fan base in the league has more class than the Vikes. The tone of your posts and those of your buddies Sconnies and Perv(ert) are proof positive that you and your team are the bottom feeders of the league. Ya want some gravy on that?
You and your buddies keep posting your nonsense, it has no value but it’s entertaining.

You have to have intelligence before it can be insulted. Keep working on it.
