That’s EXACTLY what he said. The point is that he could keep them around out of a sense of loyalty or he can move on and he has chosen to move on. Some organizations get old that way and they never recover.

Even though that last idiotic line could be seen coming a mile away, I was still a little surprised by how dumb it made the writer of this post sound. Well done! Brady has one of his top statistical years after coming off major knee surgery and somehow signing him to a new, huge contract would be rewarding him for past performance. Looks like he is still performing plenty well to me. You sir are an idiot!

this made me curious so i went and looked at the numbers.
career completion % leaders:
1. chad pennington 66.1
2. kurt warner 65.5
3. matt shaub 65.3
4. drew brees/peyton manning 64.8
5. steve young 64.3
kinda strange to see pennington up there. he’s a decent if not good qb, but i wouldn’t expect him to top the list. i bet steve young WAS the completion % leader at some point as 1-4 are definitely more recent than him. i expect to see brees continue to climb this list.

Kraft and Belichik have proven their philosophy is accurate and a winning recipe.
Of all the veterans looking for big pay days that they’ve released, none have provided any meals that included ‘Crow’. Most have performed marginally well at best, some down right poorly.
‘Team’ and system wins first in New England. That team will start with Brady at QB.
However, true to their approach, the hunt for the next QB leader should be underway right now, not waiting until it’s ‘time’.

The problem is that all the young players brought in over the last several drafts are now out of the league or on other teams. The Pats if I remember, are at the bottom of the league in that department.
Great…you bring in young guys, but they’re all trash. Way to draft!
The Patriots made their bones with smart, hardworking veterans that knew how to play the game. We caught lightning in a bottle for a few years. These days we have neither the type of players or coaches we used to.

I heard years back….The 49ers wanted to trade Steve Young to the Patriots for their first pick. They wanted Rick Mirer to learn under Montana. Both Notre Dame guys. Patriots said no. they stuck with Poo Beldsoe and turned Steve Young away. That one still hurts. I am a die hard Pats fan..and Drew Bledsoe may be one of the most overated QBs of all time. And Young, if its possible, may be one of the most underated. Young top 5 all time. Best completion % ever I believe.
Patriots will keep Brady. There is no way they let him go. He is still great. The contract he gets will be longer than his greatness will be…but thats the price you must pay. They will lose way too much fanbase, respect, and alot more if they let him go. It is a business..and that would be an awful business move. dont worry fans. He isnt going anywhere

If they think they can replace Brady based on the logic of “that is what we do” that’s awfully stupid. The Patriots are an aging group of players and the have the organization has the attitude of plug them in and the system will work. B.S. Brady won three superbowls with Troy Brown and Deion Branch. It’s not a coincidence that Moss’s career was revitalized and Wes Welker was able to catch over 100 balls. Also Bill Billichick was was a sub 500 coach prior to Brady. Considering how well he did after getting his knee reconstructed…dont be an ass and pay the man

Kraft could be referring to the pre BB days when he was overly sentimental about Bledsoe said he was like a son to him etc and gave him a ginormous & crippling contract, one of several they did pre BB (Law, Milloy, etc).
