Eagles agree to terms with second round pick Nate Allen

The Eagles announced on Tuesday they agreed to terms with second round safety Nate Allen on a four-year contract, ensuring the free safety will only miss one day of rookie training camp.

Eagles coach Andy Reid called Allen the presumptive starter heading into camp, so he faces more pressure than your average No. 37 overall pick. Allen plays with great instincts and should help prevent some of the big plays that plagued Philly’s defense last year.

“He’s a smart kid. He’s got a nice football mind. He’s a fast learner,” Reid said.

Allen only has to beat out Quentin Demps for the starting gig, with Macho Harris likely moving to a nickel cornerback role.
