Charles Grant agrees to deal with Dolphins

A tumultuous offseason for former Saints defensive end Charles Grant will end happily.

Steve Wyche of NFL Network reports that Grant agreed to a two-year deal with the Dolphins.  Grant was cut by the Saints back in March and has been recovering from a torn triceps.  There were whispers about his desire to play again, while an involuntary manslaughter charge was dropped against him Georgia.

(Oh, and the Starcaps case figures to hang over him until he can collect social security.)

In Grant, Miami adds yet another big body and more flexibility for their defensive line.  He doesn’t figure to play every down and may not be a lock for the team, but he’s an intriguing option to help stuff the run if healthy.

  1. another muderer gets a second chance….well at least brandon marshall will have someone to talk to now…

  2. Charles “Cant” has become a waste of space since he signed that big contract. He’s doing what lots of washed up people do; go to South Florida to retire.

  3. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When Charles Grant Got Released By The Saints I Wanted The Dolphins To Sign Him!
I Hope Happy We Signed This Guy!

  5. He got stabbed in the neck at a fight where someone else was shot and killed. He didnt murder or even attack anyone. Get your facts straight.

  6. This signing doesn’t make any sense to me at all? Why would they bring someone in with some much baggage and an injury? Im hoping they know something we dont

Facts??? Jets fans don’t need no steeeeenking facts gringo!

  8. Grant was drafted with one of the draft picks the Saints got from the Ricky Williams trade.

It’s a long hot summer down there. Need all the bodies they can get. Hardly a lock to make the team, but it’s always good to have extra camp fodder. If he did make the team (he was a first round draft pick) it’s only a plus.

  12. @ jestsrule?
Even your user name is an oxy moron, moron. jets haven’t “ruled” anything in their history- other than the cellar of the AFC East. Smell the fear and prepare for another sweep.

  13. Seems like the Dolphins are desperate to replace Philip Merling. They brought in 3 veteran Defensive Linemen this week. Hopefully at least one of them can contribute…

  14. ROTFL… REALLY?????????
MURDER, DRUGS, LACK OF DESIRE TO PLAY….
OTOH, why didn’t I predict this… Get me a list of all th eother players with a murder rap who took drugs and doesn’t want to play anymore yet is desperate for cash. PRONTO.

  15. And those murderers could chase after rex ryan. he could a good work out. im sure hed run even faster if you hang a hotdog over his face

    You are an idiot.

  17. Charles Grant never was charged in a murder case so drop that nonsense. If you can’t get your facts straight then don’t bother accusing him. Plus, Brandon Marshall never murdered anyone either.

  18. His legal issues seem to be behind him. When your stabbed in a fight where someone else was killed and he was not the instigator; how will the league deal with that? Most likely not with a suspension. So far being in a strip club although hazzardous to NFL players is still allowed. This guy is a good player when out there performing and not in a strip club. There are many strip clubs in south Florida. They are just not as violent as the ones in Georgia.

You should have asked this same question
when the Dolphins signed Brandon Marshall
Domestic violence and a hip injury…Deja Vu

  20. Didn’t Marshall have a hip injury last offseason also? How did that affect his play? Oh yeah, another 100 reception 1,000 yd + season. Now I’m really worried. Jests fans are funny.

  21. Any Saints fans know if this guy has anything left?
Naw seemed after he got his big payday from the Saints he got fat. He once said something about needing to feed his kids, but clearly looked to be he was eating for him and his kids. I was glad to see him go.

  22. Maybe Parcells said “Mo Thugs & Hoodlums”?
    :awesome:
But seriously, I’m laughing at how far from the truth that statement was now.

  23. Have fun with Grant Miami. He always talked more than he performed. He’s a good run stopper but he can’t rush the passer.

  24. Hey, JESTS fans… is Santonio Holmes all suited up and ready for the season opener? Oh….. that’s right……
