Eagles give up on piece of Sheldon Brown trade

The Eagles cut linebacker Alex Hall on Wednesday morning, a surprising move this early in training camp considering he was part of the Sheldon Brown trade to Cleveland.

The Eagles gave up Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong for Hall plus picks in the fourth and fifth round.  Hall got folks excited in Cleveland with his pass rushing ability as a rookie, but quickly fell out of favor with Eric Mangini.

It took even less time for the Eagles to decide they had no use for him.

The remaining pieces of the trade are 4th round draft pick Trevard Lindely and Ernie Sims (they traded the 5th to get Sims)

I feel this trade was JUST to get rid of Sheldon Brown. The Eagles may have liked Hall but probably favored the picks more. If he hadn’t been traded with Brown, this might have been Chris Gocong getting the boot (i forgot for a second that Gocong had been traded, heh).

Just a really dumb move to trade Sheldon. He isn’t the corner he once was but he is better than Macho Harris and Ellis Hobbs. He is also the only guy in the secondary that will actually tackle somebody.
