Broncos sign Tim Tebow

The highest-profile college football player in recent history can now begin his professional career.

Denver Broncos first-round draft pick Tim Tebow has signed with the team.

Tebow, the Heisman Trophy-winning Florida quarterback, will now head to training camp in a competition with incumbent starter Kyle Orton and backup Brady Quinn.

Tebow is unlikely to win that competition in camp, but he’ll almost certainly get on the field in certain offensive packages, and the Broncos see him eventually becoming their franchise quarterback.

“Tebow delays not his promise, as some imagine, but deals patiently for your sake, not willing to hold out, but that all should see him on the practice field some morning hence. And the light will shine down from the heavens, and the children shall laugh and the cheerleaders shall dance, and only the sinners in Oakland shall weep at the coming of Tim.”
Book of Tebow, Chapter 4, verses 8-9

the anti-JaMarcus – for every sluggardly trait JR had, Tebow is pure effort and attention. And, for every mechanically superior trait JR possessed, Tim Tebow is woefully unendowed. It will be interesting to see if his heart and will can overcome his other deficiencies.

Cool, now we need to our focus to Thomas and get him signed so all of our rookies are there. I’m also glad to see our OL is starting to gel.. I’m a bit curious on how Clady is doing, last I heard is he will be ready for the start of the season..

The Raiders also saw Jamarcus Russell (i dont know if i am spelling that right.. but frankly the guy doesn’t deserve to have his name spelled right) as their franchise quarterback. Good luck with that Donkeys.

I’ve been backing Tebow 100%, but to stay out of camp is career suicide for a quarterback.

Everybody in the NFL works hard, a lot of them work very hard. Some even work incredibly, obsessively hard. And some work like the devil.
You can’t get but a mere mention in the league by working hard. The 11.7 mil is for celebrity.

Let us not forget that Tebow spelled backwards is Wobet as mispronounced by Elmer Fudd in “I hate that Wobet!” And while we’re on the subject, God spelled backwards is … oh forget it.

  40. numberfour says: Jul 29, 2010 8:39 PM

all the usual cries of “haters”! haters!” seem to forget their anti-hate admonition… when tebow’s name comes up. true racists in action.
maybe he doesnt end up playing all qb or mostly qb. i think he will play hard and do his damnedest to win, whatever position he plays. and that is why he has a lot of fans.
i am not against running QBs but lets face it… there are other guys who have been mostly runners etc… who really arent good QBs.
vick, for instance. and he sure didnt work hard and it looks to me like he throws games. and his arm is still not any better than what tebow’s is now. he also cant read defenses, and tends to run into legal problems.
another is jarcarcass. with that body he should have been an OG, DE or TE. with that mind, or lack thereof, he should under observation in the mentally deficient ward of a childrens’ hospital. he clearly was never QB material and like vick cannot read defenses or hit what he “throws at”.

Tebow will be the NFL equivalent of Rudy. All the hard work in the world can’t make up for a lack of physical ability.
Side note: I wonder how many times the word “blessed” was used in his contract.

Superb! I don’t really have much of a feeling on Tebow one way or the other — and I’m not really sure how you feel about him either, Occam, but this is just brilliant! Well done.

Thankfully the Donks have signed Tebow to a $33M contract, which should help cap strap them boys for a few years. Meanwhile, the Donks still need to find themselves a QB; not just a white-version of Michael Vick running around the football field.
Good move Donks! It almost will assuredly lock your team into the 3rd place spot in the AFCW, slightly about the Chiefs!

  46. Icon says: Jul 30, 2010 10:47 AM

Great signing Denver – you are moving in the right direction while my chiefs are descending. Wish we had Tebow (or had a GM who didn’t play favorites – Croyle is better than mutt ca$$el – by far – but our pretend gm egoli can’t spell quarterback any better than he can pick Coaches (he hired a golfer named hailme, KC’s 16 losses in 20 games 2009 affirming.)
1 SD – best team in the West, hands down
2 OAK – will surprise the ‘experts’ in 2010
3 DEN – could rank even higher, but…
4 KC – at least DEN will finish higher than my chiefs
