Further proof of Favre's return, from an unlikely source

At this point, pretty much everyone with a pulse and a non-lobotomized brain believes that quarterback Brett Favre will return for a 20th NFL season.

But as Yogi Berra once said, it’s not over ’til it’s deja vu all over again.  (Or something like that.)

Here’s another piece of evidence pointing to Favre’s eventual announcement that he’s playing again.  Patrick Reusse of 1500espn.com reports that “inside sources” at Lifetime Fitness in Minnesota have indicated that Favre’s wife, Deanna, has renewed her membership.

So why doesn’t Brett Favre simply disclose what everyone else knows?  For reasons likely known only to him, he feels compelled to have a reason for not attending training camp, and he’s relying on his indecision and/or the status of his surgically-repaired ankle to buy time.

That said, he doesn’t need a reason not to go to camp.  All he needs to say is, “I don’t need to go to training camp.  And the Vikings have no problem with that.”

We also think that he likes the cloud of uncertainty, as thin and wispy as it may be, since it could prompt any of the locals with lobotomized brains to abandon their cars at the side of the road and run to the team’s facility after it’s revealed that Lord Favre is arriving on a white steed (or in an SUV driven by Chilly) to save the franchise once again.

Ummm I thought you’ve been paying attention the last few years. Lord Farve loves his drama queen mode and all the attention it gets him. That’s the only reason he needs.

Let’s see, Middle of August he’ll show up, lead the Vike’s to the play-offs, making up for AP’s fumbling, then in the NFC championship game he’ll heavy an unnecessary deep ball, have it picked off and cost the Vikes the game. Hmm, haven’t we seen this script like for the last 12 years? Good luck Vike fans, I’ve felt your pain.

The proof is in the Pudding’ as a former Head Coach of the MN Vikings once said.
The closest Lifetime fitness to Brett’s current location is over 5 hours away.
The only way this conclusion won’t be true is if Deanna decided to get a job this holiday season at Von Maur. (Upscale shopping store located in the same city as Vikings HQ. For you Packers fans out there imagine Wal-Mart clothes and a Blain’s Farm and Fleet clothes all in one, but you couldnt afford anything in the store.)

  24. murray22 says: Jul 29, 2010 11:56 AM

I agree that Favre is a diva, but there is more to this story than Favre being a diva. He can’t admit that he doesn’t need or want to go to training camp and the Vikings can’t admit Favre doesn’t need training camp. Otherwise there might be a lot of players on the Vikings and throughout the league that decide that they don’t need training camp either. It’s better for the Vikings and the League for Favre to appear indecisive, instead of it appearing that players don’t need training camp. Having said that, I hope he comes back and the Packer’s get revenge.
    Go Pack.

The question has NEVER been will he or won’t he return. The question is WHEN will this PLAYER UNDER CONTRACT return.
On a side note: Does anybody remember a few years back when said named player publicly blasted a fellow teammate (Javon Walker) for not honoring his contract?
I’m just saying, pick a position and stay with it people.
(and for those nitpickers, yes I know J Walk wanted more money and that’s not what Favre is doing, but at the end of the day, they are two guys who failed to honor their contracts). One is openly selfish the other is selfish and a hypocrite.

  29. ohgoodie says: Jul 29, 2010 11:58 AM

The face of the Packers publicly owned company is coming back for another year. Think about it, how much money did the packers “shareholders” lose when they decided to let him go. I wouldn’t be thrilled that my prized asset, top revenue garnering employee was tossed out. Revenues flat, expenses up, someone’s skull needs to be cracked.

    “torturing the packer fans”?
Packer fans are laughing their arse’s off. favre has pulled this crap the last 8 years. We are glad that we don’t have to deal with it anymore. Rodgers is 13 years younger and had better stats last year and when compared to favre’s first 2 years. If anyone thinks favre is going to have numbers comparable to last year, you are hitting that chronic way too hard. Rodgers is just getting started and will be to camp. favre? not so much.

  31. Ralph says: Jul 29, 2010 12:02 PM

Close CaptainMarvel, but she’ll have to pony up $480, it’s a one year contract renewal. Not sure if they can afford it.
So if Butt Farte decides it’s time to hang it up they lose $13,000,480 and they’ll have to find someone to buy that condo in Eden Prairie that they bought last year.

Seriously, Favre doesn’t ask the media to write stories about him. Faver doesn’t tell espn to speculate what each and every thing he says means. Favre doesn’t tell Mike Florio to write stories about his wife’s membership at a fitness club.
Has Favre ever done anything even remotely as self serving as what Lebron James did? Be thankful he isn’t like Lebron cuz he’d be in the media twice as much.

Florio cares, he keeps putting up this garbage when we all (meaning every team in the nfl and their fans) know what will happen, yet someone needs to create the drama. If the Vikings players don’t care when he shows up why would anyone else? And before someone starts spouting off about the players, coaches and ownership not liking it, tell me who reading this so called article has talked to anyone playing or working for the Vikings.
