Haynesworth failed conditioning test after bathroom break

You just can’t make this stuff up.

The Washington Post confirmed that the Redskins failed Albert Haynesworth during his two-part conditioning test on Thursday after he needed a “lavatory break” during part two, probably so he could go number one.  Jay Glazer of FOX first reported Haynesworth failed the test.

When Haynesworth returned to the field, he was unable to complete the entire test from start to beginning.

Florio wrote earlier today there was a sense from Haynesworth’s camp that the Redskins would find a way to fail the defensive tackle.  Mission accomplished.

“Several players” say Haynesworth is in better shape than a year ago, but he can’t practice fully until he passes the test.

What remains to be seen is whether this proves to be a temporary way to single out Haynesworth or a sign of more drama to come over the upcoming weeks.

Albert would have been O.K. but someone filched his rig from behind the toilet, before he got there on his bathroom break.

can we get a little more analysis on this?
why would they want to fail him? it isnt like that will get them the monies back, will it?
if he is around, isnt it to play? if they want to start up some drama with him, i dont see how it could in anyway help the team.
    single him out……to do what?

  4. grant44 says: Jul 29, 2010 2:46 PM

Perhaps genius Haynesworth was going to look for test pointers on the bathroom walls!!!
Or perhaps rather than stopping in Part 2 to go #1, he should’ve stopped in Part 1 to go #2!!!

Sounds more like Haynesworth failed himself.
He took a potty break and wanted to resume the second set in progress?
Um, does that make any sense?

  15. PackFanNChiTown says: Jul 29, 2010 2:54 PM

The Favre is just LOVING Haynesworth right now as it diverts some of the attention from his delicate mental condition as he ponders whether he’s good enough, smart enough and if people like him enough to play another year.

Wont the players association argue all players need to be held to the same standard if they go this route?

Reports from Redskin camp are that during the 2nd test Haynesworth called for the cart to drive him through the rest of the drill. He’s preparing for the regular season. 100 Million. Karma.

Give me a break, two 300 yard shuttle runs for a DE and they fail him because he took a bathroom break. This is pay back for what he did during the off season. If I was him I would get the hell out of town ASAP.
It is his life and he has a right to play a position he wants to play if he is good at it. How many NT have you ever seen put in the Hall of Fame?, none. And all this team talk is nothing but bull. The coaches and owners always talk team when they need you or want something out of you. Once they do not need you or they want to make a change team is replaced with garbage as that is how the player is treated.
In this punk society we live in today if more people kept their nose in their own business and worried less about others business it would be a whole lot better.

Am I the only one who views this as Shanahan reminding AH who exactly is in charge?
I don’t think they are looking to put him back on the street, but rather to beat him down a little and bring him back to earth with the rest of the team.
So what? A fat man fails to run 300 yards in shuttle style. Find me one who can! They are going to work in 4 minicamps worth of conditioning for Albert and its in his best interest to take it like a man and line up when his number is called.

No, they can’t get the money back this way. They can, however, make a point and make him pay for the problems he’s caused this offseason. With the way everyone else on the team bought into the new coaching staff and attitude in D.C. it’s vitally important for the rest of the team to see that Haynesworth (regardless of his huge contract) can’t act like this and not pay a price for it. Moral of the story: Don’t screw with a big name head coach in such a public manner. They will find a way to make you pay for it, and the have the clout to get the owner to go along with it.
As for the union, there’s absolutely nothing that guarantees that all players are treated in exactly the same manner. Besides, if you paid attention during the worst of this whole business, pretty much every player in the league was taking the opportunity to take shots at Hayesworth as opposed to backing him. Haynesworth has become a poster boy for why you shouldn’t spend big money on Free Agents, which weakens the position of many future free agents. So, no, don’t expect the union to make a stink about this. If anything, there will be a whole lot of players joking around about this.

  41. VoxVagina says: Jul 29, 2010 3:34 PM

This doesn’t make any sense. No, not “from start to beginning,” that’s a whole new argument. I’m talking about the theory that the Skins intentionally failed Haynesworth. Think about it… why would they intentionally fail him? If they plan to trade him at some point before or during the season, what better way than to fail him out of spite and further diminish his trade value? I assume they will trade him during the season, because nobody wants him now for more than a 3rd round pick

I love this story and the posts. Haynesworth fails the conditioning test, Rosenthal fails the copy-editing test, and headrush4you just fails.

  44. Simon12345 says: Jul 29, 2010 3:40 PM

So is Florio saying that they were looking for a way to fail him, with the implication being it wasn’t a “fair” test. If so, then you need to report what the test was, how Haynesworth did, and why the test was unfair.
Otherwise, maybe he just failed. The reporting is really shoddy.

  45. rooster75 says: Jul 29, 2010 3:54 PM

When Fat Albert felt himself slowing down, he rushed to the bathroom to do Number Two. He thought that would recharge his system and he could come back ready to go strong again.
But when he came back out he realized he wasn’t at the all-you-can-eat buffet; therefore, the ol’ Bathroom Number Two trick wouldn’t work.

  46. numberfour says: Jul 29, 2010 3:59 PM

Conflicting reports emerge on whether Haynesworth passed a loo loogie between conditioning tests.
Rosenthal is conducting deep dives of the Redskins facility to determine the composition and genesis of the nautical deposits.

    @Skins1970
I think its all about what some of us have posted–that Shanny is making Big Al pay for showing him up during the minis. Hell yes he failed the test. But that does not mean that he is going anywhere. Sometimes you do this sort of thing to humble a guy and get him plugged back into the idea that no one is bigger than the team.

I have no dog in this fight, but why would Redskins hold Haynesworth to a different status than the others? Yes, Haynesworth didn’t have a great offseason and the only running he did was his mouth. However, the player’s union might have a case against the Skins and Shanahan.
