Report: Lewis not “entirely on board” with Owens addition

We know Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco wanted to bring Terrell Owens to Cincinnati. Bengals owner Mike Brown has his fingerprints all over the move.

But was Marvin Lewis in favor of adding the Siskel to Ochocinco’s Ebert?

Bob Glauber of Newsday reports that Lewis privately “had more reservations” than he’s let on. He wasn’t entirely in favor of the move. (The link is subscribers only. We’re one of the 35 lucky ones.)

“He’s got big concerns,” a source with “direct knowledge” of Lewis’ mindset told Glauber. “T.O. is more than just a receiver, and Marvin is aware of the potential for problems.”

Lewis’ ability to handle players is probably one reason why Brown was confident in adding Owens. Carson Palmer has also displayed a deft touch at dealing with divas.

Still, with Lewis’ contract situation up in the air, we wonder if this will serve as another grating reminder of his limited personnel power.
