Another top-five pick signs

The first-round picks are falling quickly now.

A league source has confirmed to us that safety Eric Berry has agreed to terms with the Chiefs.

Three of the top ten picks are now under contract, and two of the top five.

Berry was the fifth overall selection in the 2010 draft.  Also under contract in the top ten are Redskins tackle Trent Williams (No. 4) and Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain (No. 8).

Berry’s deal establishes a ceiling for the Seahawks and tackle Russell Okung at No. 6.  The floor for Browns cornerback Joe Haden has been set by McClain’s deal.

That said, Haden’s deal still could be problematic since he’s working off the above-slot deal given last year by the Raiders to receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Good signing, but giving the Chiefs draft history and decisions I’m not overexcited..
Haley needs to lose his ego. Hopefully the two fat men the Chiefs brought in get something going..

Berry’s not just “another top-five pick”, Florio. You can have his name in the headline and it should be for years to come. This kid is a stud.

The Cheifs brought in 3 fat men that built a dynasty in New England… so yes, Cheifs2010, you should be excited.

Why do people act like the Chiefs have been historically bad? They’ve had 3 bad seasons. The season before they were in the playoffs. People act as if bad teams can never become good.

I think it’s silly to continue saying Haden’s deal will be complicated by last year’s #7 contract. Everyone knows, Haden and his agent included, that the Raiders were stupid to give DHB that much money and it doesn’t fit in the unofficial “slotting system”.

Lifelong Chiefs fan here – Berry will be a BUST. I look for several td passes to be thrown over him in 2010 – he is a rookie and like each & every same it will show.
Totally over-hyped & sure to be schooled. The Chiefs should have drafted an OT.
Another 16 losses appends in 2010… FIRE egoli & hailme – STAT!

Really? Granted we’ve been bad for a few years now but you act like we’re Detroit or something. Chiefs offseason this year has been phenomenal, and I have high expectations for the season as well. We’ll win at least twice as many games as we did last year, you can quote me on that.
Oh and seriously Icon should be banned
