Brad Childress wants Toby Gerhart to "get his tail signed"

Just hours before the start of the Vikings’ first training camp practice, coach Brad Childress is unhappy about one of the players who hasn’t yet reported to the team facility.

And we’re not talking about Brett Favre.

In an interview with Sirius NFL Radio, Childress expressed frustration that rookie running back Toby Gerhart, a second-round pick, is the only one of the team’s draft picks who hasn’t signed yet.

He needs to get his tail signed,” Childress said. “He needs to get down here and not miss a snap.”

It’s particularly important for Gerhart to get to camp on time because he missed most of the team’s offseason workouts thanks to his class schedule at Stanford. But it appears that Gerhart will miss some time, and it appears that Childress is getting frustrated.

Childress has no control over his team. It’s going to be fun watching the Vikings fail again.

  2. robert ethen says: Jul 30, 2010 12:41 PM

Gerhardt showed up later in the day and took off his pants to show Childress his ass. On it was written, “Go get ‘em, kid!_________#4″.

  3. GBfanForever says: Jul 30, 2010 12:43 PM

I’m sure that cross dresser Childo would just love to more to his behind than just signing it.

  4. packrulzm says: Jul 30, 2010 12:44 PM

Childress trying to bully a draft pick into signing……..What a joke! This guy has NO credibility with his signed players. I’m sure Toby is quaking in his boots from Chillys hard nose approach. Hell, the guy does not even expect players who are already under contract to attend camp. How the hell does he expect a rookie to respect him as a coach?

  5. shadowman1433 says: Jul 30, 2010 12:44 PM

He’s just following the example set by the teams leader, what’s his name, favra.

  6. Canned Heat says: Jul 30, 2010 12:47 PM

Yeah, Toby….hurry up and get down there so you can take handoffs and screen passes from the 2 chumps until the “blessed one” presents himself.
Then, when they aren’t on the same page the first couple of weeks of the season and there’s muffed hand-offs, pass route, and blocking miscommunication, Old man 4 can complain about how these “kids and I” aren’t on the same page….Can’t imagine why.
Just like his last few years in Green Bay. Keep your fingers crossed Vike fans.

Fail. Kind of like your posting abilities?
31 teams failed last year moron.
Why do you even ponder posting?
This isn’t the Milwaukee Sentinel Journal website, this is PFT!!

In other news. Ted Thompson had to have his tail “realigned”. He also had to have some plastic surgery.
It seems he met a new man with big hands and big feet….you know what they say……
He had to have the plastic surgery, it was the only way they could wipe the goofy smile off of his face.

Everyone always bangs on Chilly, but what has he done beside win more games every year, back to back division champs, and drafted great..Sure he has bonehead moves here or there, but it’s hard to justify all the criticism..

  11. LordFavre says: Jul 30, 2010 1:16 PM

    GBfantard…
I think you’re confusing…Ted “Alternative Lifestyle” Thompson with Childress, and Aaron Rodgers’ ass, which he already plundered….
as well as all of Green Bay Nation, who bows down and says, “thank you Sir Ted, may I have another”, as he continually f*cks over your team!

  12. bigrig says: Jul 30, 2010 1:21 PM

Chilly’s got no credibility with telling players to come to camp. We all know why.
You see, Viking fan, this is where you miss the boat with Favre. Instead of drafting and developing a young, talented team player to be your QB, you made a deal with the devil.
Now you have a castrated coach with no authority and still no trophy.

Vikings did not bring #4 to simply win one more playoff game than they did with #7.
#4 was brought in and catered to for the purpose of bringing back a trophy. Agreed? I’m pretty sure you know by now the Vikings did not meet their objective. That’s called failing.
And yes, several other teams with a SB goal failed. Just not 30 of them though.
And the Vikings are setting a great example of how NOT to get your team a trophy.

This is so awesome watching this team fall apart early for the 3rd season in a row. I don’t even follow the Packers anymore because it is so much rewarding cheering for the Vikings to lose. Have fun dominating the division again you chumplords because we all know the odds are still against you winning it all.
In the last 40 seasons the Packers have only won one superbowl. That is 39 failed seasons. But in those same 40 seasons the Vikes have failed 40 years. That is 40 successful seasons if you only cheer for them to fail.
So I call out to my Packer brethren. Abandon our team and just dedicate ourselves to hating on the Vikings. Then “we” have 31 teams to cheer for! Way funner! Then if our team ever does go deep, we can hop back on the bandwagon and cheer for them to win.
God this is so awesome hating on teams.

You know, I like what Shanahan is doing with Fat Albert, rookies or old vets should get there asses to training camp. And if they don’t, work them like dogs when they do get there. Favre needs to rally the troops and the fan base by getting to camp and let them know he means business. Suck it up man. Skol Vikes.

  18. NoGravyForSconnies says: Jul 30, 2010 1:40 PM

“it’s hard to justify all the criticism”
it’s just bitterness from packer fans who are tired of losing games to the vikes and losing the division to the vikes.

  19. Chiefs2010 says: Jul 30, 2010 1:46 PM

Gerhart’s a heady player.. he’s one of the hardest workers you’ll find and is a great short yardage back..
He reminds me a lot of Craig James, Merrill Hoge and Peyton Hillis

  20. jusford says: Jul 30, 2010 1:52 PM

Isn’t Gerhart just waiting for Childress to pick him up? I bet it’s all a miscommunication.

lol. yeah, only intelligent, insightful, fact based, non-homophobic, vikings praising remarks are allowed here. DUH!
the fact that chilly is dumb enough to make that comment is hillarious to me. sure, the two guys who were responsible for keeping the team from the superbowl last year can skip whatever whenever, but noodle will be damned if he is going to let a rookie skip his wig wearing parade.

  22. Ilovefoolsball says: Jul 30, 2010 1:57 PM

if I was Gerhart I’d laugh in “Brad’s” face and say who are you? The coach? Wait, I’m not gonna come till probably the 3rd week of training camp.

  23. Hauschild says: Jul 30, 2010 2:12 PM

Heir Gerhart does need to get signed and his ass into camp.
The kid has a golden opportunity to play with the best QB ever and could place serious competition pressure on Fumble Boy.
Forget the extra year or 2 million – get into camp, Bubba!

However, dumbest post definitely goes to the idiot Sando who said:
“This is so awesome watching this team fall apart early for the 3rd season in a row”
LOL. They won the division the last 2 years and were a field goal away from the SB. Plus they beat the pack twice. How exactly is that falling apart moron?
I might have to change my handle after all these dumb packer posts.

Yeah, and every Packer thread has a fairy tale princess from Fargo east replying on those as well.
I at least put valid points in my posts about what may or probably will happen without resorting to name calling like a bunch of 6 year olds….except for the dark pink and ponytails stuff. That you’ve all got coming.
God willing, #4 will put you guys thru 3 or so more years of this crap and when it wears thin…and it is already with alot of people…you’ll see what we meant. You’re all looking through rose colored glasses for a trophy that #4 will piss away for your team at one point or another this season. Why do you think he’s going to get any better….? Reality people. Try it once.

    What?!
You might just possibly to stupid to retort to, but I’ll give it a shot.
Vikes played WC weekend with #7
Vikes had bye that weekend with #4, played a divisional round game and went to NFCCG.
    Pretty much 2 spots ahead.
Yep it’s a fail. along with every other team that didn’t win the SB.
What are you trying to justify?
That its somehow worse for Minnesota than the others? Plain idiotic on your part.
Most people felt it worked out pretty good for the Vikes, just came up a bit short.
Losing in the NFCCG is a great example of how not to get a trophy? Jesus. Pure stupidity.
What is giving up 51 points in a WC called then?
Ypu turds never cease to amze me with your faulty logic.
Put down the Pabst and go get some help, or an education.

I feel bad for real packer fans because 90% of the posters who back the pack are troll idiots like these. Honestly there isn’t much worthwhile to say Sando once again just embarrassed himself. It will be a good year in the NFCN Vikes and Pack will battle for top spot, Bears will improve although I feel they will miss out again on playoffs ending Lovie’s tenure with them. Detroit will improve but sadly they are still a couple drafts away from pushing any other team in the NFCN. Can’t wait to see the Vikes defend the division and have good spares will the non-troll packers fans.
    Skol Vikes!

  29. Calir says: Jul 30, 2010 3:47 PM

  30. bigrig says: Jul 30, 2010 3:51 PM

Just because I rightfully pointed out that the Vikings did not meet their objective [does that sound better to you than the word fail?] doesn’t mean I’m a Packer fan.
Since you seem to be satisfied with “just getting close” why don’t you try horseshoes or hand grenades? Close might get you something in those activities.
And the Viking trophy case remains as pure and empty as a virgin’s you know what.

  31. DirtDawg55 says: Jul 30, 2010 4:08 PM

Gerhart will be confused as to why Favre’s biatch, limo driver and manservant is calling him out.
Yes, I know there is a difference between a veteran reporting late and a rookie reporting late, but here is the thing. Favre can show and not practice. Happens to lots of veterans. But at least they show up and demonstrate support for your ram. What Favre is demonstrating is he doesn’t give a rat’s arse about the team and so the team starts to not care about itself. Childress has no credibility. Zero. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

  32. DirtDawg55 says: Jul 30, 2010 4:12 PM

Ah , “support for his ram”? What the …? Meant “support for his team”, although when the subject is how Gerhart should get his “tail signed” maybe the word “ram” isn’t so far out of place.

31 other teams didn’t meet thier objective either, why just point out 1 team?
I’m not satisfied with getting close turd. I “rightfully pointed out they went 2 spots further with Favre”. Still not acceptable they didn’t win, turnovers killed them.
Another turd that wants to talk about yesteryear with the trophies, or, let me guess you are a sints “fan”. They seemed to come out of the woodwork last year….

I sure hope your post was supposed to be sarcastic. I can’t imagine a fan of ANY team simply abandoning their team to root against another. You sir, are no fan of football. While I truly enjoy reading the banter between Viking and Packer fans on these posts, your comment is simply stupid. I’m not a fan of the Vikings, but guess what? They do actually have fans. At last count, quite a lot of them that are currently laughing their collective asses off at your expense.

  36. Bob Nelson says: Jul 30, 2010 6:31 PM

Brad Childress is pointing the finger in the wrong direction.
It was the vikings that waited until the the final week just to get a 7th round pick signed.
Besides if Greenway, Peterson, and Favre can skip mandatory practices with no consequences, surely a rookie who the front office failed to sign to a contract will not be missed.
I am so glad the vikings gave Brad Childress a multi-year contract extension.

Chilly, who wears dresses, should avoid talking about his player’s behind, it sends the wrong message to the player even though all the predominately gay Viking fan base just loves that sort of talk. The BiQueen fans love a tight end that shows his junk on national TV and pride themselves on not choking on their boyfriends, which is ironic, because that’s all the Vikings ever do.
