The new era Eagles start now

The Eagles convened for the first full practice of training camp during the Kevin Kolb era on Friday, and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer has a very unofficial depth chart from the proceedings.

There were no major surprises on the first team, but this offseason has included many eye-opening moments for the Eagles.

Donovan McNabb was only one of many veterans to be jettisoned.  For a look back, we kick it over to the fine video editors at NBCSports.com.

  1. Florio, I love how you hate on the birds…im really banking on this season, considering you predicted the skins to be NFC East champs last year. Keep hating.

  2. I don’t care how it starts, but I know how it will end…without a Super Bowl Championship. The eagles are a slightly better version of the Lions. They are an embarrassment to the NFC East…Redskins 3 Super Bowl Championships, Giants 3 Super Bowl Championships, Cowboys 5 Super Bowl Championships, Eagles 1960 NFL Champions…Yippie!!!!

  3. You go into the NFC East with a “green” QB and you are going to get your ass rag dolled.
    Good luck Eagles.
Your fans are going to be a drinkin’ and a fightin’ when your getting your asses kicked and D-Nabb’s lighting up D.C.

  4. Nice call on McNabb, but I don’t think that the Jackson will become like Owens call will end up being a good one.

  5. Now that the Eagles have a QB that looks WR first you’ll all see how good Andy Reid and his O are. DeSean better get on board or Maclin, Avant, Celek and the draft pick next year will be the new pass catchers.

    …………Rodgers anyone?
And considering he has 4 years under his belt and an upbringing in the WC offense…AND his two real starts with no hard practice with the first team….back to back 300+ yard games (NFL record)….and against last years Superbowl champions.
    your an idiot.

  7. Sports Illustrated in their Fantasy Football Preview has Kolb ranked as the 8th best QB in the league.
I found that strange since several experts on this site have previously assured me that he would be benched no later than week four in favor of that resurgent superstar and future of the QB position in the NFL Michael Vick.

  8. I have a feeling Kolb will be accurate but will throw a ton of picks. Based off of his Ravens game of a couple of years ago (slightly unfair, he was thrown into the fire) and the Saints game last season he will make some dumb throws. He threw 3 to the Saints and had 2 TDs. In his career as a starter and in garbage time he has 4 TDs and 7 INTs. Makes me a little nervous

  9. Ravens game? The one where McNabb couldn’t move the ball at all….then Kolb comes in and goes 5-5 driving them towards the endzone….yeah he threw the pick but he sure moved the ball better than McNabb. I’m sure he learned from that one.

No need to be nervous. Kolb had one bad INT in the Saints game. Two were made with a minute or two left in the game with the Eagles very far behind. If the Eagles are in that position this year, Vick will finish the game and get the INTs. And as you say it is unfair to use the Ravens game. So you really can say he will throw a ton of picks based on his numbers.

  11. Kolb, McNabb and Romo will be seeing alot of Jason Pierre Paul this season!!!!! This kid is gonna light up the Giants defense.. Shhhhhhhhhh theres really nothing that can stop it.

  12. If the Birds make the playoffs again, the decision to go with KK will be vindicated. Hell if they go 8-8 with a rook that’s positive. People need to be realistic please!
He may throw something like 22/17 this year and that’s fine. But let’s be honest, much of his success will depend on how quickly the young D can gel.
I’m personally praying Nate Allen is at least a solid player, hopefully much more…

  13. Amazing how much this young team gets so much attention but the young Tampa Bay Bucs get so little.
If Kolb had Brandon Marshall and the shifty, run-after-the-catch Davone Bess, his numbers would pop off like Chad Henne’s will.

  14. Ill give you everything else in this video is pretty accurate but the Desean Jackson comment was un called for. The guy gets along great with his front office, coaches, team mates, and quarterbacks which was T.O.s problem.
So where does Desean compare to T.O.? In confidence ? Ill give you that. All pro talent? No doubt. Having the same agent? ok fine. TD celebrations? No Not really Desean does a little dance T.O. makes it a big show. Almost every player does some kind of celebration any.
I just dont see how Desean is compared to T.O. its not even in the same realm. Desean acts no different then every other high profile wr or rb. Yea he has said a couple of goofy things. But never anything malicious. But you can say that about 90% of the league. If you wanna compare him to anyone it would be Steve Smith without the fighting and even then its not close.

  15. Good video but you missed the most important event of the past several years! Why no T.O. doing sit-ups in his driveway? Doesn’t that mark the start on McNabb’s exit?

  16. i love being a eagles fan. ppl love to hate us i predict another top 10 post. pft us using you dumb ass haters! lol

    That’s a fantasy, all right.

  18. “TD celebrations? No Not really Desean does a little dance T.O. makes it a big show. Almost every player does some kind of celebration”
And some players celebrate before they even score!
