Eagles sign Kelley Washington

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Saturday that they have signed veteran wide receiver Kelley Washington to a one-year contract.

Undrafted rookie Jared Perry, who played with Eagles starting receiver Jeremy Maclin at Missouri, was waived to create roster space.
Washington, a special teams maven and serviceable substitute wideout, will compete for a roster spot with Hank Baskett, Jordan Norwood, and rookie Chad Hall, among others.  Baskett also excels on special teams and Hall was impressive during spring practices, so Washington won’t be assured of making the team.

Eagles look to be creating a lot of competition even on special teams.

Every offseason I read where Kelley Washington has signed with some team, then I never hear of him again until the next offseason.
Good work if you can get it.

I know. Jason Avant catches everything thrown his way.

I think he’s just a camp body. There’s no way he makes the final cut unless Baskett is even crappier than he used to be. DJax, Maclin, Avant, Riley Cooper, Baskett, the little guy Chad Hall… there’s a lot of competition at WR. Washington has a slim chance.
