Haynesworth sidelined with knee swelling

Albert Haynesworth didn’t pass on his conditioning test to “rest up.”  He’s already injured.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said on Saturday that a swollen knee prevented Haynesworth from taking the test on Saturday after doctors recommended he rest the knee

There is no timetable for Haynesworth to take the test now, but he’s involved in team meetings and watching the defense practice on the field.

The relationship between Haynesworth and his employers appears to be slowly thawing, which is a positive for Washington.  Who knows: maybe Haynesworth will even practice football again soon.

    wait for a hammie or groin injury; can’t really tell if those are real or not

  3. edgy says: Jul 31, 2010 1:12 PM

    Now, he just needs to go under the knife and Shanahan will have some splaining to do to Snyder.

    Running 6 Shuttle drills at 100 yards a pop when your weight exceeds 300lbs will damage those knees

  5. AbeFreshly says: Jul 31, 2010 1:15 PM

    Way to go, Shanahan. You idiot. What did you THINK would happen if you make a 340 lbs DL run 300 yds…twice? As soon as I read on PFT about the conditioning test, I KNEW AH’s knees would disagree with running it.

    Man, this guy is the biggest weasel in football right now. He’s a liar, lazy, and he doesn’t care. I can’t wait until he’s out of the league.
    Haynesworth=Giant P-word

  7. AlphaQ2 says: Jul 31, 2010 1:17 PM

    Wow! I thought he would at least make it onto the practice field before he faked an injury. What a joke…

  8. PriorKnowledge says: Jul 31, 2010 1:17 PM

    bad news for washington… this pissing contest between shanahan’s testosterone and haynesworth’s petulance can only hurt both parties until things return to normal.

    Collect the Snyder cash, Go on IR. Smile a lot as Shanny wonders what went wrong

  12. Martin31 says: Jul 31, 2010 1:21 PM

    A 35 year old reporter in D.C. completed the test in 64 and 67 seconds. Granted he’s not 300 lbs. but it also isn’t his job to be in shape. Jeff Fisher said this test is extremely common and shouldn’t be difficult, but you dont report that. You just keep making excuses for a 300 lbs. millionaire baby.

    “Shanahan’s handling of Haynesworth isn’t out of character”
    That should read “Shanahan’s hazing of Haynesworth isn’t out of character”

    I wonder how much Haynesworth paid the doctor to make his knee swell up???

  16. LTC Pain says: Jul 31, 2010 1:34 PM

    Haynesworth epitomizes everything in a professional athlete that fans despise. The Redskins defense is better of without him on the field or in the locker room.

    Haynesworth hurt, there’s a real shocker….

  22. Skins1970 says: Jul 31, 2010 2:07 PM

    It’s best to rest the knee because we need him to be ready for September 12th. The good news is that the relationship between Albert and the Skins is improved. So hopefully the media will stop saying that MS and AH aren’t getting along.

  23. SpartaChris says: Jul 31, 2010 2:11 PM

    So maybe if he would have gone through the off-season conditioning program, he’d be healthy enough to practice…

  24. snccoach says: Jul 31, 2010 2:15 PM

    Jeez, who would of thought if you asked a 300+ pound man to run excessive yardage not corresponding to his position demands, that he may come up with knee swelling? Again, shame on Haynesworth for not practicing for this test, but strength coaches and football coaches who still live in the stone age in regard to performance enhancement irritate me.

  25. seanx says: Jul 31, 2010 2:30 PM

    Maybe if he hadn’t had to run all those 300 yrd sprints…
    While I agree Haynesworth is an a#@hole, I think his treatment isn’t going to go well with the players union

    Great tenure in D.C. white shirt Vinny Cerrato.
    Guy was a complete tool with no concept on how to BUILD a team….just how to collect overpriced talent with selfish ego’s.
    Cronyism at its best with Daniel Snyder. Redskins fans were ROBBED of 10 years and I actually felt bad for you all.

    ~~~~~
    No, they Player’s Union will not pursue any action on this topic. They will not go after the numerous teams that use this drill for conditioning. Some run it every day!
    The Ravens had a rookie DL who was overweight in college, but showed up to camp weighing less, fail the test on the first day of camp. He passed the drill the next day and is in pads. Search the Baltimore Sun this week or the Washington Post today.
    Other teams using the drill include the Steelers, Titans, Giants, Jets, Cowboys, etc, etc, etc.
    Florio and Gregg have spinned this into a lover’s quarrel but its about a profession athlete who came to camp unprepared.
    Shanahan knows nothing of the position of D Tackle anyone ever seen a tackle sprint 300 yds, and yes I understand that they are shuttle runs of a 100 yds but has anyone ever seen a DT run 100 yd sprint?!?!? nope didnt think so. DT = run stop and move the pocket not a kick returner
    Why don’t you geniuses strap the difference in weight on your back and try this. Hell, a 21-year 175-lb WR can run a 4.22 40 but I guarantee you that NO 340-lb person could. Is it because they’re lazier or that it’s harder to haul around 340 lbs? Can a 35-year old reporter in DC bench press as much or do as many reps as a 340-lb NFL player? You guys just kill me.
    Skip on over to Out of Bounds and watch the video of the WOMAN television reporter running the test.
    Hillarious that MR. Professional Athelete could not pass the test when this LADY almost did with no preparation, agent, trainer, crew, etc.
    The issue with Haynesworth is gnawing at Mike Shanahan, so much so it sometimes wakes his wife up at night when she hears it under the porch. Creeps her out.
    I never want to hear you ladies at pft bitch about another player being in trouble or causing trouble again.you have a perfect example of a player putting himself above the team and being a complete jackass and yet you blame the coach for standing up to him and trying to set an example as being overbearing and a bad guy in this case.I am pretty sure welcoming a guy who blew off the coaches and his teammates would have been the much better thing to do.yea forget all the work the rest of the guys put in and teamwork it’s all about albert.that’s the message you ladies want to send?
