Leon Washington makes it back for start of training camp

When the Jets gave away Leon Washington to Seattle, they essentially bet that Washington wouldn’t be the same guy for a long time, if ever.

The multi-talented back has a long way to go to prove them wrong, but he’s returned to the field sooner than most people anticipated.  Washington participated in training camp on Saturday, avoiding the active/PUP list.

Mike Sando of ESPN notes that Washington didn’t participate in team drills, but it’s significant Washington can already pass a physical.

Here’s a video of Washington talking about his impressive return from a compound leg fracture, courtesy of Danny O’Neil at the Seattle Times.

“I’m not satisfied.  I gotta get back to the old Leon,” Washington said.  “My ultimate goal is to become a Pro Bowl player again. . . . It’s all going the right way.”

    Great trade !
    The Newark Jets have Joe Puke McKnight and Lady T who looks great behind his shield on the bench.
    1500 yards + this season Leon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    By Mid-Season this man will be running fast and strong for the Hawks.

    Joe McKnight would start on the patriots. LMFAO.
    Maroney = Bust
    Morris and Taylor are old and decrepid.

    Ironic that Leon passes his physical while his replacement Joe McKnight flunks his physical. It is looking a very bad trade for the Jets.

    Best wishes Leon. After being unceremoniously disposed of by the Jets, I wish you all the best in the NFC West.

    As much as we loved Leon and hated to see him go, it is a little early to crow about his return. Let’s see if Leon can do all the things he could before the break. Mcknight needs to work on his conditioning but at least he has two good legs and is young. Good luck Leon.

    Leon is no flash pimp. He keeps his bling inside his body.

    I don’t understand that last comment. Either way you look at it, you can’t draft Mcknight or Washington so who cares. I just wasted five minutes of life to see if Forsett had a threat. I have learned nothing by coming here. Goodbye.
