Jerry Jones says he didn’t throw his coaching staff under the bus when he suggested Dez Bryant was overworked when the rookie receiver suffered a high ankle sprain.
“I’m not being critical,” Jones said. “What I’m being is analytical, or trying to be analytical.”
Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips handled the situation calmly, as we’d expect. He says it’s Jones’ right to question things. Phillips joked it only bothers him when the media questions the coach.
criticism analysis was easy for Phillips to defend because few coaches are more mindful of not overworking players. If anything, Phillips has been chastised for making camp too easy. He noted that he makes extra sure not to work players too hard.
