Dolphins rookie linebacker fears he has torn ACL

Miami’s youth movement at linebacker may have taken an early body blow.

Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald writes that rookie fourth-round pick A.J. Edds fears he suffered a torn ACL at practice

While he wasn’t a high draft pick, Edds was a key part to the Miami formula at linebacker this year.  The team said he was going to play on passing downs immediatley at inside linebacker where he could use his coverage skills and speed.

We are waiting to hear confirmation from the team.

UPDATE: And the team has confirmed it.  Edds will miss the season with a torn ACL.

  1. Who cares, they’re going nowheres fast again this year just like every year. It’s commical to think that they have a shot of winning with a quarterback like Chad Henne. I’ll be routing against them in every game but two this year and that will be when they’re playing the Jets.
Give it up Pops, can’t wait to see the Lions rip your team to shreads this year in Miami!

  2. Hope he recovers by next season. Not a Dolphin fan but wouldn’t wish or celebrate an injury. (Unlike inbred Steeler fans with the Bernard Pollard fanclub.)

Your fixation with the Steelers amazes me.

LMAO, smoke a lot of crack in Detroit?

  5. Somefans calling another commenter a troll…hahaha funny how you don’t like it when the shoe is on the other foot..stay off the jets boards then … i hope this kid gets better and that all Fin players stay healthy…i don’t want any excuses when the Jets shut down Miami this year

  6. @megatron81
Why would you be routing them? Do you have a special router that carves lettering on people?

Take shots at someone who points out a fact about your classless fanbase. Thanks for proving my point.

The best part is you don’t see the irony of what you just typed.

Only the cheap jets don’t pay their players troll… now go play in traffic.
Dish it out but cant take it eh?? You now offically get the PFt d-bag award. Anyway, shouldn’t you be on a Jets story repeating the same old annoying crap. yes your Fins beat us twice last year…and you went 7-9. Which means you won 5 games against the rest of the NFL…you must be proud.

  11. Not a Dolphins fan, but that’s just a bummer. I always feel for teams who catch the “injury bug”–especially to their rookies that they’ve leaned on to contribute. I can relate being a Bengals fan–injuries have killed them in various playoff runs the last few seasons. I hope that it won’t happen to the Bengals and I hope Edds recovers quickly and is back on the field ASAP.

  12. Like Miami’s going to do anything this year anyway. They could suit up Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Shiva and Buddha as LB’s and they would still only win 7 games.

  13. Too bad for Edds. He’s a good kid and with some of the injuries the Dolphins already have in their lb corp he was going to get to see a lot of snaps this year. Hopefully he heals up and comes back at 100% next spring.

  14. You never want to see a player sustain a season ending injury at any point and time, but when it happens to rookies, it’s all the more cruel. These guys work for their dream to play in the pro’s and then when it finally happens, injury knocks them back. I imagine they would at least like to be able to say “I tried and wasn’t good enough” rather than have a freak injury make the decision for them.

Thre lions are jokes! It’s Henne that will eat your little pathetic franchise alive. Try to sign your players while you’re at it

  16. All WE hear from the wets ARE excuses- what happened the last 3 tries then? Losses… make that another sweep of the hapless jets this year troll. Same old jets, ALL talk, little to back it up.

  17. Why do Jets fans always come on Dolphins stories to talk smack? Are Jets fans that bored? I know one thing thats for sure the Dolphins WILL have a better record them the Paper Airplanes will.

  18. not even close to someone who would root for dolphins but hate to see when a rookie gets hurt before even playing a game.

This news sucks but he is a rookie.
And QUENTIN MOSES isn’t a LB you moron!!!

Yes he is Miami runs a 3-4 in case you didn’t notice

  20. Oh no! Miami has the injury bug. Now they’ll never make it to the Super Bowl!
    1-15.
Woody to Revis, I will pay you anything, you are the messiah.
Revis to Woody, ok how about 15 mil
    Woody, don’t get crazy now!

  21. Here we go again…Dolphins have a knack for getting key players injured. Edds was supposed to be the cover LB for guys like welker in passing situations. I would have liked to see the kid play.

  22. This comment section gets worse by the day… 90% of you write/ talk/ act like scorned little school girls… it’s pathetic.
Get a life people… most of you clearly know nothing about football.

  23. Hey, there’s a big surprise, Rosenthal can’t spell “IMMEDIATELY”…
Seriously Rosenthal, your writing is worse than most 7th graders.

Sad thing is, with the jests going 0-16, that wouldn’t even be the worst record in the league.

  25. @ Justicemaster.
In case you haven’t noticed… it goes both ways.
Funny thing is, neither the Jets or Dolphins have done anything of relevance for years? So i’m not sure what the big pissing match is?

  26. @KoaMisi
You’re always good for a laugh! You should rename yourself “Dolphins Defense,” you’re just as laughable.

  27. thats a damn shame now the poor kid has to start off his career “injury prone”. i hope MIA keeps hes their only good coverage LB

  28. @NYJALLFINGDAY
I wouldn’t be talking about Miami’s D if I was a jets fan considering recent events and historical accomplishments defensively.
