Favre heads back to the high school practice field

Amid a storm of rumors, reports, and speculations that emerged on Tuesday regarding the Third Annual Retirement of Brett Lorenzo Favre, the quarterback has returned to the high school practice field in Mississippi, presumably to get ready for the coming football season.

The report comes from Scott Hanson of NFL Network, who has arrived in Hattiesburg for Favre Watch 2010.

The development reinforces our belief that the text messages sent to teammates regarding a looming retirement were part of an effort to get more money and/or a relaxed deadline for showing up.  And it now appears that his teammates were pawns in a purple power play.

Of course, Favre’s teammates won’t complain.  With Favre, they could win a Super Bowl ring.  Without him, they possibly win the right to lose in the first round of the playoffs.

  27. murray22 says: Aug 4, 2010 10:41 AM

I am loving this. Favre is causing the Vikings more grief now than when he played for the Packers. He’s showing his teammates that he is better than them. He doesn’t need training camp, unlike them. Favre also seems willing to use his teammates to spread rumors of his retirement, so that Favre can extort more money from the Vikings. If the Viking’s front office had any balls they would tell Favre to come to camp or they will put him on the reserve/retired list. Even if his ankle is sore, he should still be in camp with the other players. Is Pick-6 Favre really that much better than T-Jack? I don’t think so. Are 31 other teams lining up to get Favre if the Vikings release him? I don’t think so. The Vikings are probably the only team willing to give Favre $16 million. Be careful Vikings fans. Last year was as good as it can get. Favre is getting older, not better. Go Pack!

Rage and depression? Please pay attention….we want him to come back. We want him humbled. Or best case scenario, the decision to retire is made for him. Unfortunately for you the only reason he is coming back is for the streak record. He is just buying time to take the pressure off (which he could be doing in camp as well, but camp isn’t important.)

the best thing for packer fans to do in my opinion, since they can’t stop favre from coming back, is to pretend they’re happy he’s coming back like they did last year when all you heard from packer fans was “i’m GLAD he’s playing for the vikings! this will mean we’ll get tons of picks off him, beat the vikes twice, win the division and make a super bowl run!”
so once again, since all the dancing in the streets about his retirement has proved premature once again, i would advise all packer fans to pretend they’re glad he’ll be qb for the vikes again. since there’s nothing they can do about it anyway.
i would also advise them to say they’re glad that thompson is so thrify and doesn’t sign free agents. because they would hate to have a g.m. who signed players like hutchinson, allen, williams, winfield, favre, etc.
in addition, i would advises them to say they’re glad their lotto tickets never win.

As for the Packers, I think last year they looked at him across the line of scrimmage with too much respect. Not to say he didn’t expose their defensive weaknesses, but I think some of them like him too much. They need to get a hate on for him, at least during the game. The Packers need to hate the Vikings as much as the Vikings hate the Packers.

Dude, you seriously over-exxagerate how much Packer fans care about Favre or the Vikings….
The only reason we care is that its fun to watch Favre destroy the Vikings and make them the laughing stock of the league. Its fun to watch some other team suffer the same way he used to make us suffer… First there was the season ending boneheaded pick in the playoffs, then the “will he or wont” he B.S. in the offseason.
I think even Raiders fans can laugh at the Vikings for this one – I mean, even Al Davis has some standards and sense of self respect not to get trampled on by a player in this manner.

After all, nobody loves the game and wants to win as much as he does; and he will tell you this. All the sports world will call him the ultimate football warrior while he is making well over a million $ per game. If players are sore or hurt, they still show to training camp, but Favre. If his damn ankle is so sore, why is he working out with his HS buddies? Training camp drama 2010 must be a real confidence boost Vikes’ backups.

Hahaha I highly doubt that. You guys probably masturbated over the fact Favre was retiring, thinking that Wow we might actually have a chance to win the division. Now your hopes are shattered now that Favre is going to come back. Also you must be miserable knowing that Favre will knock 2 more wins out your asses this season and basically winning the division AGAIN for the 3rd straight year. Don’t talk to me about that 3 SB wins, because that all you Puker fans seem to do. LIVE IN THE PAST. Only Puker fans think Favre blew that game against the Saints, when really it was Peterson’s fault, Childress’s fault, basically a TEAM loss. Not just Favre. Get over yourself and stop making a fool out of yourself.

Oh stop wetting your purple panties Queenies…
    Baby Brett’s gonna play…
This is technically Brett’s 5th retirement (try to keep up all you 1st year BF front-runner fans).
    He’ll probably play well
    He’ll probably beat thePackers again
He’ll have some ‘injury’ to milk for 6 months
…but when he throws that soul-crushing stupid INT to ruin another season for you Queenies – it will (again) give me that pleasant little tingle down my leg that makes it all worth while.
Don’t try to wash it it off Queenies – we can ALL smell it. The unmistakable smell of pathetic desperation.
    Enjoy

well he’ll retire a superbowl winning, multiple MVP winning, alltime nfl record holding, a 1st ballot hall of fame inductee, and one of the most popular athletes of any sport of all time.
    **************************************
… all of that he accomplished thanks to, for, and with the PACKERS.
Cant wait till you clowns realize that for all of your sudden hero worship, all the Vikings accomplished last year was helping a talented but incredibly petty and bitter old man get “revenge” oh his old team for calling his idiotic bluff.
Yaaaaaaay for you guys. Still no SB rings, no stadium, no championship. But, you poured out millions and dumped your dignity to help Favre “stick it” to Ted Thompson.
Oh, and touch Jared Allen’s butt a lot- you got to watch Favre do that too. :-/

On Tuesday, Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe said Favre texted his teammates and told them he plans to retire. Now Ed Werder said Favre has not made any decision and will play if healthy. Make up your mind already Fart. Geezzzz ….. Don’t leave the Queens fan on their knee for any longer. Pathetic Franchise of all Time.

Dudes a LOSER, he should be with his team….if he can rehab better at the local HS facility and practice throwing to 16yr olds…he’s probably going to get killed Sept. 9th!!!!!!!!
He’s teamates should be outraged about his attitude and disrespect for the work these guys put in during training camp…..People def hate Favre more than Lebron….it’s not even close!!
    FAVRE SUCKS!!

I dont get the “slams” at Packer fans. Or at Thompson. Especially at Thompson. This BS is exactly why the Packers divorced him and moved on with that QB that is doing quite well.
    ———————————————–
Very simple…..”doing quite well” gets you second place in the division, a wild card game trouncing whereas a SB-MVP QB gets you to the NFC championship game and possibly a SB. As an aside, I find it interesting that now “the packers divorced BF” but last year’s arguement was that BF the traitor, the Judas left the pack just to be on the vikings…….guess the story changes depending on what side of the bed a packer fan gets out of. If the “packers divorced BF” then there shouldn’t be any anger towards BF from any packer fan……LMAO, typical packer trash talk, say it this year and change it next, kind of like when BF signed with the vikes, it was “can’t wait to play the over-the-hill has benn and bury his ass” ..and then after BF spanked the pack quite significantly it became, “just wait until he comes to LAMBEAU”…..another one-sided game with BF never being touched but that “pretty good qb” was sacked a total of 14 times!!!!!!!! then it was “they won’t win the division, they won’t make the playoffs, they won’t win a playoff game, they won’t they won’t they won’t…….” sooner or later packer fans would have to be right becuz no matter how many times BF proves them wrong it is always something different, the story changes.

    Flo-hole,
Do us all a favor and take the purple horn out of your slurp-hole, wipe up the pool of sycophantic slobber, and snap out of your delusional presumptuous BiQueenophilia mode.
With or without Failvre, the Queens won’t even make the playoffs this year.
Get off the love boat bandwagon and try coming up with some original, reality-based analysis on what might happen in the NFL this year, instead of being a typical mediot sheep that regurgitates the same ol lamestream media predictable predictions.
Remember last year, when you said the REDSKINS would win the Super Bowl?
THAT’s what we want–more of that profound guesswork.
