Favre speaks about his future

Once upon a time, a Cowboys fans famously yelled at one of ESPN’s top football reporters, “I’m in your head, Werder!”

Well, now Werder is on our site.  And he’s asking Brett Favre questions about reports that he’ll retire.

And here’s the video, compiled by NBCSports.com and courtesy of ESPN.

“shank, that’s why i love him”, nice. plus it’s got a totally different meaning than ted’s “jorge my filipino houseboy, oh how i love him.”

He was probably wearing a skirt.

Wow. If that video doesn’t scream liar I don’t know what does. He couldn’t even answer the questions without looking like he’s lying through his teeth.
Final questions should have been: “Brett, why did the Vikings offer you more money and you accepted if it wasn’t about the money?”

Brett says its not about the money? Of course its about the money. He wants to be paid the same as Manning and Brady. Now the Viking fans get too put up with the Drama Queen.

  6. Blackn'Gold says: Aug 4, 2010 8:05 PM

I could hardly hear the conversation with Brett’s diesel running. It was the usual annoying interview between someone of note and the press. It was about two minutes too long. Brett wasn’t going to tell them anything.
    GO STEELERS!

You have to wonder about the qualifications of sports reporters. What are the requirements to ask dumb questions , or write rumors because no verifiable facts are available. The bureau chief in a news dept requires its reporters to have two independent, identified sources. Sporting media couldn’t hold a job in a news department.

Childress “pretty good” if Favre has same timeline as last year
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 26, 2010 11:36 AM ET
Brett Favre can take all the time he wants this offseason.
Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine, Vikings coach Brad Childress said that he won’t put Brett Favre “in any box” when asked if he wanted a decision from Favre before the draft.
Childress spoke with Favre twice this week, but the conversations were short. And they primarily concerned landscaping.
Asked by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen if Favre could join his teammates on a similar timeline to last year, Childress said, “I’m pretty good with that. . . . It would it be nice to know sooner than later. But you have to be able to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity in this business.”
With the statements like that, it’s hard to imagine there’s even much ambiguity left regarding Favre’s 2010 future.
With the secure knowledge that he can return whenever he wants, it would be a big surprise at this point if Favre didn’t return.

    1. How can there be no comments on a Favre article almost 3 hours later?
    2. Where is exactly does he have to go?

  13. bruce campbells chainsaw hand says: Aug 4, 2010 10:15 PM

    LordFavre –
It’s August 4th. Anything said in February doesn’t matter. Do you know why? I’m pretty sure Favre retired February 2009. Do you still believe him?
You can keep with Childress’ comments, but they’re meaningless at this point, just like last years wins over the Packers.

  14. SpartaChris says: Aug 4, 2010 10:45 PM

    I question Favre’s leadership.
If he’s playing this season, why isn’t he in camp? What logical explanation is there for him to be throwing and working out with the local high school team rather than throwing and working out with his teammates?
If he’s worried about his arm, he can be on a snap count.
If he’s worried about his ankle, he can get treatment. He won’t have to jog or run or really much of anything.
So really, what logical reason is there for Fraud not to be in camp?

everybody says that people from wisconsin are inbred, obese, necrophiliac, spouse beating, devil worshipping, grave robbing, illiterate, impoverished, cave dwelling, mouth breathing, explosively flatulent, 7-eleven nourished, hygiencally deprived, sexually confused deviants, but i think this is a generalization.
i forgot the rest of my comment.

There once was an old man named Favre,
For attention from us he did starve.
    Retired, but then
    His mind changed again,
And now the defenses he’ll carve.

Skank Ho was popping off without even having spoken directly to Favre. Eye Glazer took it for gospel and scurried with it. Enough wrong turns and it ended up here. Embellished, revised, and personalized beyond any semblence of recognition. Which is pretty much standard fare for the coverage of Brett Favre.

It’s so funny how on the very first thread that said Favre was apparently retiring, Packer fans were giddy and joyful. I love that we were able to see how you guys really feel. You were soooo happy there for a couple hours and then the happiness got yanked away when the truth came out that he’s more than likely going to play. You’re afraid, admit it. We were 1 play away from the Super Bowl last year and you know there’s a huge chance we’ll finish the job if 4 is back, and now it looks like he is. Don’t worry Packer fans, you still have the Milwaukee Bre, you still have the Milwaukee Bu, you still have cheese and fat women.

Favre doesn’t say anything- he’s a prima donna, attention whore etc.
Favre does say something- oh, he’s lying.
How exactly does he win with you Packer fan turds?
Oh, that’s right. He was supposed to retire when you wanted him to and not play cause he wanted to, right?
Get over it. You act like spoiled children.
I’m so sick of you jagoffs saying you are over him leaving, when it’s obvious you are not.
These message boards would not be flooded with comments if you were.
For all the angst it’s causing you, I hope he does play til he’s 50.

i think favre should go on that tv show “Lie to Me.” he’d be a pretty easy read. Without even seeing his eye, just based on his body language alone, I think it’s pretty clear that he’s NOT lying when he says it’s not about the money, and he is OBVIOUSLY lying when he denies the text messages. His entire delivery, composure, everything, changes like someone flipped a switch. pretty silly, brett, just man up.

gravy sconnie guy — listen, dude, here’s the deal. i lived about 18 years in wisco, and about 10 in minnesota. with the exception of a few places – Milwaukee and Madison in sconnie, the twin cities and maybe Duluth, Rochester in MN, these two states are essentially identical in every possible way. the people are the same. the land is the same. the food is similar. and the way the 3 interract w/ each other? yes, almost identical.
stop wasting your time, both states are about 90% hick.

minnesconsin i see your point but the biggest difference is that everybody in wisconsin is inbred, obese, necrophiliac, spouse beating, devil worshipping, grave robbing, illiterate, impoverished, cave dwelling, mouth breathing, explosively flatulent, 7-eleven nourished, hygiencally deprived, sexually confused deviants, alcoholic, 3rd generation tweaker, farm animal mating with, disease ridden, ted thompson adoring, gerbil abusing lepers, whereas none of those things are true about minnesotans.
they have a few nice places though, everything i just said about them is true though. however i’m not trying to criticize them or be judgemental.

  28. Gravy Makes Sconnies Fat says: Aug 5, 2010 10:09 AM

i just think that if we can all accept that people from wisconsin have these character flaws then we can all get along better. i’m not trying to say that everybody in wisconsin needs to be kept in a cage or used for medical experiments or anything like that.

Nice try, but Schiancoe made his comments long after all those reports came out. No one has said they used him as their initial source. But nice how you’ll throw one teammate under the bus for Favre. You guys believing every word out of his mouth is hilarious.
Gosh darn it, I said I wouldn’t comment on any more of these threads and I have. It’s just so entertaining.

Given the large percentage of Viking fans that are gay, I get a sense that they feel deprived that Favre sent pictures of himself cuffing his carrot to a female employee of the Jets instead of the Viking faithful. The fan base is growing weary of waxing their own carrot to the images of Shinacoe and want fresh material.
Take heart Viking fans, this season will play out like all the others ending up short of the goal of winning the Superbowl but this time you will have fresh material to indulge your perverted desires. No longer will you be relegated to gerbils and leather chaps, you will have your favorite QB in crocks and his wristwatch making this a special season before it even starts.

  35. Gravy Makes Sconnies Fat says: Aug 5, 2010 12:16 PM

jimmy what you just did is called “projecting”. you’re very sensitive about aaron rodgers who is openly gay with his male roommate and ted thompson who everybody knows about and whose alternative lifestyle you identify with, which let’s face it must be the reason you and bobbo are thompson fans since it can’t be for his record since he only has 2 winning seasons and 1 playoff win in his 5 years as g.m. and of course the packers haven’t won the division or a playoff game since favre left.
i personally do not condone all the little kids that flip ted off and all the people who constantly leave for sale signs in his yard if they’re doing it because of his gay lifestyle but how do you know they’re not doing it because of the packers abysmal slide into mediocrity since he became g.m.?

I bet you do because that depth chart at QB may be the leagues worst without Favre on it. Considering they could have went for McNabb, Campbell, Roethlisberger. if he does hang it up he would really be sticking it to the Vikings. With Favre Minnesota has a very good chance of reaching the title game, hell maybe even the Super Bowl before another crushing pick ends the season. Without him they’re screwed from the start.

  37. cusoman says: Aug 5, 2010 7:21 PM

@JimmySmith, I’ve often found that people who have an unhealthy obsession with calling people gay and describing lewd homosexual acts as a form of insulting are usually gay themselves, so why don’t you just do us all a favor and get the coming out party started.

Yet another of my posts not posted.
You have zero room to talk. If rodgers goes down( no silly on the field, we all know he does off the field) the pack has Flynn( heres where you crow about hes a fine young QB and how great heis, which is bs, you don’t know).
Sage and Tjack have at least taken meaningful snaps in an NFL game. Rodgers gone? Pack has no chance. No Favre, the vikes at least have guys who have proven they can function in this leauge.
Why do you ponder carrying 2 Qb’s, this isn’t Onalaska high school football, man! This is the NFL!!
