NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will visit the Steelers’ training camp on Thursday, where he’ll come face to face with Ben Roethlisberger, the quarterback Goodell has suspended for the first six games of the season.
And in a sign that Goodell may eventually reduce the length of that suspension from six games to four, Goodell says he’s been impressed with Roethlisberger’s off-field conduct.
“He is doing what he’s been asked to do -- and frankly more,” Goodell said.
Roethilsberger says he hasn’t specifically scheduled a time to talk to Goodell on Thursday, but he expects to see the commissioner. And Roethlisberger says Goodell already knows that he’s making a conscious effort to rebuild the reputation that was severely damaged by sexual assault allegations this offseason.
“I think he does know some of the things I want him to know,” Roethlisberger said. “I have done everything he has asked, and I’ve tried to go above and beyond.”
