Lions dump Marquand Manuel

The Lions have parted ways with veteran safety Marquand Manuel, per a league source.

Manuel, 31, will be cleared out presumably to make way for C.C. Brown at strong safety.

The move comes as a mild surprise, given that Manuel re-signed with the Lions in the offseason, getting a $50,000 signing bonus on a one-year deal for the veteran minimum.

Manuel previously has played for the Bengals, Seahawks, Panthers, Packers, and Broncos.
