True. But Manuel was bloody horrible in GB. A wooden mannequin is just as good in coverage as that lazy excuse for a safety. He was completely effortless and gave up on plays far too quickly. I am surprised the Lions took this long to dump him.

Detroit has added 13 new starters since the 0-16 season. Some reporters have picked them ahead of the Bears in their division, and with Favre gone, the Vikings suddenly look shaky in the NFC North, too.
You can make jokes about past Lions teams (and especially Matt Millen) but the current roster is both professional and well coached. They may not make the playoffs this year, but they are no longer a laughingstock. They added 5 quality rookie starters last year in the draft, signed some needed veteran leadership, and appear to have added more good draft choices so far this year, in camp.
Look for the Lions to win as many as 7 games this season, including a few upsets.

I’m surprised at this move. I really thought Marvin White would be gone before Manuel.

This move doesn’t pave the way for CC Brown at SS. The staff just decided that Manuel was a worse option than all the other bad options (of which Brown is certainly one). That position is still very open, and the eventual starter may not even be on the team yet.
What a weird thing to presume, where did it even come from? Oh wait, nevermind.

Leigh Bodden has worked out well for the Patriots (and he started on the 0-16 team) idiots, they aren’t completely without talent. In fact they might just have a competitive future (unlike the Vikings without The Douche).
And yeah, I’m not a Lions fan but I hope they do well.

Absolutely blows my mind that any coach can watch film of CC Brown from last year and want him on their team. Absolutely useless in coverage. Wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if some of the leagues quicker WIL LBers could play SS better than Brown.
