Actually it is Einstein, if you did any research its a felony in NY to have a loaded gun on you without a permit. PLax let his expire, and it was from FL. So apparantly it was too much work to get a permit in NY. I think the time is 3-6 yrs for this one

he didnt really do anything that serious he just shot himself in a public place with a gun licensed in another state……why would anyone ever get 2 years in federal prison for that

I think the guy learned his lesson, let him out so he can get on with his life with or without the NFL. I assume he will either land in the NFL as soon as he is released or he will go unsigned, spend a year in UFL and return to the NFL the following year.
The guy still had good skills up until his self violence so he will be back… If he is out until next year that puts him at 34 years old with 2 years off from football, I think he has a few decent years left.
All of this coming from a Steeler fan that can’t STAND PlexiGlass AKA Alligator arms Burress.

Not really. He easily could have shot someone else. He was careless with a firearm and was holding an unregistered concealed weapon in a club. He should be punished. I just think it is not unreasonable to CONSIDER releasing him.

I think the guy should do day for day just like any of us “normal” people would have to do if we were convicted oir plead guily to a charge,let alone a gun charge and not get any special treatment but again another “unnamed” source released by the NY Crybabies.

Actually, that’s not true… most people Do serve the mandatory minimum. Regardless, the point(s) I was trying to make were that 1) he is not serving the full mandatory sentence of 3 years… AND 2) he could do some good once released to use his experience to try and change the non-violent mandatory minumums for weapons violations.

Except that there is more than doubt, because most people who get charged with the same offense in NYC don’t serve anywhere near that “minimum” sentence. If you had bothered to make yourself even modestly aware of the facts before spouting off nonsense, you’d have realized that.

Whether the Giants bring him back this year or not, it won’t matter.
By the first week in December, the NFC East will be decided. And it will be between the Cowboys and Giants.
I hope Dez brings enough to offset the Giants D. The cowboys couldn’t beat the GMeN once last year, and NY’s defense was piss poor (at best).
Now they’re stacked.
Is this the year that Tony fails for the last time, and Jerry’s heart hemerages right on the field?

I don’t necessarily agree with the law, or the (supposed) mandatory ‘time’ that comes with it (at least for average joes; not sports stars as we’ve seen)… but the law is the law… and he broke it; plus, he’s already getting off somewhat easily by not having to serve the full 3 year minimum… right?
If Plax wants to do some good, then he should, upon his release, use his experience as an platform to lobby NY State to consider changing the non-violent mandatory minumums for weapons violations.
