When will you guys realize that a good deal of us have already accepted Favre for what he is? Yeah, so he waffles on his retirement... so what? When he hits the field, he's still a tremendous player.
Majik Butt--
Huh? As noted earlier, they finished the year 7-1. Their O-Line, last year's big weakness, is now intact. And AZ was not an average offense.
The reason there is so much focus on Favre is he went from a beloved figure, to a bitter, dishonest, petty man. Look at the immature, despicable way he is now handling his "contract negotiations". You may not get it, but most sports fans don't care for a$$holes.

Shitterson says:
And it was pretty fun to watch his play deteriorate at the end of the season, right on schedule.
_____________
You must mean how he fell apart, like throwing for 320 and 4 TD's in Week 16, or 316 and 4 TD's in Week 17, or 230 and 4 TD's in the Divisional Playoffs?
Please think before posting garbage next time. Yes, Favre threw an ill advised pick, but like I've said, it's not like that play cost them the game like a certain othe NFC North QB who I've said time and again is a choker. I guess I was right, then, too. Right?

No doubt he's been one of the GREATEST QB's EVER....and he's the type of guy who will always have a few bullets left in His Gun, but..
'There's Life After Football', and He needs to get on with it and 'Live It'. I celebrate your career.
'Brett, come back if you will', but mark my words, it will 'come at a price', (maybe) much more than what they're willing to pay you, and you will probably take a physical beating. After all you have given, I'd hate to see you go out that way.
Anything less than a Super Bowl win, and you'll probably regret putting another year in.

This is just unreal. Favre hasn't been a Packer in over 2 years, yet angry, bitter, jealous Packer fans just can't seem to move on from Favre. I mean, the Top 5 most commented, and 7 of the top 10.
-----------------------
We're not whining or complaining. We're not bitter, either. We're laughing our asses off. We said he was a flip-flopping retirement monkey. We were right. We said he'd toss a costly interception at a critical moment. We were right. We said the Vikings were chokers. We were right.
We're rubbing your noses in it. Whether Favre plays in 2010 or not doesn't matter. We were proven right on all those things.
Sure, it sucks that the Vikings swept the Packers. But it was hilarious to see him get beaten up and then throw that ill-advised pass at the end of the game. And it was pretty fun to watch his play deteriorate at the end of the season, right on schedule.

Great numbers? I would think the stats and having the second highest QB rating last year would qualify as.......great numbers!
---------------------
So, QB rating is good enough for evaluating QBs. Unless you're talking about Aaron Rodgers. Because he's just a "stats guy". Meanwhile, Brett's working on 12 years since playing in a Super Bowl.
Got it. Thanks for the hypocrisy sandwich, Humble. Check ya later.

Super
Don't you find it a bit odd that Favre, Bus Cook, or even Brad Childress has yet to confirm this "retirement"? Has it occurred to you that this story is a fabrication designed to not only get morons like you to give hundreds of site clicks, but to also give morons, like you, false hope of a possible division championship?
Fools like you also warned us that Favre would throw 20 picks, his arm would fall off, he wouldn't last the season without getting hurt, he would quit mid season, and that he would lead the Vikings to a 6-10 record with the Packers winning it all last year. You didn't know anything, you just spouted off a bunch of stupidity, and hoped and prayed you were right. And you weren't, about anything.
You see, unlike the fumble-punt, Favre's pick led to nothing but overtime. He didn't lose the game like Rodgers did, he just didn't win it. I can see why you liked Souhan's article so much, he's as big of a schmuck as you are.

Maybe instead of whining and complaining about a guy who hasn't played on your team in 2 years (but has managed to soundly destroy them twice), you should focus on coming up with excuses for your Preseason Champion Packers missing the playoffs because their brilliant GM decided not to address the holes in a defense that gave up 51 points in a playoff game to an average offense.
I can see why you focus on Favre so much, because stopping and thinking about the true state of the Packers has got to be depressing.

This isn't about the money, the Vikings are just trying to entice him. I highly doubt an extra 3 million is going to bring him closer to coming back. Brett is 40 years old and had major surgery on his ankle, he is the only one who knows if he can go through a full season and the playoffs at full speed. Brett is not going to make a fool out of himself coming back if he isn't healthy.
The Vikings and the league know hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake from a business perspective. Brett is pure gold when it comes to merchandising and marketing in the NFL. Brett pretty much can write his own paycheck if he wanted too.

@ Perky's Gravy--
Of course he is coming back......after he bends Ziggy over for another $7M. I seem to remember a particular classy HOF QB ripping Javon Walker for not honoring his contract.
I really don't understand your insistence that the Pack are in bad shape. They finished the year 7-1 and still have one of the younger rosters in the league. Their QB isn't 40. They figure to be at the top of the NFC North for a long time. The Queens were fortunate to play GB early last year, when their O-line was in shambles. I don't think you will be as fortunate this year.

I'm doubt that any NFL fan who has to watch pro ball over broadcast TV because they can't afford cable or satellite since their unemployment expired will be rooting for Brett. All that's wrong with the NFL and maybe American society comes to light in this sad saga.
Really Bob? I'll make sure to go back and look at the Ben Rothlisberger, Mike Vick, and Vince Young threads to see if you left the same statement.

Or how about when Favre burned good friend, James Campen on national TV? Like I said, he is a despicable person who only loves himself. So sad.
Q: bob, stockbridge - I have heard the comment made that #4 threw James Campen under the bus. Do you know what that is about?
A: Greg A. Bedard - Yeah, it was Favre's worst transgression of the whole mess. In the Greta Van Susteren interview, Favre said acknowledged he could force the Packers' hand by showing up at training camp. He said he was told that by James Campen. Actually, here's the exact quote: "He says, "You know, I know they told you they're moving on and playing there's not an option. Playing here in Green Bay is not an option, which that's what they want. They want to move on. But I'm telling you, if you reinstate or you force their hand, back them in a corner, they feel like they have no other option, they're going to accept you back." And he said, "Just telling you." And I said, "OK."----- So Favre exposed that Campen gave him inside information from the Packers. How do you think that played back with McCarthy and Thompson? I'd say that's throwing somebody -- a friend even -- under a bus. Hard.

Brett is going to retire. There is going to be a very, very bad public relations nightmare hitting the press waves very soon. From what I've heard, the Vikings won't want him back after this story.

imiss, i think you meant to say "i desperately wish brett would retire and not keep on beating the packers and winning the division for the vikes and taking them on super bowl runs".
also you meant to say "from what i've heard, the vikings will pay brett up to 20 mill to play".
finally you meant to say "when will the torture that packer fans have endured since favre left green bay finally end? is it even possible that we could ever win the division or a playoff game again without brett and with the gay vampire running the packers into the ground?"

This is just unreal. Favre hasn't been a Packer in over 2 years, yet angry, bitter, jealous Packer fans just can't seem to move on from Favre. I mean, the Top 5 most commented, and 7 of the top 10.

Every morning I take a shower with Favre shampoo. Brush with Favre toothpaste. Eat a Favre breakfast. Later have a Favre snack. Favre sandwich for lunch. Dinner, a Favre steak. Watch Favre on ESPN. Go to bed and pray for Favre. Tuck myself into my Farve sheets and pillows. Dream about Favreland and start my Favre day all over again. :)

Living in simplicity must be bliss for you.
Let's get this one thing clear. Favre is a dishonest pr!ck. This latest retirement charade was not a rumor. This was a carefully calculated move by Favre to tell the Vikings 1) back off, and 2) give me more money. The classy way to go about it would have been to simply call Ziggy up and negotiate your contract, but that is not how he works. He needs the attention, he needs the constant coverage on ESPN.
There is a good reason many Packer fans now hate him. The guy is a liar, and only cares about himself.

I love all these Vikings fans defending the guy saying how he's so loved in Minnesota. Please. He's been on your team ONE year. ONE. And he's already bending you over a barrel... Wow.... you sure must be desperate and pathetic - Get some self-respect.
Meanwhile over in Green Bay, the Packers are quietly preparing for a run at a title without any distractions because Ted Thompson had the balls to tell this diva to get outta town. Ted's not perfect, but he made the right call here.
Even if Favre comes back, I dont see this ending any better than last year Viking fans.
