Steve Mariucci: Brett Favre hates the attention

When speculation swirls about Brett Favre’s future plans, it’s hard not to view Favre as a drama queen who loves being the subject of media speculation.

But one of the people who knows Favre best, former NFL coach Steve Mariucci, insists that Favre doesn’t like attention at all.

“He hates it,” Mariucci said Wednesday on ESPN 1000 in Chicago.

Mariucci repeated the common refrain from friends of Favre that all Brett really wants to do is drive a tractor in the offseason.

“You know what he was doing yesterday? He was working in his yard,” Mariucci said. “He avoids the media as much as he possibly can. He could hold a press conference every day if he wanted to. People are always waiting for him outside his house, outside the high school where he does training and rehab there, and he avoids it.”

Of course, if Favre really wanted to avoid all the media speculation, he could always bring the speculation to an end by reporting to training camp.

ROFLMAO….thats the funniest thing I have heard since Vick donated 10 g’s to Virginia Tech after the shooting. Favre is the ultimate ego maniac and the reason why he can’t walk away from the game. I really believe his wife can’t stand him and if he was home for an extended period of time she would end up choking him cause he wouldn’t move away from the vanity mirror.

It still amazes me the idiots on here who call Favre a media whore, yet he rarely if ever grants interviews and spends the whole off-season in seclusion on his ranch in Mississsippi.
Now you want a media whore, look no further then Jenn Stinger or Erin Rodgers. Rodgers spends the whole off season trying to get his pic into every Hollywood tabloid there is.

Mariucci’s wrong because he doesn’t realize that you can avoid the media physically, but still enjoy the attention. Lot’s of people like privacy but aren’t happy unless they know people are out there thinking about them every minute.

This is why Mooch was never a successful NFL coach. He wanted to be everybody’s friend and couldn’t see through the BS. Farve LOVES being all over ESPN for days on end, or else he wouldn’t have sent the texts in the first place. He wants to be the prettiest girl at the beauty pageant. “Don’t look at Manning and Brees, look at ME!” And none of those ESPN foofs want to make him mad, so they all kiss his ass.

Simply put, Farve, come out and say your either playing or not? That’s it, stop sending bull crap texts, grow a sack and let your team know what your plans are. If your coming back after pre-season, just say so. You have lot so much respect in this league to continue pulling this crap.

They leak it out and the sideshow begins. It worked! He is being offered $7 million more than he is scheduled to make this year. He absolutely pulled it off. He’s a freakin moron and shouldn’t be allowed in the NFL anymore. It’s not about winning with him or there wouldn’t even be any decision. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND ATTENTION!!!!

  42. va4favre says: Aug 4, 2010 5:48 PM

Even a homer like me does not buy Mariucci’s story. Obviously Favre does like the attention, but he wants it on his terms. I know that Favre is deeply flawed as most of us are, but he truly loves football. I remember his saying that one of the reasons he never likes to be taken out of games is that he thinks he will never be put back in. That is what happened to Majik after he was hurt in GB. His consecutive start record is part of that insecurity.

But, Brett Favre hasn’t initiated any of this… I can’t say it isn’t his fault when he retires then un-retires, but honestly – I truly think he has legitimate concerns about his health when he decides to retire/un-retire, the guy just doesn’t know… you can’t fault him for that. You CAN however fault the media for constantly bending over backwards everytime he does it… That’s not Favre’s fault. You saw the video yesterday when he was trying to get into his truck and leave, and Ed Werder stood in front of his door so he couldn’t close it… it’s 90% Media, 9% Brett, 1% PFT.

HAHAHAHAHAHAA Mooch is soooo full of shit.
    Favre hates attention, like:
Those Favre ballwashers are tired of getting pissed on by their drama queen.
They won’t be bidding up the price, thiristing for copies of Jenn Sterger’s cell phone’s photos the married nude perv sent her of his dong.
Vikings fans aren’t gullible at all.
