Training camp has claimed another victim.
Tests revealed that 49ers linebacker Scott McKillop suffered a torn ACL and torn patellar tendon in his left knee on Wednesday, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. The team hasn’t determined anything official yet, but those injuries should knock McKillop out for the season.
The second-year linebacker led the 49ers in special teams tackles as a rookie, and looked like a primary backup at inside linebacker behind Takeo Spikes. 2010 third-round draft pick NaVorro Bowman and veteran Matt Wilhelm figure to pick up snaps after McKillop’s tough break.
UPDATE: The team confirmed the injuries.

Is this typical or are there more serious injuries than other years?
Exactly why I hate this time of year!
I blame global warming.
Happens every year, then you forget about the player by week 2 and it seems like no injuries happened at all.
I went to Pitt with Scott. He’s a good guy and a solid player. I wish him the best with his recovery.
Who should they pick up?
To bad for Scott, I know him and his brother personally…they graduated from my high school (Kiski Area)….I hope he is able to bounce back from this and continue with a professional career… that will be tough sledding….
