On Wednesday the Seattle Seahawks re-signed free agent linebacker Anthony Heygood, who spent part of 2009 on the team’s practice squad.
But Heygood didn’t last long: He tore his Achilles tendon during stretching exercises before what would have been his first practice this morning.
Despite that terrible luck, Heygood is staying positive.
“Still in good spirits tweeps,” Heygood wrote today on Twitter. “Didn’t touch a soul this year and down for the count. . . . Man o man life happens for a reason. Thank you to everyone keeping me in your prayers. Ima be back in no time a much smarter and stronger football player.”
haha a football player who actually uses proper english… except for “Ima”
For generations the bitter irony of the Heygood family bad luck has been notorious.
He tore his achilles during stretching?!? That is beyond bad luck.
Hurt himself STRETCHING on the first day after signing a new contract????
Man! I hope those guys don’t have to ever punch a time clock; they’d probably be out for the season with a paper cut!
He never even got on the field to practice?????
Holy crap! I thought I was out of shape. But I’ve never torn my achilles tieing my shoes.
Too many roids?
wow, that must have been some stretch!
Translation. I signed, got hurt, check cleared, I’me good. Heygood that is.
