When the Rams take the field against the Cardinals for the September 12 opener, the fans in St. Louis are going to be awfully disappointed if Sam Bradford isn’t under center.
But as of right now, A.J. Feeley is the Rams’ starting quarterback.
Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo has repeated the same mantra every time he’s been asked: “Just like I stated all spring, if we played today — I’m sticking with it — if we played today, A.J. would be the guy. Maybe I should put that on tape.”
Obviously, the Rams didn’t guarantee Bradford $50 million so he could stand on the sidelines holding a clipboard. And Bradford would have to have a lousy training camp and preseason not to move past Feeley on the depth chart at some point in the next six weeks.
But Feeley told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he’s in camp because he wants to win the starting job, not because he wants to be Bradford’s backup.
“I want to help him out as much as he wants to be helped out,” Feeley said. “But everybody wants to play. If you don’t want to play, you shouldn’t be in this position. It’s what you do.”
A.J. Feeley sure is being a good sport about this.
If you pay a guy $50 million, he should be the # 1 guy from day one or else don’t pay him $50 million.
Dumbest Show on Turf.
Regardless of who starts the Rams will still be awful this year. Feeley is past his prime and was never that great anyway and Bradford hates to get hit. As with most of the Rams’ first round picks we all know Bradford is going to be a bust!
Sam Bradford is a china doll so Feeley will be playing one way or another.
Wow, another one or two win season coming up for the Rams.
..but not ahead in guaranteed jack. And that is all that counts these days.
Nobody cares.
brittle bradford!!! not gonna do well behind that OL!!
the ‘fans’ should shut up then..
It’s worth the wait. Play Feeley for most the season. I think Spags is smart enough to know that his team is closer to last years Lions than they are to Matt Ryans Falcons from two years ago…

You can kind of stop right there.
It’s going to a disappointing year for St. Louis regardless of who is starting at QB.
Wait . . . can it be “disappointing” if you expect it to be bad?
