Ahmad Bradshaw getting starter snaps in Giants training camp

B. Jacobs.jpgThe Giants beat writers have tiptoed around the issue much like Brandon Jacobs tiptoed his way to the line of scrimmage last year.

Why has Ahmad Bradshaw received the first snap with the first team every day at Giants camp?

Jacobs has received first-team reps as well, but Bradshaw has taken the majority of snaps with the starters.  We don’t want to overreact to training camp practices, but this is a change to the natural order of things in New York.  The Giants are still trying to figure out what exactly happened to Jacobs last year.

I don’t know. We don’t know,” offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said. “He wasn’t as effective,
so I’m going to say it’s his knee. That’s the only way I can try to
begin to explain it, but with anything it’s never just one thing.”

Tom Coughlin said he wanted to see more confidence in Jacobs, presumably in the way he tests his knee.  Bradshaw, who underwent more surgery this offseason, reportedly has looked terrific in practices.

The Giants’ running game can only get better this year, but it may take using Jacobs in a different role to do so.

Jacorbs is a 3rd down running back at best all he has is size, bradshaw deserves the starter snaps

it doesn’t really make a difference who plays or starts for the giants because they are football losers. the eagles will wipe the floor with the giants this season.

    Doesn’t matter.
The big question is: What is Favre doing right this minute?

Though we gotta admit, watching Brandon Jacobs truck-stick Brian Urlacher was pretty awesome last year.
I can’t remember if that was Pre-season or when that was, before Urlacher broke his wrist…

He would be the oddest choice for 3rd down back in history.
“Hey 260 pound guy with ok hands…Get in here”
“210 pound guy with quicks and solid receiving skills….take a breather.”

    Good. Brandon Jacobs sucks.

    I give Bradshaw a solid 84.

Bradshaw is a nasty back, played a hell of a role in the SB dragging that Patriot several yards. AB deserves the starting role. The guy is short, quick and strong like the greats Payton and Sanders.

Brandon Jacobs is trash. The Giants O-line made him. He can still run over people but he has no initial burst and his quickness isn’t there. That could be his knee, but you have to wonder how good Jacobs really is if guys like Derrick Ward(when he was on the Giants) and Ahmad Bradshaw can be just as productive as him.

    Giants – 3 Superbowl Rings
    Cowboys – 5 Superbowl Rings

    Eagles – ZERO

Good one man. Just remember everyone is 0 – 0. Don’t live in the past.

Endo, how is Jacobs a 3rd down back at best? He has bad hands but has averaged 4.8 yards per carry prior to last season which places him in the top 3 in the NFL in that category. Jacobs was playing with an injured knee last season.
Great in depth analysis of the Giants smellsdelicious.
Voxvagina, if the offensive line is the only reason why Jacobs was successful then why did Ryan Grant perform poorly when he was with the Giants? Also Rueben Droughns did not do well in his prime behind the same line. The reason why Derrick Ward did poorly last year in tampa was because defenses stacked the line against the run because they didn’t have a competent quarterback.

Some people just love acting the fool.
Endo, 3rd down back at best? Is that why even with an off year last year he still has a career 4.4 average? No speed, guess thats why he’s taken a screen pass 70+ yards to score right? Jacobs is fast for his size. he had a knee injury for most of last year.
Vox, the oline doesn’t make the first tackler fall off or the secondary get knocked down. Imagine Marion barber, but actually good at playing football. Thats Jacobs. Barber is 4 inches shorter and and nearly 50 pounds lighter. Barber’s 40 time-4.49, Jacobs 4.52

    =———————————————————
…..and then they’ll do what they always do and piss their season away in the playoffs. The 2 Giants games are their Super Bowl every year
Getting back on topic, I’d much rather see Bradshaw starting over Jacobs. Ahmad is the much better RB of the two.

    eagles suck

  21. bspurloc says: Aug 6, 2010 4:22 PM

    can only get better?????
they didn’t improve anything it turned to crap when they let ward go.
    idiots.

  22. smithopher says: Aug 6, 2010 5:13 PM

I think it was the offensive coordinators fault he sucked more than his own, they didn’t use him effectively. When I see Jacobs running off-tackle, it inspires a “what the eff were you thinking?” type of reaction from me. The man needs to run between the tackles and that’s it. Obviously, that makes it hard for the offense to run the ball when the defense knows to stack the linebackers up inside the tackles, but that should seriously open up some options for Manning in the play action game. Either way, I do think Bradshaw should be the starter.

  23. themage78 says: Aug 6, 2010 5:22 PM

    LOL @ morons.
Ok first, the Eagles need to find a QB that will do something for them because with the way their OL is, Kolb is going to be flat on his back. They only have a 2nd year RB, and the defense has been garbage ever since JJ died.
Also the giants didn’t turn to crap once they let ward go, as you can see ward’s production in tampa has been virtually zero and he was sat for other options. They went 11-1 the year after ward left, and last year the defense was so poor it wasn’t even funny.
PLEASE underestimate the Giants. I love it when we smack you around after you talk all this trash.
