Raiders pick up Colt Brennan

With the festivities in Canton over for the evening, it’s time to update you on the NFL player least likely to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Raiders picked up former Redskins quarterback Colt Brennan on Saturday to add to their quarterback depth.

It’s hard to imagine Brennan making the team with Jason Campbell, Bruce Gradkowski, Charlie Frye, and Kyle Boller ahead of him.

But who knows?  Dick LeBeau was released by the team that drafted him, and he wound up making it to Canton

10-6, Raiders this year. Divison champs. Laugh now, you won’t be laughing in January.

  2. DarthPirate says: Aug 7, 2010 10:53 PM

JaMarcus Russell is the least likely.

  3. DEMOLITION says: Aug 7, 2010 10:54 PM

So what exactly makes him the least likely to make the HOF of all the players there are?

  4. $MurfMoney$ says: Aug 7, 2010 10:56 PM

I hope all you douche bags at PFT heard Emmitt’s s speech tonight . Maybe some of your shit talking can be aimed at Jerry Rice’s retarded ass . Emmitt stole the show .

I’m willing to bet if any other team picked him up, you’d leave that comment out. Give it a rest if you want to be more respected.

  6. gasolinej says: Aug 7, 2010 10:58 PM

Wouldn’t the player least likely to make it to the hall of fame be an old guy who has had a long career of mediocrity? Colt Brennan still hasn’t plenty of time to do something, not that he will.

  7. JMClarkent says: Aug 7, 2010 11:16 PM

I’d hang on to him as a project; he definitely has more potential than Frye or Boller.

  8. blacktoothgrin says: Aug 7, 2010 11:23 PM

I live in DC and I’ve met Colt, he’s a great guy and he showed some flashes in pre season games but was out all last year with an injury, I’d love for him to be our #3

  9. mustbechris says: Aug 7, 2010 11:23 PM

Least likely to make the Hall of Fame?! That’s a huge slight against JaMarcus Russell.

  10. gbditka says: Aug 7, 2010 11:29 PM

Good Luck to Tom Cable as he now has 4 preseason games to split snaps for Jason Campbell, Bruce Gradkowski, Charlie Frye, Kyle Boller & Colt Brennan.
Maybe Al Davis can get a few scrimmages against the San Jose Saber Cats to help better evaluate the talent…

  12. raiderrob21 says: Aug 7, 2010 11:54 PM

They need more camp arms Gradkowski has groin injury and Frye has an injured wrist. Colt Brennan is worth a shot, I like that idea. You gotta remember RAIDER NATION, these writers have always and will always take shots at our team any chance they get. Without all those haters love where would we be?
I love my haters! Keep bringing us all the attention Haters, RAIDER NATION 2010!

It’ll be Campbell, Gradkowski and Frye. Boller has a shot if he can show some accuracy and makes smart decisions. If he does that, he can beat out Frye who is the less talented of the two.

Way off base. Campbell for sure. Gradkowski is a lock at No. 2. Boller is barely hanging on by a thread and has virtually no history with the team. I’d be shocked if he sticks. Frye is loved by the coaches because he’s a smart, hard-working guy who helps break down film and is considered future coach material. But if Brennan lights it up in camp and the preseason he could sneak in and land the No. 3 spot. Brennan might have the most upside of any QB on the roster.

  26. JesseJames says: Aug 8, 2010 2:36 AM

At the very least there are a lot of low rider chicks in Oakland who probably sleep with their windows open in August. Colt can stay active during his sojourn in Oaktown.

    My first thought DarthPirate.

  28. LateNightRoach says: Aug 8, 2010 2:54 AM

I’m happy for Brennan that he’s been picked up to fill in while your other backups heal. He was fun to watch in the ’08 preseason. Campbell will help him out; they already know each other.
Beware: If he plays well, there will be a “cult” following. His tinted visor has a way of hypnotizing. But hey, the Darth Vader look is a good fit for the Raiders.
Anyway – win win situation for the Silver & Black. Anyone’s better than Russell.

  29. Stupid Raiders Fan says: Aug 8, 2010 3:27 AM

  30. Ripp says: Aug 8, 2010 4:25 AM

Great move for the Raiders. Majority of the fans in Hawaii are Raiders fans so he should get more fan support. I also think he could develop into a good QB.
HornedHelmet, I am with you on that prediction. Believe it or not I think they can win the West and I am not a Raiders fan.

  31. Robski says: Aug 8, 2010 5:26 AM

I like Brennan’s future alot more than Jason Campbust. It’s amazing how giddy Raiders fans are over a guy who has been garbage his entire career. Then again, Charger fans thought Flutie was the second coming when they signed him after the Ryan Leaf debacle.

  32. Nambla Limbaugh says: Aug 8, 2010 6:17 AM

Campbell, Gradkowski, Frye and (to the rest) goodbye.

  33. GoLions says: Aug 8, 2010 8:26 AM

The Raiders will win a maximium of 4 games this year based on their schedule… and I hardly think that Colt Brennan is going to help them with any of that. Being the #3 QB on the Raiders is like being the 3rd tallest midget.

Are you crazy TheOne? Gradkowski is going to be the #2 guy, injured or not. As for Brennan, kind of a wasted pickup since we already had 4 guys. I think Boller is the odd man out, never liked the guy

good pickup by raiders. re hof speeches, best was floyd little & rickey jackson for enterainment value

  38. Bill In DC says: Aug 8, 2010 9:55 AM

So did Johnny Unitas. 9th round pick of the Steelers, they cut him and the Colts gave him a try out after he begged them, and the rest, as they say, is HOF.

  39. Gasface12 says: Aug 8, 2010 9:59 AM

Is it possible that Campbell convinced Hue Jackson to bring him in there. Hard to believe that Jason played with him and would have zero input on signing him.

I’m starting to become a Raider Fan. They are going to see How good Jason Campbell is and they will Also see what a talent Colt really is. Not to Mention Rock Cartwright. Whenever a Former Redskin leaves Mr. Snyders Team They tend to do well. Cue Antonio Pierce, Brian Mitchell, Lavar Arrington, Greg Williams (Super Bowl), Ryan Clark (Super BOwl),Norv Turner and Marvin Lewis. Watch out for Ladell Betts Wherever he lands too! Snyder has never Played football but Thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. What a turd! Stick to Marketing!

Crap years? Why is the motto of the team “Detroit Lions, rebuilding since 1957”? Seriously, Detroit hasn’t been relevant in the NFL for decades man. Take away Barry Sanders and Billy Sims, and they wouldn’t even be mentioned as an NFL franchise. The Raiders were in the SB in this decade after all… it’s been a long 7 years, but that is about to change…. bank on it… at worst the Raiders will be 8-8 this year.. Detroit may scratch out 4 wins…

  49. Robski says: Aug 8, 2010 4:22 PM

LOL at the Raiders winning 8 games… try winning 6 first, which you haven’t done in almost a decade. You still have garbage at QB (a guy who couldn’t make a 4-12 Redskin team and his backup), another top ten bust at RB, crap at reciever, no o-line, and a joke of a head coach. Basically, you’ve got a good underrated tight end, the best or at worst second best corner in the league, a good but fading Richard Seymour, and a rookie inside linebacker who is going to be excellent in a year or two. In other words, another sub .500 season.

Most Raider fans understand Campbell is just a guy, but even a good QB can’t do much until the offense starts blocking and the defense stops sucking, so we’re basically waiting for that. Campbell has only played on one team, and it was garbage, too. He’s worth the pick they gave for him, if nothing else.

Take your 0-16 ass on outta here. If it weren’t for Barry Sanders the Detroit Lions would be the L.A.Clippers of the NFL. Your stupid team forced Barry to retire early. Emmitt would’ve had to pass Barry Sanders and not Walter Payton for the rushing record. The lions will never be a winning team. NEVER!!!
